REPEATING HISTORY IN CA 10/4/03 MARK A SITY

Let me first start this by saying “THANKS ED”, since in WI we have Ed Thompson to thank for splitting our vote and giving us Bingo Jim Doyle as a governor. Our acting governor lost the election by 3%, in large part because Ed took 10% of the vote. True, at least half of his vote was to support gambling, and maybe we’d have lost anyway. But the fact remains that we have a Socialist in the Governor’s mansion today. In IL they can say “thanks Cal”. In 1996 we all could say “thanks Ross”, for giving us 4 more years of Clinton. In 2000, we can thank the Green party (and mean it) for taking away some of Gore’s votes.

I warned about this after the 2000 elections, it seems the message didn’t get out to CA. Here is the link to my post: http://www.logic101.net/TimeFornEnd.htm

One interesting note, I got a lot of rabid replies on Free Republic to my original post from Libertarians which had the same tone of Tom’s supporters when they call Rush or Sean. In fact, many of the same arguments were used.

Yet, it seems that in CA the voters are prepared to re-live history by splitting the vote again. I prefer Tom to Arnold by a wide margin. I wish Arnold would have not gotten into the race. The problem is that he has the name recognition while Tom does not. It is just not time for Tom, as much as I wish it were. Perhaps he could unseat Diane Frankenstein the next time she is up, or maybe Boxer. I think he would be a great asset in the Senate. I don’t think I’d have to send him a pair of superballs, which I am considering doing for each Republican Senator (well, they don’t seem to have any!). Unlike Ed, Tom is a fantastic candidate. But sadly as I stated it is not his time. If he stays in the race, soon the residents of CA may look at Cruz and say “Thanks Tom”.

To Tom and his supporters, please remember that “those who fail to learn the lessons of history are condemned to forever repeat them.” There are times when you just have to go for the best deal you can get.

"Well, why not go all the way and vote for Cruz? Since it is Arnold you disapprove of, and didn't mention any disapproval of Cruz, you might as well vote for the candidate that can win!"

Actually that's a question you should be asking yourself since your boy Arnold is a Demoncrat in drag. I prefer a genuine Republican - Tom.

"Personally I'd rather have someone who I at least shared some views with, rather than someone who sees things exactly the opposite of my view. "

Then maybe the Butmeister is the best man for you. He surpasses Arnold on liberalism, is a hypocrite and has no logic. On the other hand I agree with Tom on everything.

"Mark A Sity"

Sure you don't mean Mark A Silly?

True, but the few republican legislators left will be better able to block Cruz's “economic plan” than Arnold's.

As I said before, Arnold became a bridge too far with the Warren Buffet selection.

I do know what socialism is, and I also know that it doesn't spontaneously instantiate itself, but rather is instituted through incremental taxation, regulation, and spending, so that as it develops the state controls a greater and greater percentage of the economy. Schwarzenegger's policy package essentially offers to spend as much as he can get away with, and as such is simply socialism in a different wrapper.

Arnold would not be my first choice, as I stated I prefer Tom by a wide margin. I guess you didn't bother to read the post before attacking me. However, we have to live in the real world. Perhaps after you put Cruz in office you will realize the error of your ways. But then again, probably not.

I have seen what splitting the vote gets us. You can ask any Conservative in either WI or IL. Both states are stuck with Socialist governors because of a split vote.

Be sure in the next few days you practice your "Thanks Tom"; if your attitude is prevalent in CA I'm sure you will need to use that line alot.

Have you looked at the agenda of Cruz?

Cruz is a red herring, as he is the least likely to get a plurality (GOP candidates have more than 2x Cruz' support - do the math, he cannot win). Given that this is now a Schwarzenegger-McClintock race, there is no longer any reason for any conservative to vote for Schwarzenegger.
