I believe one hellacious mass of folks are having identical thoughts. Fervently.
Well, one can hope that the notion of "mind over matter" holds some water.

Brit Hume called the 9th Circuit opinion "adventurous," implying it wouldn't hold water.

See my comments on this thread. In 1976 I obtained one of these Emergency Orders to change the conditions (put McCarthy on the ballot as an independent candidate for President). This can be done. This will, I believe, be done.

And the ACLU signed an agreement with the state of California that DOES NOT require the punch card system to be replaced until the 2004 Presidential Election. So the court let the ACLU stop the machines from being replaced until they thought could win?

Brit Hume just said he thinks the appeals court overreached with this ruling. There is no federal issue involved here.

It will go before Justice O'Connor as the Circuit Justice.
Fox News says it will first go to Justice Kennedy.

WHEN DO WE FREEP?!?!? and where? I think the 9th court is in downtown L.A....or SF?

Ya know, I thought this election warranted a big bowl of popcorn (with real butter), but now I'm upgrading to salsa, guac & chips. If it gets any weirder, I'm going to pull out all stops & do the Packer tailgating thing.

Based on that I would think that they would slap down the 9th on the grounds that this is a State matter and doesn't have standing in the Federal Court system.

What a total pile of crap. The latest numbers I just heard on Fox News was that the ruling covers counties that represent 44% of California voters. If this ruling covers 44% of voters, how could it be strictly disenfranchising minority voters? Do they give different punch card ballots to white people? Or even better, which minority are they concerned about? Blacks, asians, caucasians, who?
To: King Prout
Agreed.

Well, the 9th Circuit Clown Court has just taken the focus off the Tom/Arnold show, and refocused it on stopping an election. I hope the Democrats (well, I'm not sure about the 15% of unsavables that Larry Elder talks about) will see these socialists for what they really are. That they they're TOO STUPID TO VOTE!

Well, we knew they would over reach. The question now is whether the SCOTUS will take it. I doubt they will.

A federal appeals court postponed California's Oct. 7 gubernatorial recall election, ruling the historic vote cannot proceed as scheduled because some votes would be cast using outmoded punch-card ballot machines. What a bunch of whinnycandyassfrickencrybabies. They have had punch cards around forever. It doesn't take much effort to punch. I could see the elderly having a problem punching them.... but... that's it!! It's all those dead people who need to vote that won't be able to do so.

Essentially SCOTUS will stay the 9th Circuit's decision. The election proceeds and SCOTUS will not hear of it again?
