ATF Night Hosted by California Assembly Nominee John Brantuk Telephone: (562) 698-2870 email: John.W.Brantuk@BrantukForAssembly.org www.BrantukForAssembly.org

What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.

Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly ( see www.BrantukForAssembly.org )

You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "1ST DEBATE" - from the San Francisco Chronicle 09/04/2003 On many of the issues Wednesday night, McClintock stood alone. He opposed abortion, vowed never to raise taxes and called for fewer restrictions on gun ownership, since "people have a fundamental right to defend themselves from violent predators."

His strong conservative stances likely won him some votes, possibly at the expense of more moderate Republicans such as Schwarzenegger and Ueberroth.

Republican analyst Tony Quinn said McClintock stood out from the pack of other hopefuls.

"Arnold's problem is they've got to get rid of McClintock -- and this hurt him," he said. "This gave McClintock the attention he won't get otherwise."

Pollster Mervyn Field agreed. "Arnold was hurt tonight," he said. "The question was: If he'd have been here, would he have been hurt more?"

"McClintock was forceful, and remarkable in his contrasts on positions" from the others.

If you are so familiar with Hewitt already then you know he has explained why it is preferable to vote for Arnold many times and in different columns.

I understand the reasoning and I myself was the first to write about the importance of not splitting the vote and coalescing behind one candidate to not split the vote to ensure Cruz lose.

As I said, I have become less sure of that. A number of things tunred me and many others off to Schwarzenegger. I am not a purist, nor am I a McClintcock supporter per se or a priori.

But I no longer see an advantage in Schwarzenegger being governor over Bustamante within the context of California's current situation. This is not a kneejerk reaction. My kneejerk reaction was congruent with Hewitt's arguments.

Who did that, do you know? Some good thoughts. I'm going to have to read the whole essay.

Even that snippet sounds something that I think some of my (should-be) good friends among have seemingly skipped right over: that there is a difference between compromising one's personal morality and convictions and values, and working towards a shared goal with someone who does not share all of one's convictions and moralities. The first, my namesake is not recorded as ever doing. The second, he necessarily did every day.

Thanks.

That is so sadly funny. Do you never frequent pro-Arnold threads? If I post a thread saying that Arnold Schwarzenegger is a human being, it will be instantly filled with scorched-earthers slinging hollow, vicious slogans, graphics, and snipings against anyone who dares to buckk their orthodox creed of who one may and may not vote for.

Look to your house first, I'd say.

<< NO, NO, NO. You for once stand up for what you claim. PLEASE LOSE your post name and verse. Any real Christian finds your use of Scripture -- while supporting Arnold -- to be offensive. Christians do not support the killing of unborn children. >>

Wow. You can speak for all Christians?

So full of yourself, but unable to answer simple questions or dialogue with a smidge of Christian humility and patience.

So, O arbiter and self-selected perfect embodiment of all that Christians may and may not do and think, where did you have dinner last? For whom did you vote in the last Presidential election? Happy with that vote?

And, only after you answer those questions, where have I supported the killing of unborn children? Or do you owe me an apology for the foulest of slander?

Another guest at ATF Night (and my favorite) was Walter Ehlers, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor. That was amazing!

Off work tonight, so we will be there!

Yes, that same old tired argument. It is real hard to judge just what the Grassroots support for someone is from 2000 miles away.

How many So.Cal. papeers due you read on a daily basis?
Were you at the Ca. Republican convention? Didn't think so!
(clue: I was).

"Stop sending socialists to Congress."

Why? You want to send a Social Program loving, gay loving, illegal drivers licensse loving, abortion loving, don't want to repeal the assault weapons law(most oppressive in the country) LIBERAL to Sacramento!

"Wow. You can speak for all Christians?"

WOW! It's hard to believe you are a Christian, from some of your unkind remarks about Tom's looks!

You must be thinking of someone else. Others have, but I don't think I've ever made an unkind remark about his looks.

I asked about his eyes. I really don't understand them. Am I not allowed to ask?

So what about someone who claims to speak for all Christians? If he votes for McClintock, does that get a "pass " with you?

It is referring to a European system, but I enjoyed it! With the title "God in Politics" it really grabbed my attention.... some good thoughts there :-)
