The "Wes" Debate Strategy

RAPIST SHOWING LEG:
An Extension of
the clinton Complex-Question Fallacy Scheme

by Mia T, 9-19-03

The missus clinton-Wesley Clark spectacle, in any permutation or combination, is as much about delusions of grandeur (with sabotage the fallback position) as about anything else. As Susan Estrich pointedly stated yet again last night: "hillary clinton is unelectable."

(requires Flash Player 6, available HERE)

The clinton calculus, that the clintons' utter failure, which unleashed global terror, would be neutralized (or at least mitigated) by any general -- and no less by a general who, himself, exudes critical elements of clinton dysfunction -- is ludicrous on its face and yet another example of that unique brand of clinton rube arrogance rooted in stupidity.

Missus-clinton-flirting-to-run-by-proxy -- the rapist is the one showing leg -- is merely an extension of the original clinton Complex-Question Fallacy Scheme. (With her legs and political skills, the bait and switch is perfectly understandable.)

And the leftist media is falling for it like a homely, desperate old maid.

The clintons are betting that media desperation, coupled with her late entry-- and of course, the old clinton standbys, access journalism and plain intimidation -- will mitigate against any serious vetting of the little missus.

The clinton Complex-Question Fallacy Scheme notwithstanding, it is axiomatic and confirmed on a daily basis by clinton "infrastructure" strategy alone that hillary ("listening tour" / cozy-clintonoid-interviews-of-the-Colmes-kind) clinton is no better than Howard Dean at withstanding media scrutiny... and is likely significantly worse.

From this it follows that hillary clinton cannot survive the standard, lengthy, probing presidential-campaign process. An end run is her only option.

And contrary to conventional wisdom, time is not on her side. Not only are the clintons in general decline, not only is she vulnerable in '06, but in this post-9/11 world,

as more clinton failures and betrayals are documented, increasingly favorable demographics will prove insufficient to resuscitate disfavored, dysfunctional, dangerous democrat demagogues like the clintons.

Look, therefore, for the clintons to make their move in '04. Susan Estrich, Al From and The Times aren't on the same "Get the clintons off the stage!" page for no reason.

George Will continues: There is reason to believe that he is a rapist ("You better get some ice on that," Juanita Broaddrick says he told her concerning her bit lip), and that he bombed a country to distract attention from legal difficulties arising from his glandular life, and that. ... Furthermore, the bargain that he and his wife call a marriage refutes the axiom that opposites attract. Rather, she, as much as he, perhaps even more so, incarnates Clintonism

CNN's favorite general, Wesley Clark, has also been heard to opine that our troops are getting bogged down in Iraq. His competence to judge American generals is questionable since his command was limited to working for NATO. We prefer to hear from American generals. Clark's contribution to international relations consisted of mistakenly bombing the Chinese embassy in Belgrade. In his zeal to prevent troop casualties, he ordered pilots to fly at such high altitudes that the pilots complained that they were being forced to incur unnecessary civilian casualties.

LEHRER: President Bush, your closing statement, sir.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Three weeks from now--two weeks from tomorrow, America goes to the polls and you're going to have to decide who you want to lead this country ...

On foreign affairs, some think it's irrelevant. I believe it's not. We're living in an interconnected world...And if a crisis comes up, ask who has the judgment and the experience and, yes, the character to make the right decision?

And, lastly, the other night on character Governor Clinton said it's not the character of the president but the character of the presidency. I couldn't disagree more. Horace Greeley said the only thing that endures is character. And I think it was Justice Black who talked about great nations, like great men, must keep their word.

And so the question is, who will safeguard this nation, who will safeguard our people and our children? I need your support, I ask for your support. And may God bless the United States of America.

Gen. Shelton shocks Celebrity Forum, says he won't support Clark for president

By Joan Garvin / Town Crier Correspondent

"What do you think of General Wesley Clark and would you support him as a presidential candidate," was the question put to him by moderator Dick Henning, assuming that all military men stood in support of each other. General Shelton took a drink of water and Henning said, "I noticed you took a drink on that one!"

"That question makes me wish it were vodka," said Shelton. "I've known Wes for a long time. I will tell you the reason he came out of Europe early had to do with integrity and character issues, things that are very near and dear to my heart. I'm not going to say whether I'm a Republican or a Democrat. I'll just say Wes won't get my vote."

Retired General H. Hugh Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on 9/11, shared his recollection of that day and his views of the war against terrorism with the Foothill College Celebrity Forum audience at Flint Center, Sept. 11 and 12.

His review of that historic event and his 38 years in the military kept the audience's rapt attention throughout. But it was his answer to a question from the audience at the end that shocked his listeners.

Shelton was on a 757 en route to Budapest for a conference when he learned that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. Knowing that New York had perfect weather and there were no computer problems, he determined that it was a terrorist attack and immediately turned the plane around.

Shelton's 38 years in the military included two years in Vietnam and service in the 173rd Airborne Brigade and Green Berets. In addition to having been an adviser to the president and a member of the National Security Council, he has been awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the Purple Heart and six Distinguished Service Medals. He has been decorated by 15 foreign governments and knighted by Queen Elizabeth.

His 6-foot-6-inch military bearing and commanding presence at the Celebrity Forum belied his recent personal battle. Only months after his retirement, following 400 parachute jumps from 30,000 feet, the former special ops soldier fell from a ladder outside his home, landed with his head caught in a chain-link fence and was partially paralyzed from the neck down.

