How come only the real Republicans are the ones that quit? Probably because they realize the whole Washington scene is a con game - and they want to get out while they still have some sanity left. It takes a deviant personality to pursue a life in politics...and actually enjoy it.

That race in 2000 had an Indy who campaigned for almost two years on no taxes, no tuition, etc., and 100,000 stupid voters bought into his rhetoric. Largent only lost by 5,000+ votes.
