Riordan:"Arnold needs to raise taxes, tax internet sales"
FOX Newschannel | 10/8/2003 | Dick Riordan

Sorry for the vanity.

Dick Riordan was just interviewed live on Fox Newschannel and told Fox reporter Brian Wilson that Arnold needs to add new taxes to help balance the budget in California. He said Arnold also needs to tax internet sales.

We do know that Pete Wilson will key figure in the Schwarzenegger adminstation.

Wilson did give us Californians the biggest tax increase in state history.

Oh, but if we had just nominated Riordan instead of that ultra-conservative Simon, we wouldn't have had to go through the recall in the first place. </sarcasm>

You must be kidding, right?

Gov. Reagan raised taxes in the face of deficits, too.

It's not about issues. It's about attitude. This is a carbon copy of the backlash by the electorate after 4 years of self hating under Jimmy Carter. Except the Calis weren't willing to wait for the normal election cycle.

Now we know why Riorden didn't go anywhere last year. That is the exact wrong thing for Arnold to do: His first acts need to be repealing unpopular taxes (motor vehicle comes directly to mind) and eliminating business-stifling regulation (fixing worker's comp comes immediately to mind). He needs to spend his first months on things like that while doing a few immediate broad brush spending reduction actions: Freezing hiring, across the board cuts (all state agencies, with none excluded, including schools -- he can always dribble money back to schools later if the parents come unglued), repealing any cost-increasing actions made in the last year...any add backs need to come later, after the runaway socialist train has been de-railed.

I noticed all the people giving Arnold advice -- don't think he is listening.

Rohrbacher said this morning that Arnold's first act will be to get the additional car tax rolled back to 1998 levels one way or the other!

But, he's a Republican, so I guess gun control imposed on us by republicans is better than democrat gun control.

Didn't you get the memo? Everything imposed on us by repub's is better than having a dim do it. Blackbird.

I also heard Riordan say last night that Arnold is pro-gun control. Just great...

Yes, including the Brady Bill.

Kidding? No I'm not.

Looking at the numbers and compared to the little communist Gray Davis, yes the state made an abrupt right turn.

I think Riordan is still a little pissed at Arnnold for using him to dupe Feinstein into not running for governor.

Once Arnold put the word out to Riordan that he would not run and would support the former LA mayor, Feinstein decided the Dems did not need her and stayed out of the race.

The same day Diane announced she was out, Arnold announced on Leno he was running.

This is classic Arnold. He did the same things many times in bodybuilding competitions. He would constantly psyc his opponents out.

The whole Riordan/Feinstein thing still makes me laugh.

Do you think the Anti-Arnold "Conservatives" will join up with Maxine Waters to get another Recall? (Is there a do not Recall List?)

>> The greatest state of the greatest country on earth California makes hard right turn.. <<

ROTFL!!!!! The SOCIALIST state of Vermont has a MORE CONSERVATIVE governor than Kalifornistan's pro-abortion, gun-grabbing RINO. Mull that one over a while.

This is a repeat of when Mexico elected "conservative" Vicente Fox (you remember that socialist, don't you?). Not suprising, really, Arnold will make sure Mexico merges with CA soon.

He said Arnold also needs to tax internet sales.

At this point in the proceedings, this should not even be on A.S.'s radar. Since GWB signed a 3/4 year order to think about it later, this has to be a non-issue. I'll tell you this, that would be a blunder akin to Billy Jeff Blythe taking on the "Don't ask Don't tell" in his first 90 days. The fact that RINO Riordan would say this hours after a "California Republican victory",(did you ever think you'd say that again?) shows how correct we were to avoid allowing him into higher elected office.Riordan should get off his a___ and start that other newspaper he claimed he always wanted for his beloved L.A.---God knows we deserve a better one than the L.A. Slimes, that Rag most of us cancelled years ago.