The doctor told Shelton he would never walk or use his hands again. Shelton said he checked the doctor's name tag for "God"; he didn't see it. Eighty-four days later he walked out on his own, and he is now close to 100 percent recovered. The unfortunate experience taught him an invaluable lesson -- "the importance of faith, family and friends when the chips are down."

Three days after Shelton took office as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, his commitment to the integrity of the military was tested. When U.S. planes in the Iraq no-fly zone were attacked, a member of Congress suggested that perhaps "we" could fly a U-2 spy plane so low over Iraq that it could easily get hit. Then we'd have a reason "to kick Saddam out of Iraq." After Shelton responded that he would order that "just as soon as you are qualified to fly (it)," he was not asked again to compromise his office.

"Sometimes people in a position of power lose perspective on right and wrong," Shelton said.

The events of 9/11 were not a surprise to Shelton. He had been concerned because the United States offers a vulnerable target-rich environment. Two areas continue to worry him. First, a cyber-attack on air control, water, 911, financial or other nationwide systems could "bring us to our knees." Second, the use of weapons of mass destruction, even small amounts of sarin gas, anthrax germs, bio-attacks, continues to be a dangerous threat. Their deployment had been planned for the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, but al-Qaeda ordered the attack before they were in place.

In order to deal with the ongoing danger, the United States must "continue to go after terrorists," he said. "Bush has maintained the pressure and earned kudos in spite of the criticism."

Beautiful work, Mia T, as usual! BTW, CNN just announced a poll....Question: Do you agree with Wesley Clark that Americans are embarrassed by Pres. Bush's policies? Typical of the CNN crowd, the majority is voting "yes". Go to www.cnn.com and scroll down, it's on the left. Thanks!

Rangel Comes Out For Wesley Clark

September 23, 2003

Rep. Charles Rangel, who talked Hillary Clinton into running for the Senate seat she now holds, is about to endorse retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who wants to be president.

But first he cleared that endorsement with Clinton.

"I talked to her for an hour the other day and told her I was leaning toward endorsing the general," the Harlem congressman told me yesterday.

"She told me that she thought he would make a great candidate and that whoever the Democrats backed, she would campaign for that person.

"She talked glowingly about General Clark and what a fine president he would make, but then she said, 'Charlie, I want to make it clear that I am not endorsing General Clark.'"

Not now, anyway. And that's a green light for Rangel to go ahead with his plan to endorse Clark, possibly at a Black Congressional Caucus dinner in Washington this weekend. "I knew after talking to her she has no problem with my endorsing Clark," says Rangel, who is hinting to pals he may retire soon.

"I am 73," he says, and like the Florida congressman Claude Pepper used to say, "I don't buy green bananas anymore."

But the Will-Hillary, Won't-Hillary-run saga has the press drooling even though it makes little sense for her to run, even as the war looks more and more like the "fraud" that Sen. Edward Kennedy called it a few days ago.

Clinton's husband has been feeding the speculative fire for a few weeks, calling his wife and the retired general the party's "two stars" and reportedly urging his wife to reconsider her decision to stand by her commitment to finish her six-year term.

Hillary can keep on saying she won't run for the White House this time around. It doesn't matter that the argument makes little sense.

Ask former Gov. Mario Cuomo, who says when he was considering a run for the presidency, reporters asked him round the clock: was he or wasn't he?

"I told them I had no plans to run," he said. "But that didn't stop them from speculating on everything from colon cancer to a Mafia conspiracy."

And what about Clark? Well, he and Hillary can be running mates, the wags say.

I say that's blather. Or as city political consultant George Arzt, who worked for the Clintons, put it: "Can you think of running two people from Arkansas on the ticket?"

OK, OK, conspiracists say, what about those polls that show Hillary beats all other Democrats running for president?

True, but a new Marist poll indicates that she would lose her Senate seat to Republican Rudy Giuliani if the former mayor runs for her seat in 2006.

Rangel says he spent the weekend talking to religious, political and community leaders in Harlem enlisting backing for his endorsement of Clark. Why is Rangel so enthusiastic about a man he describes as "aggressive, arrogant and ambitious?"

"This war is going to be the longest war in the history of this country," he says. "Your children and your grandchildren and mine will be paying for it for years to come."

"General Clark will take the war issue off the table for the Democrats," argues this Marine veteran, who fought in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. "He's not role-playing, not wearing a uniform and posing on the deck of an aircraft carrier and announcing that the war is over" as did the incumbent commander in chief.

Rangel came up a big winner by convincing Hillary Clinton to run for the Senate and backing her early. She went on to win easily.

Can he do as much for Clark?

You are so very, very bad that you are absolutely good. LOL!

Wes scares the beejeebees outta moi. That is for sure. Mia...this is getting so looney and depressing I almost feel as if our entire nation has entered into the surreal.

And if ever in my life, I could wish a pundit correct, it would be Estrich.

Cause it is going to be '04, girl, that her heinous makes the biggest move of her filthy life into the presidential campaign, full throttle with her legions from hell burning the path behind her. You know it, I know it and everyone who understands access journalism and a penchant for 'listening tours' (aka only accepting vetted questions) knows it.

Mia....God save us all!!!

Clark is the stupid carrot dangled before the clinton war wagon, political war that is. He is the out-front puppet designed to get hatellary rodhamster into higher office from which she can take control with sinkEmperor pulling the world-wide strings again.
