ATF Night Hosted by California Assembly Nominee John Brantuk Telephone: (562) 698-2870 email: John.W.Brantuk@BrantukForAssembly.org www.BrantukForAssembly.org
What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.
Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly ( see www.BrantukForAssembly.org )
You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "1ST DEBATE" - from the San Francisco Chronicle 09/04/2003 On many of the issues Wednesday night, McClintock stood alone. He opposed abortion, vowed never to raise taxes and called for fewer restrictions on gun ownership, since "people have a fundamental right to defend themselves from violent predators."
His strong conservative stances likely won him some votes, possibly at the expense of more moderate Republicans such as Schwarzenegger and Ueberroth.
Republican analyst Tony Quinn said McClintock stood out from the pack of other hopefuls.
"Arnold's problem is they've got to get rid of McClintock -- and this hurt him," he said. "This gave McClintock the attention he won't get otherwise."
Pollster Mervyn Field agreed. "Arnold was hurt tonight," he said. "The question was: If he'd have been here, would he have been hurt more?"
"McClintock was forceful, and remarkable in his contrasts on positions" from the others.

NO, NO, NO. You for once stand up for what you claim. PLEASE LOSE your post name and verse. Any real Christian finds your use of Scripture -- while supporting Arnold -- to be offensive.
Christians do not support the killing of unborn children.

Give us all a break. Your Arnold is a political coward who can't even debate the issues with a smart man without the questions in advance and cue cards.
As for homosexual domestic partnerships, it is just about the same as homosexual marriage. Virtually all the benefits of marriage have been given to homosexuals -- and that's what Arnold supports. The people of California in Prop. 22 in March 2000 defined marriage as between a man and a woman.
The Democrats and Arnold SPIT on the people.

Please show me where Bustamante has ever made a statement like this one:
Arnold: "Outlawing guns is not the right method of eliminating the problem. If you outlaw guns, people will still have them illegally. In Europe, they're outlawed everywhere. They have very strict gun control in Italy. Yet the Pope was shot. They have very strict gun control in Germany. Yet you see pimps shooting one another."

As I said, it is your absolute right to vote for McClintock. Don't, however, insist that Bustamante and Arnold share the same views about the 2cnd Amendment.
Have fun at ATF night :-)

His people know that Tom would take him apart in a debate without prepared questions...
That's what they said that Jimmy Carter would do to the Gipper in a debate.
And, what AlGore would do to Dubya.
They were WRONG then, too. :o)
Some of my best friends are wonks and nerds, and God knows we need them to provide the "right answers" to the problems of the day...
...but they would get their clocks cleaned in a debate with someone with the solid "people skills" of a Reagan, or a George W - or an Arnold.
Having good ideas is necessary, but it is not ENOUGH, when it comes to winning a debate.Or, being governor. :o)

Not that same tired "you don't live in California" garbage. My husband's a native Californian, sweetie, and we have a large amount of family there. We turned down a long-awaited transfer to California last year because of the problems that SOME folks have created by refusing to solidly support the GOP.
Additionally, California is hurting Bush and the entire country. You don't like folks commenting on your elections? Stop sending socialists to Congress.

Are you familiar with the analogy of the boiled frog? This is California politics to a "T". So please with the Grabber-A is better than Grabber-B stuff. They both want my guns, your guns, everyone's guns. The only difference is how.
And everyone starts off by saying they don't want more gun control laws. Do I really need to bring up some Davis campaign quotes for you, schatz?
Gun rights supporters use 2A as a litmus test for a reason. A very GOOD reason.
And I guarantee you all gun rights supporters are looking at this thread and seeing only one candidate who made the right choice and has a track record of sticking to his word.
And only one candidate with the huevos to actually show up and answer questions from ordinary people about it.

Tamsey, Mr.B.goes.to.Washington, who started this thread has done really well at holding to the high ground. We all have to remember what this event is about. I'm interested.

. . . but they would get their clocks cleaned in a debate with someone with the solid "people skills" of a Reagan, or a George W - or an Arnold. Is this the same Arnold that the Schwarzepubbies have been busily defending for his "stupid," "thoughtless," "he-didn't-mean-what-he-said," "he-was-searching-for-the-words" comments?
Arnold would do fine in a debate if he didn't have to squeeze the words past his size 14 brogans.
"We want to make sure the mothers have affordable day care. We want to make sure the older folks have their care that they need. That everything has to be provided for the people." -- A. Schwarzenegger, CNN Interview

As I said, you will vote as you feel best...
Just remember you are taking a HUGE gamble... the odds are way against you and the consequences are terrible if you lose. Not just consequences that YOU will suffer, but all Californians, consequences that can impair Bush's re-election, future conservative Supreme Court appointments if Bush loses, and a still Democrat-California behind Hillary's future bid on the White House.

So you give up.
OK.
Play pretend Californian.
It is strange how the biggest Schwarzenegger zealots are not from California.
My opinion has changed. Initially I felt elected a Republican, including Schwarzenegger and most likley him, was an overriding goal. I no longer believe it is cut and dried that there is greater benefit in Schwarzenegger winning compared to Bustamante.
Maybe someday you can visit California. You'd enjoy it.
To: SteveH
I disagree but, as I said, vote the way you feel is best and enjoy the results.
