[history]
Jose Maria Aznar hasn't just turned Spain into a staunch U.S. ally and economic dynamo, he's also doing something no other Spanish leader has since Charles V abdicated in 1556 -- he's preparing to leave office of his own accord. I put this to him last week in an interview -- adding, in jest, that Charles V's record might need an asterisk against it as he was only half-Spanish -- and Mr. Aznar did something even more unusual: He laughed. "Si," he chuckled, after some thought.

"I want Hispanics there to know that they have common European roots and a heritage that can be as solid as the Anglo-Saxon one." The Chicanos/AZTLANistas will not be happy to here this. They take more pride in their Aztec/Mexica heritage over their Spanish one.
For starters, he's going to Miami this month -- "to be with the Cubans.")
He'll be better accepted down there. As King Juan Carlos found on his visit a few years back, Cubans take pride in their Iberian heritage, many of them (including Fidel himself) being 2-4 generations removed from Spain.

Que viva Aznar!
Un heroe sin igual en Europa!

"...he tells us that the Middle East Road Map has failed -- for the moment at least. "There's no road and there's no map," he said..."
This doesn't sound like someone who would campaign for Bush.

Many so-called "Mexicans" are in fact Indians, and haven't an ounce of Spanish blood in them.
It isn't the Mexicans with strong European roots who are flooding across our borders, that's for sure.

Aznar is both an ally and an accomplished
wise-@$$. "There's no road and there's no map." ranks right up there with him instructing the UN "Cease and desist from this obvious strategy of impotence."
Jose Marie Aznar makes me begrudge the small portion of my pay check that gets sent to Spain far less than the foreign aide we sent to say Saudi Arabia, France or Germany.

It's kinda funny, they act so proud of their spanish language and custorms let they ignore the fact it comes a WHITE EUROPEAN background and not any kind of indigious culture. If they were indigious, they'd all be using those little Mayan symbols on their organizations. Also ironic that the pure-blooded Indians who really CAN claim ancestry here have all become 2nd class citizens in "hispanic" countries like Mexico.
If only Mexico had gotten a REAL conservative like Anzar instead of that socialist cylmer Vicente Fox.

Ironic, isn't it? The only conservative "hispanics" in charge of anything are the ones in EUROPE!

Ironic, isn't it? The only conservative "hispanics" in charge of anything are the ones in EUROPE! Costa Rica, albeit only in the executive office. Let's not forget Uribe in Colombia, a great man leading a valiant fight against both terrorism and the enemies of economic Freedom.
Other than that, unfortunately, most of LA is currently under leftist control. Eastern Europe has the same problem at the moment, though at least the governing coalition (which includes the Communists) in Poland are pro-American.
