A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

We are blessed in our community with lots of Amish families. That gives us access to all those farm-fresh homemade goodies we love so well.

Yes, old hurricane pro here in the house too!
We will get flooding. FLOYD was the WORSE for flooding!
I stocked up on batteries, water, things that can be cooked stove top rather than oven and masking tape today.
The only worries I have is two large maple trees that will be coming down eventually. Every storm, I don't sleep too much. I watch for those trees. One is right in the path to hit my sons' room. So, we will be sleeping in my daughter's room.
So, I only anticipate a mess. But messes can be cleaned.

Now that sounds like a wonderful childhood! I really think that is how all children should be raised.
I am shocked everytime I go to the zoo with my kids and I hear children AND adults calling donkeys, horses; geese, ducks; pheasants, some sort of chicken; etc.
Kids miss alot not being around animals. There is an entire perception that never developes.

Fun project. Take a glass jar. Baby food jars are PERFECT! Stick it in the fridge to get nice and cold.
Fill it halfway with whipping cream. SHAKE! Shake for around 30 minutes.
When it starts to get thick and creamy, pour off the liquid floating at top (drink it, YUM, buttermilk)
Voula! Fresh butter!

Yes, I have many friends in NC still. They usually evacuate after boarding up.
Is Emerald Isle close to Alligator Ally? Frank did a bit of work out that way.

I still can tomatoes for homemade gravy (yes, Tomato Sauce is called gravy by italians. Sauce means a white, pesto or garlic sauce. Tomato Gravy is made with meats. Hence Gravy)

I'm so sorry to here about your brother in law. I hope your sister in law doesn't suffer too much.
We have a bamboo cane that we started all our kids out on fishing. They are now all up to rod and reel. Including my youngest, Frankie, he is 3.
Might be women only night. We are on the back end of the Sugar and Spice thread!

I hope I don't lose power to stay on FR through the hurricane!
Hey Colleen, any idea if our power was FIXED or PATCHED since the blackout? I was wondering about that. I know we are on two different companies; but we both got hit.
Last I heard unofficially, the power was only patched. You hear anything? That can make a difference when the storm hits.

I hope you have power too - in Taiwan after typhoons we would have no electricity for up to 5 days. Especially hard looking across the valley at housea with sparkling light and power and TV and music, while we couldn't flush our toilet. LOL

Now THAT sounds yummy! Nothing beats homemade.
It gets harder and hard to make things homemade here. The stores stock more and more instint foods and less raw foods to make things from scratch. It is frustrating when I want to make stuff and can't find ingredients.

That is a benefit for having sewers versus septic
You can always force flush.
I'm about off to bed here too. It is midnight.
Keep your monitor bolted from earthquakes :)

I am so sorry I have not had a spare minute to answer any of my pings. What a weekend this has been!
For those who might not know, the Fresno/Central Valley Chapter had their annual rally and picnic this weekend and, believe it or not, we had the police and press sicked on us by Debbie Reyes, a member of the Fresno "Human Relations Commission", a group funded by the City of Fresno, to monitor "human relations" (at a taxpayer cost of over $190,000). The fax received by the press and police called us a "hate group". The purpose of the fax was to warn of our rally and our "Free Republic Hate Rally Picnic".
Needless to say, the lid has blown wide open on this. This issue has been the lead story on several news stations, and was the cover story in the Fresno Bee this morning. The Mayor of Fresno is outraged and is attempting to temporarily suspend the HRC. We are stunned and outraged also.
There are several threads running about this issue. For those interested in more information on this, click on these threads:
Fresno, California's Annual Tailgate Picnic 9/13/03, aka: the "Free Republic Hate Rally Picnic" (the thread includes pictures of this scary group).
VIDEO OF NEWS STORY ON FRESNO "HATE" RALLY AND PICNIC HERE!!!
To make a long story short, it has been impossible to keep up with things and pings this weekend, but wanted you all to know that I haven't been intentionally ignoring you or my weekend thread.
Thank you all for being here. I hope you've had a nice weekend. Mine has been interesting, to say the least. LOL.
