... as it would better his chances in 2006.

I will NOT support someone in '06, if they destroy the Republican party today.

Califonia's Recall Election Vote is Underway

For a number of months the citizens of California toiled to obtain enough votes to force a recall election of Governor Gray Davis.  Along the way Daryl Issa jumped in to help, spending several million dollars of his own money to support the effort.  The drive to obtain enough signatures was successful.

The recall was certified, a date set for the election and candidates signed up.  Leading republican candidate Daryl Issa withdrew from the race.  Peter Ueberroth withdrew from the race.  Tom McClintock didn't.  Today we are two and one half weeks away from turning this state over to new leadership, Tom cannot win and now he's seems determined to make sure Schwarzenegger won't either.

This Recall effort was initiated to wrest control of the state away form the democrats.  Today the odds are that Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante will be the next governor of our state.  His leading challenger has been handicapped by the dogged refusal of his only meaningful party oppenent to withdraw from the race.  Yesterday republican Tom McClintock negotiated with democrat Cruz Bustamante to develop a strategy to hinder the chances of the leading republican party candidate from winning the election, by manipulating the process of a debate scheduled for Wednesday 09/24.  This may or may not work as planned.

Clearly, this type of activity could mean that Six months worth of effort would have been expended to do nothing more than turn the reigns of the state over to someone exponentially worse than Governor Gray Davis.

Today Tom Mc(I'm in it for myself) has been drawing votes through absentee ballot for thirteen days.  He has potentially locked up around 5% of the vote so far.  By election day he could have bound up 7 to 12% of the vote before 70% of the state's populace even goes to the polls.

So you will allow his democratic opposition to win in 06? Isn't that the same type of non alliance to the "party" the arnold supporters are attacking the Tom supporters for for?

The Party is already destroyed. A politically incompetent Republican like Schwarzenegger as governor, with the added minus of being a RINO, will only make things worse.

That's why I'm voting no on the recall.

Any Republican that supports McC for another race in his lifetime is no Republican IMHO! McC is out to destroy the Republican chances in the Recall for his own personal gain.

Time for all Republicans to get off the dime and let McC know he will not be supported in another run for any office except by his 5% fan club who will stick with him regardless. Time for the CA GOP to give him a few facts.

Wonder if the 5%ers are willing to give him the big campaign donations he will need in the future to run -- never mind, he can just go to the Indians for that as long as he is after other Republicans!

Wonder what the spin by the McC folks are going to be today about how the "principled" conservative is standing up for his "principles?" If McC is an example of a "principled" conservative, then we are in trouble in the Republican Party!
