Had a dog once who lost his hearing due to autoimmune disease. He never once took these drugs prior to the hearing loss. I also have a close friend who is now deaf in both ears from autoimmune disease. (In fact, she is treated by the same CA specialist that Rush uses, though she is not an implant candidate.) She never once took these drugs prior to hearing loss.
My only point is that Rush may have lost hearing for the very reason he and his physicians have given - autoimmune disease. Unless, of course, we are to believe that he lied to his docs going into treatment. That makes about as much sense as lying to your shrink.

Rush is the leader of a grass roots movement, not just some joe blow sports fan. He hurt the cause by acting like an arrogrant, pompous, racially insensitive, white guy.

They can't handle the truth....... IMHO this is the crux of the controversy.....the truth hurts, as they say.....and the truth coming from someone the left hates worse than snakes drives them into blindness and rage that causes them to loose any rationality or common sense that they had(if indeed they ever had either).
I wish Rush would invite some of the critical "sportscasters" and some of the congress people onto his show for a eye to eye toe to toe discussion of their "problem".

There was not one general denial of a drug problem or illegal activity related to drug purchases.Guilty or not, Rush is doing the right thing by not trying his case in the media, unlike his accusers.

In other words, "I want to talk to my lawyer first before I talk to anyone else about it." Guilty? Probably. Degree of guilt? Unknown.Oh please. Any intelligent lawyer is going to advise his client to remain silent. You may not like it, but it's the only prudent course. It doesn't tell us one thing about the probability of his guilt.

I posted a vanity about what constitutes a racist statement, and it was pulled literally seconds later. The most I could get out of JimRob was that it was 'racist troll bait'. One of the example sentences I used is the one you used, attributed to Cosell.
How can we ever talk about racism without talking about what it means to say something racist?
That was the first post OR REPLY I've had pulled in my nearly three-year tenure at FR. I'm not opusing or whining, just frustrated, because now I'm afraid to even utter the word 'black'. How can we criticize the media for making people live in fear of being branded racists, and then be made to feel that way here? If anyone's interested, I'll email you the original post. I will respect Jim's right to pull it, and his request that I not repost it.

Be careful, remarks like that may start to make sense. Your point is well taken. We're just so new to this culture of being "offended."

See how easy it is to demand someone's resignation? After all, whoever wrote the headline thought about it in advance, knew the mute community would see it, and should have known better than to tie the ESPN/Rush flap to handicap. And the worst of it all is that the writer knew there was no way for the mute to "call him on it." Who will speak for the speechless?
I think it's time for a letter campaign to the AJC.

How can we criticize the media for making people live in fear of being branded racists, and then be made to feel that way here?I've posted a lot of stories about and by blacks. I think it is imperative that we talk about who, why and what racism is all about - who it benefits and who it hurts. I say it benefits those who need the black constituency and it hurts the very blacks in that constituency. A dirty little racket if there ever was one.

Had Rush merely stated that McNabb was a mediocre quarterback who owed his success to his defensive unit then he would be preparing for his ESPN show tomorrow. That claim is a legitimate opinion, one open to arguement but well within the bounds of a sports pregame show. Where he crossed the line, and where he interjected his politics into his sports, was with his asinine claim that McNabb's success was due to some conspiracy among liberal sportswriters in their desperate attempt to artificially create a black hero. Hello. There are 10 or 12 starting black quarterbacks out there. Blacks have won Superbowls and been leading teams for going on 25 years now. Why in the world would the liberal media see the need to create a successful black QB? And if so, then why did they settle on McNabb? Why not Vick or McNair? Rush did it all on his own, and has nobody but nobody but himself to blame.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
I wrote Rush a short email of encouragement and love. He got about 35 thousand of them by Friday morning. His best friend is Clarence Thomas, I don't think Rush is racist. I think he just speaks the truth, and liberals can't take the truth. On the drugs, I am waiting to hear more... but if the claims against him were two years ago and the cops didn't come after him by now, he must not be guilty.

What Rush said was true. If you can't speak the truth because you might offend some easily offended minority, then no speech is free.

Addicts have no problem with denying their drug use or drug problem. They are practiced, skillful and professional performers that can lie very convincingly. They are also skilled and practiced victims that have no problem portraying their victimology for the maxim effect. Rush may well be caught up in a drug investigation and might have obtained some drugs from these people in some misguided fashion that was illegal, but Rush does not portray any signs of a "drug problem" or drug abuse.
Put your money on Rush as having the last word on this subject. I hope the Democratic/Clinton smear machine gets what it has coming to it.
To: PackerBoy
Boy, I sure hope you are right about the drug thing.I just said it will all pass and blow over.
The likelihood is that even if he did buy on the black market for personal use, he would not be prosecuted for any crime.
This all apparently happened during his trial and tribulations with the hearing loss. IMHO, the drugs were not responsible. I use OC (oxi-contin)twice a day for some four or five years now. It does cause a ringing in the ears which is a side effect and does result in some temporary degradation of hearing, but not any damage.
It is possible that he ran out or needed some pain killers to function and got involved in this mess, but I believe the quantities and other claims are bogus as hell.

Exactly If Rush had said McNabb was "overhyped," none of this would have happened. But, for a "highly trained broadcast professional" to say what he said, well, he deserved a little heat.
