Purell manufacturer chooses Scotland County for plant

The company that makes Purell hand sanitizer [has chosen] Laurinburg, NC for a manufacturing plant, a move that will create 250 jobs, Gov. Mike Easley said.

GOJO Industries markets hand hygiene and skin care products, including Purell, its signature product.

The North Carolina facility, which is expected to be fully functional by January 2005,....

The company will occupy an existing facility donated by Abbott Laboratories.

GOJO Industries received $250,000 in One North Carolina money to be used for new equipment and building renovation.

What is "One North Carolina" money?

250,000 dollars for 250 jobs = 1000/job. So, if they stay in NC for 2 years, we will start to see a return on the investment.

Nice of Abbott to donate the facility, too.

Hmmmmmm.... Do you really believe that each employee will only pay $500 per year in taxes?
And what about the "ripple effect" providing a beneficial stimulus to other local businesses and employees? Doesn't that expand the tax base and increase revenues?
