French Caramel from World Market...I buy the vacuum packed beans and grind it fresh every day. My husband buys India Malabar for himself and we brew our coffee by the cup.

As per Robert A. Heinlein,
Coffee comes in five grades: Coffee, Java, Jamoke, Joe and Carbon Remover.
Yes, as a matter of face I have used coffee to clean the breech block on my Sharps rifle...

You get a special dispensation for cappucino and latte. It's perfectly acceptable to add sugary syrup in such a case. But to ruin a perfectly good cup of black coffee with sugar and cream is a crime. Better include all chicory blends in that dispensation, too - most are easily as powerful as cappucino and latte. At Commander's Palace restaurant in New Orleans, the coffee laughs at those little "peel-n-pour" capsules of Half & Half - add all you care to, the coffee refuses to change color.
A pure, medium roast coffee (or flavored blend) is best black.

I don't generally drink coffee in the afternoon but all this talk has got me to thinking about brewing another pot of Luzianne.

Ok. I extend the dispensation to Turkish coffee, as well. It is great, but undrinkable without a little sugar. Probably the strongest coffee on the planet.

Nothing better than coffee in a percolator. And one cup at night with heavy whipped cream!

Fairly high percentage of votes for chicory coffee, but nobody voting for Cafe du Monde but me? CDM is good stuff, too. Ever try Union brand? Not bad, though the name *is* a bit offensive down heauh. ;-)

Turkish coffee is rich in flavour and traditions. It became known as the "milk of chess players and thinkers".
Method:
Heat water in saucepan; add coffee and sugar when warm. Bring to boil. Pour half of the coffee into demitasse cups. Return remaining coffee to stove, and allow returning to boil. Spoon off foam and gently place into each cup (don't stir).
Ingredients :
- 1 1/2 cups cold water .
- 4 teaspoons dark roast coffee .
- 4 teaspoons sugar .

Sometimes, a paper cup of cheap acidic office coffee (that's been cooking for a few hours in a half-full pot) mixed with powdered non-dairy whitener and stirred with a plastic swizzle stick is the best coffee of all.
Gas station coffee is even better on a cold morning facing a long trip.

Thanks for that Turkish coffee recipe, Skooz!
I first had Turkish coffee with Libyans in Saudi Arabia.
When they break out the Turksih coffee, you know you've made the grade.
Except, they don't use any sugar.
My first sip, I lightly touched it - courteousy sip.
Second sip - tasted like mud.
Third sip (still being courteous) - the first and second sips registered.
Fourth sip and remaining demitasse cup (about 2 ounces) were fantastic.
I was wide awake until midnight.

There is a blend called Cafe Midnight that I really like. Unfortunately, my heart doesn't, so I can only have a mug every other day!Sounds like my kind of java! Who makes it?

You're very welcome.
Remember to grind the beans until they have the consistency of baby powder.

Please can you analyze and post what difference the burr grinder made?
I am interested but not sure the price was worth it even if we are kitchen gadget people.
Thank you..
