Before the California recall race got under way, gubernatorial candidate Tom McClintock made a private pledge to step aside if his campaign threatened to spoil Republican chances to take power in Sacramento.
That was the bombshell revelation yesterday from the driving force behind the recall movement, Rep. Darryl Issa, who described to nationally syndicated radio host Sean Hannity a conversation he had with the conservative favorite several months ago.
"When I talked to Tom even before he got in, he told me a couple of things that when you have these kind of conversations you never forget," Issa told Hannity.
"He said, 'Look, I'm not going to be in this race if it's not a crowded field. I know the numbers for a conservative. And I'm not going to stay in and be a spoiler.'"
"Those are two quotes that he told me directly over the phone," Issa claimed. He then pointed out, "It was a crowded field, it's no longer a crowded field. And he does have to make ... a tough decision."
The Republican congressman predicted that McClintock would ultimately keep his word.
"Tom McClintock, if the numbers stay where they are, has an opportunity to be the hero," Issa told Hannity. "He has the chance to be a real hero and I believe that he is a good man and he will take that chance at the right time."

Thousand Oaks is where most of the porn is actually filmed. The Disciples of Conservatism will be so crushed.
Maybe this why Tom lives in Sacramento(Elk Grove) with his family.

McClintock is a compromise for conservatives.
We've been trying to tell you. Arnold isn't a compromise for conservatives, he's the enemy...a liberal.

he told me a couple of things that when you have these kind of conversations you never forget," Issa told Hannity. I think this will be like the Burton call. McClintock will not remember it the same way.

Will you support McClintock if he runs against Boxer in the future? If he's the leading GOP candidate, they will. If someone else is the leading GOP candidate - no matter how liberal - that person will get their support.
These threats of withholding support are hollow.

Liberals like Arnold never repay.
California RINOs already owe us.

Your taking cheap shots at Thousand Oaks, and it's a very nice place. It's much nicer than San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, LA, and I could go on.
I'm not happy with McClintock right now, but the one good thing is that he is from Thousand Oaks.

Thousand Oaks is a fairly upscale area, and I really don't think that much porn is produced there, but what you say is true of the San Fernando Valley and all of the Los Angeles area.

The Arnold supporter you pinged to that thread is from out of state too, genius. Yes, fool, but PKM has a vested interest in this recall election! She OWNS property in CA! Get it?

I will not support McC at all -- never after this campaign when and if I return to CA to live in the house that is rented right now!
McC will never get the nod to go against Boxer as he has irritated 70% of conservatives not to mention the rest of Republicans. McC only can get 30% of conservatives to support him -- that speaks volumes and why he will never get the nod to go against Boxer.
Support Issa to run against Boxer because I believe that Issa can win as he has the support and goodwill of the Republicans of California!

"I agree with you, PKM, the our-of-state McWampum supporters are almost identical to the slit-you-wrist-keysters from 2000. Maybe they're one in the same?"
Its funny you ping an out-of-State Arnold supporter complaining about Out-of-State McClintock supporters,,,

I don't know what to tell you.
Let them have their 'progressive' Republican, keep Cruz out and use Arnold as the whipping boy when his liberal policies come home to roost.

I am not taking a potshot at Thousand Oaks -- I didn't even post the name -- you did. It just seems to me that a "principled" conservative that we keep hearing about would at least make some waves about the porn industry in his backyard but he doesn't live there -- he lives in an expensive rental in Sacramento the year around!

Actually Tom didn't fight against the bill and didn't even bother to vote on it, to register his objection. that is the same as if he voted for it.
But the real problem is again, that he says one thing and does another.
He was making a big deal about signing a "pledge" (there is that word again" to fight against it, then did absolutely nothing.
Hypocrite!
To: NittanyLion
I haven't. She needs a good spankin' every now and then!
Ad hominem? Against McX? He is a liar and a hypocrite, its a fact. And you support him? Where are your principles?

Lighten up. McClintock is the one who moved out of Thousand Oaks, not me. And I have been to Elk Grove, Decorative Specialties to be exact, so there.
