Not to worry. NO way is this a pickup for Democrats. Take it from this Oklahoman.

Not exactly a surprise, unfortuntely. Let's hope J.C. Watts decides to run for his seat.

I remember similar predictions (probably including from me) for the OK gov's race.

His kids are older now, so maybe he'll feel ready to go for it!

How come only the real Republicans are the ones that quit?

Because we don't want power for power's sake. The other side does.

Probably because they realize the whole Washington scene is a con game - and they want to get out while they still have some sanity left. It takes a deviant personality to pursue a life in politics...and actually enjoy it.

I sincerely hope that J.C. runs. BTW, he has opened up an office here in Norman for his company that he is involved with and is head of GOPAC!

Agreed and I believe that the politicians who came to Washington to make real change against the liberal establishment see it as a hopeless cause.

That race in 2000 had an Indy who campaigned for almost two years on no taxes, no tuition, etc., and 100,000 stupid voters bought into his rhetoric. Largent only lost by 5,000+ votes.

Which still reinforces the point that even in OK Republican candidates are not sure things.
