They don't mean the right to question policy or the war - they mean the right to destroy the reputation of George Bush in the eyes of the public.

Instead they are showing how absolutely unworthy of power they are.

Here we have democrats all over the place that still cannot understand why we went to war, what is going on over there. They have the intelligence briefings, the reports yet they still cannot understand why we went to war.

Yet, I am an ordinary citizen and I understand - the threat of terrorists and the makers of WMD getting together can kill hundreds of thousands of those these groups hate. That happens to be Americans - not the French, not the Germans, not the Russians - Americans.

I also can understand that Saddam was totally in violation of sanctions he agreed to, was not allowing inspectors, was hiding from inspectors. What are we to do? Hope that Saddam is not developing WMD?

So, we haven't found them. That does not mean the danger was not there. The fact that we have a President willing to protect this country first is what I expect a President to do.

Never will I ever vote for a Democrat that believes in letting the U.N. (that also is anti-American) tell us when we can defend ourselves, that cannot understand a threat to me a citizen, that is incapable of defending this nation.

I don't see what Kennedy did as different. He made accusations that he can't back up. HE says that certain provisions were specified in order for Turkey to get the money. This is a normal part of everyday world politics. We told Israel that we deduct so many bucks for every foot of fence they put up. IS THAT A BRIBE TOO? Why isn't Kennedy yelling about that?

Ted is dancing around the bribe charge. He first says that Bush is hiding funds that are being used to (secretly) bribe foreign leaders to induce them to send their nations' troops.

Maybe the fact that Clinton actually did take bribes to alter foreign policy has desensitized Teddy to the seriousness of the allegation. But now he spins and implies that open, public foreign assistance is what he meant. Too late, Ted, your words were quite clear enough.

For those who are confused, here are the rules of engagement:

1. If a Democrat (especially one of the noble Kennedy clan) accuses a sitting president in time of war of perpetuating a "fraud" to engage in said combat and using tax dollars to "bribe" foreign powers, he should not be called "uncivil".

2. If a Republican utters the "u" word, he should immediately apologize.

3. In any debate, Democrat positions should be quoted more than Republican positions--they are obviously the more mainstream. Any Republican heard to remark, "If the charge made by the senior senator from Massachusetts is accurate, then the president is deserving of a serious rebuke. If, in fact, the charge is not accurate, the senior senator from Massachusetts is deserving of a serious rebuke," should be reminded that proof is for Republicans only.

4. Republicans must at all times produce the necessary rebuttal evidence to counter Democrat claims. Democrats may rely on the aforementioned evidence to level new charges. The new charges should take greater priority than apologies for the prior claims. The press should follow this process carefully to ensure no one deviates from policy.

I think Teddy is going down over this. I know it goes against CW but he will lose his next election. The entire country knows how overly kind GWB has been to TK yet TK attacks GWB as viciously as if they were mortal enemies.

It will take time to play out but TK's words place him beyond the pale - an Irishman should understand what that means.
