Katie in Attack Mode - Questions Arnold's Leadership, Envisions "Havoc" and Grope Lawsuits
The Today Show

Posted on 10/08/2003 4:31:31 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

The morning after a historic election, it's traditional for the media to lead their coverage with an analysis of what led to the winning candidate's victory, and typically offer some softbal, warm and fuzzy interviews with the winning team.

But as far as The Today Show's Katie Couric is concerned, there's no time for a honeymoon, as she wasted no time in attack Arnold and painting a grim picture for his political future.

Couric's guest was CA Congressman and Arnold transition chairman David Dreier.

Again, the typical morning-after question would have been along the lines of "how does it feel?" or "how did Arnold do it?", or if you're looking to be a bit more substantive "what is Arnold's #1 priority?"

Instead, the first words out of Courics' mouth "polls show that 2/3 of the people feel Arnold didn't adequately explain his plans. What does that say about his leadership or his ability to communicate with the people?"

Next: "Arnold must present a budget by January 10th. How can he do it without cutting programs or raising taxes?"

And of course Katie hates the idea of letting taxpayers keep more of their money: "Wouldn't eliminating the recent tripling of the car tax wreak havoc?"

Next question: "When does he propose to address the groping allegations? Many of the women have retained high-powered lawyers. How concerned about lawsuits, how big a distratcion will that be?

There's a whole bunch of women out there who are quietly erasing the page in their diary saying

"I groped Arnold today. It was a thrill. His muscles are awesome and he's got a nice a**."

Not for nothing, but there's a new gap commercial for jeans. I could hardly speak as he showed me the verstility of his jeans. It was ooh and aaah...and I'm 60!!!!! Like my dad always said, I'm old but not blind!! :-)

No question about that--in my first post, I believe my phrase was "horrible damage."

Ms.Couric is no stranger to the drug culture. To hear her make jokes at Rush's expence, is so hypocritical, its maddening. But will the media report her abuse? Noooooooo.

There has to be much more to Rush's story than we are getting. He isn't the first person to make such a mistake. The housekeeper has to be DISGRUNTLED and probably set him up. Since she was peddling the drugs it seems kind of stupid on her behalf. Have you seen any real updates on this since weekend?

None. But that doesnt really mean anything. I am firmly convinced most people see the Rush smear as just that, a smear. The Codone family is extremely addictive. If its true, it doesnt change my opinion of him, Ill just have to add him to my prayers of people who are still "out". A term I use to describe those still addicted. I saw someone on DU call him a scumbag because of the oxycontin. Well, as a former scumbag, I can tell you everyones redeemable. That means, IF he has a problem, dont hide. Address it, and he wont lose a single listener. Hell Katie was big into the coke, but I guess her addiction is of the more benevolent kind..

I did all my experimenting as a teen, pot, speed, hash, etc... Now I won't even take pain killers when prescribed. The mind and prayer are powerful healers and I have a huge tolerance to pain. I do love beer and I smoke, but those are legal if not driving or in a smoking banned environment. I like Rush because he is right. I hope he gets whatever the truth is out soon.

In Summary: Rush tells the truth and Cocaine Katie is a liar.

Katie is not perky.

Evil is not perky.

yep. Vile comes to mind.

She must really hate Maria about now. Jealously is so ugly....

Wonder if Teddy had to drink breakfast today? So sad he couldn't celebrate with his family last night on stage...what a whimp.

Is it just me, or is Katie looking more monkey-like as time goes by? Did you see her on that Dr. Phil prime-time weight loss show? She was outside, at night, bad lighting... very chimp looking face.

I think Katie was jealous of Maria when she substituted for her and Maria and Matt got along well (I think they are better friends than Katie & Maria)..perhaps Maria just needs to replace Katie!!

"Katie became restless when Dreier explained that Arnold has for some time been saying that his approach will be to conduct an audit of the budget to determine how savings can be made. "

Liberal don't CARE about the ANSWERS to their questions, only that the QUESTION gets heard, as their questions usually IMPLY some sort of wrongdoing, or imcompetancy, when directed towards people they oppose. The run-of-the-mill DemoncRAT uses liberal reporters questions they way they use captions under photographs in the newspaper...they think it's the WHOLE story...undying thanks to our education system.

