A modest proposal - we all band together and ask Davis to change his party affiliation to Republican. Then we all rally around him, as the "only Republican to win statewide office". Then we'll have a Republican gov, right?

If you ignore principle, the rest is easy!

At the debate where they are all going to be at, I think Tom will go after Arnold instead of Cruz and Arnold will turn that around on McSpoiler.

Where's the other 32% of the voters in the survey? Are there more undecideds than support any one candidate?

One of two things either they're voting for the other 126 candidates or they're undecided.I wonder if they don't have the capability to poll the thousands of newly registered voters

I'm not in a very good position at the moment to bring up politics with neighbors. I work with the neighborhood watch so it's hard to bring up politics with my neighbors (else I will get fired! -- maybe I should just fire myself so I can talk with my neighbors more freely...

Offhand I would guess there is a fair amount of liberals in my area... Even with a reputation for being one of the more conservative areas in the Bay Area. There are a lot of immigrant professionals (Indians, Chinese) who as far as I can tell often vote liberal because they grew up in relatively socialist environments from their native countries and are fairly inured to them. But I also happen to know that most of the small business people are very conservative-- probably a very decent percentage of them would be for McClintock, especially if his poll numbers rise after the debate. My own church pastor surprised me by telling me he is for Arnold :-( . I didn't bother to argue since he is fairly politically attuned to begin with and figured it wasn't worth the effort to try to budge him (sheesh ;-).

I may be wrong but Silly Valley generally does not seem very conservative these days :-( . Apparently most have yet to learn the lesson about what more taxing and more spending will eventually lead to... I guess a lot of us are still having a liberal political hangover from the '60s.

I'm not saying McClintock will lose, or Arnold will win. I'll admit McClintock probably has his work cut out for him, though, on the liberal enclaves along the populated coast. Back in the country, I don't think of it as much a problem for McClintock, but that's not where the density is.

I'm OK with Arnold as a person, I guess (since McClintock is better I have not yet been forced to consider Arnold very seriously) but I don't like some of his positions. So I'll probably stick a McClintock sign in front of the old homestead around the time of the debate and hope for the best...

Arnold doesn't share too many conservative values. What point is there for a conservative to back him?

He is more conservative than Bustemonte.Look at the polls it's been Arnold or Cruz since day one and it still is.The only consistancy of these polls is Mclintock being in third.Sorry not trying to bash Tom just looking at the writing on the walls.

If the captain was so grossly incompetent that he piled the ship up on rocks, I sure as hell don't want his loyal "first mate" (who agreed with his every decision) taking over.

Come on, McClintock agreeing with every Davis decision???

Give me a break... and please keep your day job, you're still going to need it...

How many people watched the silly debate and how many watched Oprah. Can you figure it out? Perhaps, if you consider that the only thing that would have happened is Arnold being savaged by the demoncraps and their allies, ie, McX, and Arnold decided to rise above the occasion! LOL

"Republicans should get behind Arnold for when you put every one's votes together, he can beat Large Breasts hands down. Let's not blow it, people."

Stop dreaming. Too many insults from Arnold's liberal supporters. Arnold WILL NOT get our votes. To hell with the modern republican party, they're just clones of the democrats anyway.

How can you expect our votes when one of you asks for volunteers to disrupt a rally in San Diego where Mc is going to be a featured speaker. Do you think we're going to fall in line with that type of 60s type liberal BS. You people epitomize the clintonian approach to those who disagree with you.

Forget it, democrat party 2 has lost many of us, but, no matter, some of you think you're better off without us and that's ok with me. You're RINO candidates have received the last vote they'll ever get from me.

Geez. A lot of deleted messages. Two to me. What have you been saying?

I made one post that posted twice (so I did not post "A lot" of deleted messages, as you erroneously say here, but ONE), and here it is:

I have no idea why it would have been deleted. Do you find my comments offensive?

Actually, that is the first thing he said in his talk after the Tonight show taping. He said he didn't need to take any money because he has plenty of his own. I thought he said he couldn't be bought.

I did not interpret it as he wouldn't accept donations, but that he wouldn't be influenced by them due to need. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post Reply | Private Reply | To 193 | View Replies

"A Republican governor will provide a counterbalance to the Democrats when redistricting for the state legislature, resulting in more competitive seats."

A republican governor can do that with the democrats controlling all the other offices? I think not. The democrats will redistrict themselves so that republicans can win their seats? You're not serious?

Basically a Perot effect."

The same can be said of Arnold.

Where have you been?

Arnold came out in opposition to Ward Connerley's Prop54 and said that those who disagreed with him were "rightwing crazies". If that's not a major insult to conservatives, then I don't know what is.

In addition, Arnold has mentioned Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions and linked his candidacy of today, to that of "The Gippers" in 1966. Aside from both men being actors, theres absolutely no parallels between Reagan's efforts in 1966 and Arnold's efforts today. That should be crystal clear and starts with the simple fact, Reagan was a conservative Republican and Arnold is a liberal RINO. Its a brutal outrage for anyone to compare the two men. Arnold can admire Reagan all he wants, but he doesn't agree with Reagan's politics. Arnold shouldn't be attempting any linkage with Reagan, under such obvious, false pretences.

And finally, by not showing up for the debates and taking on Tom McClintock and his other political opponents, Arnold isn't only a coward, but he's abusing his status as a pop cult icon to garner votes. I wouldn't have a problem with Arnold's efforts in this regard, except for the obvious fact, he's relying on his Hollywood superstar billing, without any effort whatsoever, to explain his positions on the issues. That's why I say, his supporters continue to exhibit a level of infatuation that isn't natural.

Again, conservatives shouldn't be voting for liberals. Conservatives are out to defeat liberalism, not embrace it.
