ATF Night Hosted by California Assembly Nominee John Brantuk Telephone: (562) 698-2870 email: John.W.Brantuk@BrantukForAssembly.org www.BrantukForAssembly.org
What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.
Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly ( see www.BrantukForAssembly.org )
You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "1ST DEBATE" - from the San Francisco Chronicle 09/04/2003 On many of the issues Wednesday night, McClintock stood alone. He opposed abortion, vowed never to raise taxes and called for fewer restrictions on gun ownership, since "people have a fundamental right to defend themselves from violent predators."
His strong conservative stances likely won him some votes, possibly at the expense of more moderate Republicans such as Schwarzenegger and Ueberroth.
Republican analyst Tony Quinn said McClintock stood out from the pack of other hopefuls.
"Arnold's problem is they've got to get rid of McClintock -- and this hurt him," he said. "This gave McClintock the attention he won't get otherwise."
Pollster Mervyn Field agreed. "Arnold was hurt tonight," he said. "The question was: If he'd have been here, would he have been hurt more?"
"McClintock was forceful, and remarkable in his contrasts on positions" from the others.

Quoting him is an attack? Then it seems that the truth is his enemy, just as he is an enemy of the RTKA.

My temper-tantrums? Have you actually read this thread???
You Arniebots are trashing a good and decent man, who also happens to be a friend of mine. He is a God fearing Christian that is pro-life, pro-2A, pro-lower taxes, pro-closed borders, pro national defense and pro-family.
His only crime is to give a forum to the two Republican front-runners, one of which has not responded. Not even in the negative. Until he or one of his handlers at least responds with a "no thank you" I will consider him both ignor

I have to wonder if either of you understood me to have directed your comments to me in such a manner. I was the first to note and to decry the behavior on this thread. I recognized immediately what had happened here, as it's happened to me as well.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/977649/posts It happened on two of my constructive original threads. I hadn't even posted my ping list, and the disrupters had already gone to work. Two McClintock haters had slipped in between number 1 and number 4. Now that was fast! They couldn't have had time to have read it, which meant they had to be on auto-attack mode. And, as it turned out, one of the disrupters hit both threads early. Here he is at my second thread:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/983247/posts?page=4#4 I described this behavior, to another who decrid, it thusly:
Picture 'em lurking the forum, their primitive senses keenly awaiting the next whiff of McClintock supporters. Then they spring to deliver their next standard mindless attacks. This was at
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/977649/posts?page=44#44 So, DD, there are a few people, if you peruse many of the threads, who do this regularly. You may have chosen to avoid much here at FR precisely because of such activity. That's why they are known as disrupters. You have reacted to their behavior in disgust. Do you really want to get angry at those who choose to stay around and defend against their onslaught? Or do you choose to take a neutral sounding position "I have seen so much unpleasantness on both sides..." in the hopes they won't attack you too? Your ability to be informed has been attacked by all this, "...that sometimes it's hard to even visit this place anymore" so you really have been targetted, just not personally.
So, DD and Mr. B., please make an effort to make a distinction between the combatants. You are Americans, not Europeans. ;)

ATF night is a monthly event....I do not think Tom has anything to do with the "standing room only" comment. I have been to meetings in the past & there is always at least 40-50 folks there. Tom will draw more people than usual, thus the warning from the ATF night host Mr. B...

If they really believed that, they would hold THIS one meeting in a larger place.
Be it as it may, the bottom line is that Arnold draws thousands, Tom is lucky to draw 100.
When is he going to wise up and drop out? He draws just enough, to make it possible for Bustamante to win.
You might as well put up a "VIVA GOBERNADOR BUSTAMANTE" poster at the event.
To: Roscoe; 68 grunt
You keep quoting him out of context.
He also said this:
SCHWARZENEGGER: Outlawing guns is not the right method of eliminating the problem. If you outlaw guns, people will still have them illegally. In Europe, they're outlawed everywhere. They have very strict gun control in Italy. Yet the Pope was shot. They have very strict gun control in Germany. Yet you see pimps shooting one another. Politicians have been shot in Sweden and Holland, where guns are outlawed.

Also, as "68 grunt" pointed out, coming out strongly against the various gun laws in CA is political suicide. He favors making sure that criminals don't have guns, but not to take guns away from law abiding citizens. What is the problem with that stand?
To: FairOpinion
Hope to see you there!
To: Tony in Hawaii
"Hope to see you there!"

Thanks, I may come to one of the other ATF events, but on this one, I couldn't be sure, that I could keep myself from suggesting to Tom, that for the good of his own career, the Republicans and California he should withdraw now, with dignity, while he can.
(At some earlier time, I may have been interested to come and hear him speak, but now it's really too late for him to say anything, except : "I withdraw so we can have a united Republican stand against the Democrats".
But any of you, feel free to give him my message. ;)
To: FairOpinion
Arnold's gun control advocacy is as left wing as Bustamante, Davis and Feinstein. Even they haven't called for outlawing all guns.
Also, as "68 grunt" pointed out, coming out strongly against the various gun laws in CA is political suicide.
It's called the "big lie technique".

You've been a relentless dissenter from the start. But you won't show up now.
You say you don't want to interrupt our love fest. But you are willing to let someone else do it in your stead "But any of you, feel free to give him my message."
You pose as offering "logic," or rather the same tired message, over and over and over, such that Goebbels would be proud. But you, in your weakness, still feel compelled to regularly buttress your "arguments" with threats such as "for the good of his own career."
And we already know what you think of principles. You've demonstrated that well throughout this entire issue, this thread being no different.
Yeah, I think I pegged you right. < sarcasm > You are, definitely, an admirable FO. < /sarcasm >