"I think it's fascinating that most of the voters cast their ballots for someone with absolutely no political experience."

I'm tired of seeing this fallacy expressed in the press and here at FR.

So what does it take to be a politician? It takes a person to press the flesh and articulate and campaign a few winning positions. Debate the issues against your political foes in the press and on the election trail.

OR

could people like perky Katie be referring to the day-to-day running of a state by an governor? Organizational skills? Managerial skills? Leadership ability? Having charisma?

Having those qualities above are nice to have for any politician but they are not totally crucial.

What is needed in a governor is VISION, and the ability to turn that vision into reality. Arnold Schwarzenegger does have that vision and the right attitude to lead California. Grey-out with all his 'political experience' is a failure as governor.

So the next time you hear them say he does not have the ‘political experience’, they most likely don't know what they are talking about.

Perky Katie has a quirk,
yes, I would call it a smirk.
But the reporter who really
flips my skid...
is old Dan Rather and CBS!
Oh my gosh, I can't stand him!
He is an old has been...
nothing new comes from him...
What's the frequency Kenneth,
was asked of him...
Where was he poking his reporters nose
that day so long ago???
I guess he was in his repose
goodness sakes who was Kenneth
does any one know??

"Susan does seem to be one of the few liberal Dems who has a clue. She has openly said the Dem party is in big trouble because they are out of touch..."

She's not the only Leftist speaking up, either. Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch has been excoriating the McAuliffe/Pelosi wing of the party, as has former governor Jerry Brown and Senator Zell Miller. Tony Blair has also dropped several non-subtle hints their way.

Not that the "new" Democrats in charge of this progressive car crash are listening, though!

They have no new ideas, for one thing.

For another thing, the California recall had to be the poorest example of Democratic campaigning since the Wellstone funerally last year.

At first, Davis and the media pretended to ignore the signature gatherers for the recall qualification. Then they ridiculed the recall effort ("they've all failed").

Then they fought the certification. Later, they applied pressure to keep realistic candidates off of the ballot in some lame attempt to shore up support for their lowest-rated governor in their entire history. Then they tried to get the courts to stop the whole election. Then they lied about the polls (Bustamante was never ahead, the race was never "tightening" or "too close to close"). Then they even started flinging wild-eyed hyperbole such as the "pro-Hitler" nonsense in the LA Times.

Quick, tell me one policy change or enhancement that either Davis or Bustamante said that they'd make if the voters decided to keep a Democrat in office. Oh, you mean they never offered such a proposal?? How odd that no one had a positive reason to vote for them?!

...And that's emblamatic/symptomatic of the ENTIRE Democratic Party. They have no new ideas. What's left of their Party survives only through inertia and the deliberate shilling of the news media (tell me again what major news media dared to publish even the **accusation** that Gray Davis physically abused female staffers --- sound of crickets).

I mean, don't look now but voters in Seattle just trounced the latte tax. Voters in Tennessee just trounced the state income tax. Voters in Alabama just trounced the largest tax increase in their history, and voters in California have just selected the man who is going to repeal the car tax there.

And nationally, voters have re-affirmed their support for income tax cuts, estate tax cuts, dividend tax cuts, and other such revenue reductions by voting to re-take the Senate for Republicans in 2002.

Republicans now control the govenorships in California, New York, Texas, and Florida (i.e. the 4 most populous states in the union). Clearly the people have spoken.

Republicans control the House, the Senate, the Presidency, most state legislaures, and most state governoships.

And it is the Republican Party that is responsible for building our ABM defenses in Alaska and California to protect our great nation from at least one form of nuclear attack. Republicans are leading the charge for private school vouchers, drilling in the ANWR, building new power plants and transmission lines, faith based charities, and privatizing numerous (over 800,000 on the auction block so far) federal jobs.

We're also about to ban Partial Birth Abortions as well as place Conservative judges onto the federal bench.
