Hockey season just ended. Let's like enjoy some college football for a few months.
Lord knows, hockey doesn't matter until March anyway.

1) I would like to see some sort of statistical analysis to prove your supposed complaint that "the trap" has lowered hockey scores.
2) IMHO, they need to do something about the floating net nullification rule. My suggestion: paint a yellow stripe on the net/bars and only if the puck enters anywhere near or above that does the "net off it's moorings" rule apply. I.e., pucks that cross the line on ice are goals regardless!
3) Pardon my ignorance, but who is Gary Bettman? I hope he ain't with the Ducks... which brings me to:
4) Ain't nuthin' wrong with expansion. It's why I'm a new fan. GO DUCKS!!!

I tend to agree with Xthe17th. The neutral-zone trap is not the real problem in the NHL -- the Montreal Canadiens were one of the most exciting teams in the league in the late 1970s, and they played the trap to perfection.

Gary Bettman is the commissioner...and under his reign we had a lockout and fighting is being phased out so I'm not a fan of his.
Oh yeah...GO WINGS! Go Hasek!

Yes, expansion has diluted the pool of players of this sport to such a degree that only major markets can afford the skilled players. Thus the minor markets develop lesser players and also get first shot at the top picks. Only to lose them in the money game later on.
Teams that cannot carry thier own weight should be dropped from the league instead of whining about player salarys and profit sharing.

In addition to this league, would anyone be interested in joining a FHL Sim league? It could be the Free Republic Fantasy Hockey League. To get an idea of what I am talking about, here is a link to another league that I am in-
GWHL . This type of league is a little more involved than the Yahoo! leagues, but also presents more of a challenge for the true hockey fan.

Only to lose them in the money game later on.While there may be a little truth to what you are saying, there is a much larger pool of talent being drawn from now than there was back in the 70's and most of the 80's. There were some truly horrid teams back in those decades, far worse than any of the so-called bad teams in the current era.
Back in the day, virually all of the players were from Canada, which was an extremely small pool of talent to draw from. Now, even small countries like Austria and Switzerland are producing NHL-caliber players, so I don't really buy the complaint that there aren't enough good players in the league. One major difference now is that there are now more good goaltenders than there used to be; coaching techniques and more system-based play also have contributed to a decline in scoring.
