Democrats Clueless About Clinton Curse
October 8, 2003
This California election dealt a huge defeat to Bill Clinton, Gray Davis' top behind-the-scenes advisor. Gray's the latest jinxee in a long line of them from Algore nationally to state races in Hawaii, Minnesota, Maryland and more. When Clinton took office, the Democrats controlled the House and Senate, plus the lion's share of governorships and state legislatures. Now, the GOP holds the whip hand in all of those categories.
The Democrat Party can't win elections if it continues to be the plaything of Bill, Hillary and their handpicked DNC chair Terry McAuliffe. How long are the rank-and-file Democrats going to tolerate this cult of personality? How long are they going to confuse good things that happen to the Clintons with good things happening to the party? When are these Democratic presidential candidates who went out to California to campaign for Davis, too going to see that Clintonism has no political future?
This race was a rejection of liberalism run amok in California for the past 5 1/2 years. It focused on fiscal matters, and on those matters Schwarzenegger is conservative.
A caller named Steve made a point on this recall business that brought up George Washington. We owe everything to Washington. His morality is the sole reason we exist as we do today. His farewell and inaugural speeches are profound, and they are the very antithesis of people putting a party ahead of their nation. That's the assessment many people make when they watch what the modern Democratic Party is doing. This party looks at what's happening in the nation and thinks politics first. I know I should just let them destroy themselves, but I also know they won't listen to anything I say.
They seek to damage a president during wartime, because getting political power back is their one and only priority. Democrats seek to rule this country, not simply govern it. They don't trust the people or elections, which is why they want the power to mandate things rather than go through the legislative process. This is frightening to behold. Just look at how much progress they've made controlling free speech! It appears that they don't really care of the damage they inflict on the nation in the process of getting their grubby fingers back on the reigns. They figure, "We'll fix it later," and that nothing that could befall the country could possibly be worse than having Republicans in power.

I know I should just let them destroy themselves, but I also know they won't listen to anything I say. That's not exactly correct. They listen, but their hatred requires them to reject it.
Either way, it works out fine for us.

I agree. My take is that the biggest loser yesterday were the Clintons. They clearly dictated strategy in the recall defense for the Democrats from Day-One.

They are overlooking the fact that Gray Davis has a crush on Bill Clinton.

So now that the Republicans are the majority party when can we expect to see fundamental overhauls in issues like taxation, gun control, economic regulations, vouchers and other important issues? Oh wait, with the way the Republican-majority Congress is spending we might as well have the Democrats in power. Monkey see, monkey do apparently.....

Rush is right. The Dims are their own worst enemies. Darn shame, ain't it?

It focused on fiscal matters, and on those matters Schwarzenegger is conservative. It would have been nice if Rush had said this in the lead-up to the recall election.

Interestingly, on Fox News last night, Susan Estrich said repeatedly that "Terry McAuliffe and the DNC are responsible for the fact that a Republican is headed into the governorship tonight..." Of course, "Terry McAuliffe" is code for "The Clintons."

"They don't trust the people or elections, which is why they want the power to mandate things rather than go through the legislative process."
Which is why as their legislative abilities decline, the courts get more outrageous. These people have usurped everything the Consititution stands for.

Of course not. According to them, Davis' loss is a referendum against Bush. These people have a serious case of denial.
