Howard Cosell: ***When he said of an african american running back, 'look at that monkey run,' many branded him a racist, but he explained that, he refers to his own grandchildren as monkeys. Civil Rights activists and many African Americans supported Cosell, saying he was not a racist. *** Source

Time for Rush's African American friends to come forward.

I see no damage as a result, except to his plans for getting back into sports broadcasting.

Perhaps he can start up a EIB sports network on the radio or start a new cable channel!

The drug thing will blow away soon. It is of no consequence except fodder for his enemies.(which are many)

Boy, I sure hope you are right about the drug thing. I listened to his show Friday and thought he sounded like a guilty man. There was not one general denial of a drug problem or illegal activity related to drug purchases. He just said he wanted to wait until he knew what he was dealing with, and that he had not been contacted by any law enforcement agency.

"Time for Rush's African American friends to come forward."

Thomas Sowell wrote a supportive column on the whole ESPN thing.

On a serious note though, I think the one person who can empathize with Rush right now is probably Pee Wee Herman.

"I haven't yet gotten to the bottom of what all this is about," Limbaugh said

Like O.J. vowing to look tirelessly for the real killers?

How on earth could anyone expect Limbaugh to discuss the drug allegations , when anything he says on air could come back and bite him on the *** in a court of law? He has to remain silent for now!

Rush has hired Roy Black (of William Kennedy Smith fame) as his lawyer.

I'm certain that the first thing Black told his client is not to comment on the situation in re: drugs.

You have to remember the 'operational' Miranda law: anything you say will be misquoted and used against you in a court of law.

Palm Beach County gave us the butterfly ballot fiasco of 2000. Would you trust andy government official their?

Civil Rights activists and many African Americans supported Cosell, saying he was not a racist.

Cosell like Rush got a little full of himself from time to time. The reason Americans of African descent stood by Cosell was his strong ties to Cassius Clay. Cosell outspokenly objected to Clay being stripped of his heavyweight boxing titles because of Clay's refusal to be drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War.

Many people stood by Cosell, but he was a ruined man from that time on. Dont forget Jimmy the Greek either.

Well, for starters, Rush has stood by black coaches and was married by Justice Clarence Thomas. The man is not a racist. If you think he's outspoken, I agree. That's why he makes the big bucks. But the Left wants to shoot him down because he tears them a new one by using their own words and stupidity. They can't handle the truth.

I think we'll all know soon enough what shakes. The Left better watch it, they may have that door slam on their nose yet again. Besides, where is the compassion, the "I feel your pain?"

We all know the left has no real compassion or mercy. A true merciful heart only comes from one who requests mercy themselves from God first. If you are a atheist-humamist-leftist - this is akin to holy water tossed on Linda Blair.

In this vein, I saw Joe Kline (of Newsweek) on CNN. Do you know why he kept pounding the table with a "got-CHA!" about this manufactured "CIA Leak" story? Guess.....Yep! You got it! Because: "The Republicans went after Clinton...now they are getting P-A-Y-B-A-C-K!

No moral examination to determine if the porn-theater atmosphere of the Clinton White House is even analogous to the Bush White House is required. Just that Clinton soiled his underwear in public and embarrassed himself----so ergo----Liberals want Conservatives to "know how it feels!"

Incredible.

I find the author's use of this headline (referencing the handicap of being mute) extremely distasteful - especially in light of the fact that Rush is hearing impaired. It's so offensive, in fact, I think the writer and/or whoever wrote the headline should be fired.

In other words, "I want to talk to my lawyer first before I talk to anyone else about it." Guilty? Probably. Degree of guilt? Unknown.

A Fox story pointed out that he may have lost his hearing as a result of taking these drugs. But cheap shots from provincial Democrat rags are par for the course.
