If you figure the margin of error, Bush is almost EXACTLY where he has been since January, and has maintained a steady 56-60% rating in the absence of major gound action overseas. This is rather incredible, all the more so because he has been on vacation, basically "rope-a-doping" the Dems into using up all their stuff ONE YEAR before the election.

This is one reason the Dems are so desperate. Their crap hasn't stuck to Bush, and he hasn't even really started to campaign.

Now we know why shrillary pulled all the "hillary for pres" fake e-mails from her web site.

I bet the ashtrays are flying thick and fast tonight,

I wonder how General Wesley Clarke feels now....cut off at the knees perhaps....?

Other polls, I believe Fox and ABC/Washington Post have him at 58%. That's landslide territory, particularly for the third year of a first term president. Look for it to further improve as the economy continues to pick up, the stock market rebounds and Iraq stabilizes. It looks as though some other nations are now ready step up and share the responsibility in Iraq.

Bush is in far better shape than many think. Sure Bush's approval is down a little, but not like the sensationalist liberal media has portrayed it. Still, let's not become complacent and everyone work hard for a Bush landslide. It could also impact the House and Senate.

Some sugguestions to help re-elect President Bush:

1. Donate to Bush-Cheney '04 re-election campaign.
http://www.georgewbush.com

2. Join the Republican National Committee.
http://www.rnc.org/

3. Put a Bush 2004 bumper-sticker on your car, buy a Bush hat or t-shirt and wear it around. I get more complients and thumbs up on my Bush hat than anyone would believe. It shows grass root support.
http://www.georgewbushstore.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/scstore/bush_cheney_04_line.htm?L+scstore+qbgg9331+1063155855

4. Get involved with a your local Republican party and work the Bush campaign in 2004. Canvass, do literature drops, work a get out the vote phone bank.

5. Tell a relative, friend, or co-worker what a great job you think President Bush is doing.

6. Never back down from your beliefs!

Only 2% up? I'm sure Reuters considers that a decline. I'm surprised the headlines are not that the support is dipping or at least the rate of increase is dipping, or perhaps Bush's support among the Llamas of Chile is at a new low.

I think it's pretty clear from Clark's lousy performance on Thursday and his flip-flop on Friday that his campaign is stillborn. Not exactly the type of leadership we need during a global war on terror.

I say we call him 'Wobbly Wesley'.

Sorry, but your #6 is incompatible with 1 - 5.

I've done plenty of "backing down" from, or compromising, my beliefs politically in the past several years to support this administration.

Tell me what this administration has gotten for us conservative Christians. Not just words, or intentions expressed, but results.

Don't bother explaining the lack of results by blaming Congress, or the courts. What has this administration DONE for conservative Christians?

Clark's ...campaign is stillborn.

Clark was never intended as the main candidate, but rather as a stalking horse for clinton. Clark, being a decorated Army general, can sour the American people on the war on terror and plant doubts in people's minds about Bush's competence, while the media plants doubts about his honesty. Drive those poll numbers down, and clinton can jump in as the pres or VP candidate.

The bottom line is that Bush has not dipped below 50% at any time during his presidency.

I am not a historian, but is this not the first time ever that a president has maintained this ongoing favorable rating. I know other presidents including the pervert in chief had ratings below 40% at some time during their presidency.

However, the media makes it sound as if the people hate this president. So why are we not "marketing" his numbers better?

So --- I say GREAT JOB MR. PRESIDENT!!

What has this administration DONE for conservative Christians?

Stopped federal funding of abortions, continued support for faith based initiatives, total ban on human cloning etc.
None of which we would have seen under a President Gore.

This is one reason the Dems are so desperate. Their crap hasn't stuck to Bush, and he hasn't even really started to campaign.

The economy is kicking into gear now.....BIG TIME.

The first big month of new job growth will send his approval ratings back into the 60%s.

This summer has been his trough.

The Dems will be destroyed next year when we confirm Osama's death and catch Saddam.

Bush's trump card is Iran.
Iran WILL stop it's nuclear weapons program. one way or another.

The mullahs have seen what happened to Saddam.

The question is, "are they stupid too?"

Are you saying that Planned Parenthood no longer receives any federal funds? That's news to me.

What "faith based initiatives" have actually turned into action?

The cloning thing I'll give you.

Anything else?

Withdrew from Kyoto. Withdrew from the ABM Treaty. Not one but two major tax cuts.

I think Clark's role is to diminish the other Democratic candidates, and Hillary and Bill's continued teasing about whether or not she's running is part of it too.

Hillary knows that Bush is probably going to win next year, and she can't let any other Democrat become the undisputed leader of the party. Their 2004 candidate has to go down in flames. So Dean must be weakened now, and not allowed to continue his momentum, and note that if Kerry was the frontrunner, as he should have been, Clark would overshadow him too.

But if something bad happens for Bush, and reelection is unlikely, then Hillary can slide in with Clark, or dump him with some timely information about Waco or Kosovo or something.

As far as something bad happening that is bad for Bush's chances in 2004, the economy is improving and it would take something bigger than 9/11 to really damage it. And while that wouldn't be good for Bush, he would probably get a patriotism surge that would counter the bad economy.

And which Democrat would do better at protecting the country? The people know - none of them.

Not even Clark, with his wishy-washedness on the Iraq war vote.

So Clark is Hillary's puppet, but she's still thinking about 2008, I think.
