Lou Sheldon (CMG) TV ad: "RECALL POINTLESS IF SCHWARZENEGGER IS GOVERNOR"
Californians for Moral Government/Traditional Values Coalition ^ | Sep. 13 '03 | Californians for Moral Government

Los Angeles - Californians for Moral Government previewed a television advertisement at the Republican State Convention today, which says there is little difference between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Gray Davis and if that is the voters' choice then the recall is pointless.

The narrator in the advertisement concludes with the question: "You have to ask yourself - if all we are doing is trading one bad liberal tax-raising politician for another - why bother with the recall?" "You may not need values to win an election but you need values to govern California," said CMG Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon. "Neither Gray Davis nor Arnold Schwarzenegger possess the necessary moral standards."

The 60-second spot is scheduled to run in both the Sacramento and Los Angeles markets starting next week and will be broadcast in major markets throughout the state in the coming weeks.

The advertisement features footage of Arnold Schwarzenegger "morphing" into Gray Davis as a narrator recites identical positions taken by the liberal politicians.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger is pro-abortion," the narration said.

"So is Gray Davis.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger is in favor of gay adoptions."

"So is Gray Davis."

"Arnold Schwarzenegger refuses to sign the no new taxes pledge."

"Wow, so does Gray Davis."

"Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks people who support traditional values are 'religious fanatics' "

"So does Gray Davis."

James Lafferty, CMG's consultant, said the group plans to buy about $1 million ($1,000,000) in advertising on television and talk radio stations in the coming weeks.

(To arrange an interview with Rev. Sheldon or to obtain a copy of the advertisement, please contact James Lafferty at 714-520-0300)

Californians for Moral Government

Don't know anything about this moral group, but I wonder whose morals they would have us all follow? I hope they aren't a bunch of self-righteous asses but it sounds like they are.

Well, they're pointing out the gay adoption issue - - which I've tried to bring to freepers' attention.

IMO the most important mission is to attack Cruz Bustamante and remind Californians of the dangers of social and economic liberalism.

Continue being engaged in the debate over our State's future, and vote our conscience.

Most important, given media's liberal leaning, is to attack and remind ... ABOUT THE BAD GUYS.

So, Sheldon would rather keep Davis?

Lou's turning into a mental midget.

This is a pretty risky ploy by Rev. Sheldon. If Arnold wins, the Rev. -- who's been close to Republican power circles, as I understand -- will be way out in the cold, and he'll look marginalized and impotent. On the other hand, the gay adoption issue deserves discussion - - and not even McClintock has been raising it.

He has been a mental midget for years. His attitude has always been one of "it's my way or the highway". Just another example of a conservative extremist who would rather have no loaf of bread than 3/4 of a loaf.

Sorry to break it to you, but Lou's been way out in the cold for a long time. Pubbies know he is political poison in California, and wish he were kept in the closet.

How did the "gay adoption issue" get into this race? Is this a single-issue race?

There must be more important issues surrounding this gubernatorial race.

(Besides, I really don't want to adopt any gays and I don't know anybody who does. Can't the gays take care of themselves without someone adopting them?)

Be that as it may, if they're really going to run 1 mill dollars worth of these ads on Christian radio stations, it's not gonna help Arnold.

I think it might help Arnold. It would probably attract more votes for Arnold than it would lose. After all, if voters somewhat concerned about the fiscal house in California, but are social liberals, perceive that to them a nutter like Lou dislikes Arnold, then Arnold must be OK. I hope Lou spends (wastes) his million. I hope he bleeds himself dry.

Will The Real Arnold Schwarzenegger Stand Up?

Friday, September 05 @ 10:02:16 CDT

Summary: Californians for Moral Government leader Rev. Louis P. Sheldon has issued a challenge to Arnold Schwarzenegger to repent over his past life of immorality.

Californians for Moral Government (CMG), a division of the Traditional Values Coalition Victory Fund has issued a call to Arnold Schwarzenegger to repent of his past life of immorality. CMG leader Rev. Louis P. Sheldon has noted: "With the recent report about Arnold Schwarzenegger's past sexual orgies, it is clear he has an X-rated past. It is unclear if Schwarzenegger's future for California will be G-rated or XX-rated."

"We must hear from Arnold Schwarzenegger if he has repented and repudiated these past sexually promiscuous acts. As a married man and family man he must clear the air that he is not continuing in this vain from the past."

More on Rev. Sheldon and Schwarzenegger is available here: Traditional Values Coalition. Newsweek, September 8, 2003, quoted Rev. Sheldon: "Can you trust this man? He needs to fully repent." More here: Did Arnold Like to Party? Mais Oui!

The Orange County Register (September 1, 2003) reported on the dilemma many Christians are facing in the recall election scheduled for October 7th. The Rev. Dan Davidson, pastor of Bethel Baptist in Santa Ana, for example, has observed: "Over the years, we've voted for the lesser of two evils. But I can't vote for someone who's socially liberal, even if he's fiscally conservative."

Colleen Algario told the Register: "If a leader doesn't have any moral values, I don't know how he can expect others to abide by the law. For me, abortion is a big issue. I'm completely against it. Same with homosexual issues. I believe it's a perversion of natural law."

The Register also reported that CMG was sending out letters of concern to 10,000 pastors in California on Schwarzenegger's stands on moral issues.

To read Rev. Sheldon's press release and other materials on the California recall, go to TVC's home page: http://www.traditionalvalues.org

TAKE ACTION: If you're a California resident or if you know someone who lives in California, please download these materials and/or email them to your friends or family, media outlets, local politicians, etc. The election is October 7th. Every registered voter in California should have answers to these ten questions from Schwarzenegger before October 7th. **

**If you need to register to vote, please click on this link to register: http://www.smartvoter.org/. You have until September 22nd to register for the October 7th recall election.
