A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 9/11/03

Posted on 09/11/2003 3:14:25 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush, joined by First Lady Laura, and Vice President and Mrs. Cheney, observed a moment of silence on the White House lawn this morning to honor the victims of the September 11th, 2001 tragedies. The First Couple began the day with a memorial service at St. John's Episcopal Church, and later in the afternoon visited wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army hospital. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd;
        I shall not want.
        2He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
        He leads me beside the still waters.
        3He restores my soul;
        He leads me in the paths of righteousness
        For His name's sake.

        4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
        I will fear no evil;
        For You are with me;
        Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

        5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
        You anoint my head with oil;
        My cup runs over.
        6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
        All the days of my life;
        And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
        Forever.

Nice to see you Rintense!

Like most Americans I spent the morning watching the tributes to 911 on the news channels this morning. It was moving to watch the children of victims read off each name at the WTC site. Brought tears to my eyes, and rage to my heart all over again that they had to suffer such a loss. I will be angry forever I think over this, and the left's indifference to our security. They are just under the terrrorists themselves in my mind as dangerous to our nation.

God Bless Our President and our armed forces fighting for our security and freedom in an increasingly hostile world. Thanks Rintense for the lovely tribute pictures.

Thank God we have an administration who is determined to stay the course in spite of all of the outrageously partisan opposition against it. They do know right from wrong, and evil when they see it. And we have seen much evil in the past few years both from within the nation, and from outside.

CONGRATULATIONS on your video showing. Now perhaps the RNC will get ahold of you for a tribute to W for the campaign. Wouldn't that be cool?

I am apparently off of your ping list, though, as I didn't get a ping. Sniff, sniff...could you put me back on?

Loved the photos from 9/11/01 and then today's right after. Very moving and appropriate.

On a rather disgusting note, my kids school did absolutely NOTHING to acknowledge 9/11. Not a word, not a moment of silence, nada. Pisses me off.

It's really true that the attacks were on all of America, but when I look at the photos, all I can think about are those dear, ordinary people who were killed, and the precious families and friends they left behind.

I am so very thankful GW Bush is our President. We should all keep him in our prayers each and every day. I'm so glad we have a President who loves God and whose heart is open to God.

Thanks for all the photos today, rintense.

***God Bless President Bush for not backing down.***

How absolutely true. President Bush's resolve, his refusal to back down is what's gotten us this far.

I just watched the first hour of the Showtime movie. I've developed an even greater respect for Dubya, and I didn't think that was possible. There were so many decisions, and so much to overcome in order to get us on the right track and keep us there. The President was magnificent in his clear vision, in his decisions, and in his unflagging resolve.

(I'll bet the liberals HATE that movie. And I loved the part where Daschle objects to the President's plan to take this country to war.)

I just received this e-mail from President Bush (well, it did come with his signature -- which wouldn't copy to this post):

Dear Debra,

Two years ago, more than 3,000 innocent people lost their lives when a calm September morning was shattered by terrorists driven by hatred and destruction.

On that day, and in its aftermath, we saw the greatness of America in the bravery of victims; in the heroism of first responders who laid down their lives to save others; in the compassion of people who stepped forward to help those they had never met; and in the generosity of millions of Americans who enriched our country with acts of service and kindness. Since that day, we have seen the greatness of America further demonstrated in the courage of our brave men and women in uniform who have served and sacrificed in Afghanistan, in Iraq, and around the world to advance freedom and prevent terrorist attacks on America.

As we remember September 11, 2001, we reaffirm the vows made in the earliest hours of our grief and anger. As liberty's home and defender, America will not tire, will not falter, and will not fail in fighting for the safety and security of the American people and a world free from terrorism. We will continue to bring our enemies to justice or bring justice to them. This Patriot Day, we hold steady to this task.

By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), the Congress has designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day."

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2003, as Patriot Day. I call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities, including remembrance services and candlelight vigils. I also call upon the Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as well as appropriate officials of all units of government, to direct that the flag be flown at half-staff on Patriot Day. In addition, I call upon all Americans to display the flag at half-staff from their homes on that day and to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. eastern daylight time to honor the innocent victims who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and twenty-eighth.

Outside of St. John's Church in Washington, DC, President Bush Made The Following Remarks

"Today our nation remembers -- we remember a sad and terrible day, September the 11th, 2001. We remember lives lost. We remember the heroic deeds. We remember the compassion and the decency of our fellow citizens on that terrible day.

"Also today is a day of prayer. We pray for the husbands and wives and moms and dads and sons and daughters and loved ones of those who still grieve and hurt. We pray for strength and wisdom. We thank God for the many blessings of this nation, and we ask His blessings on those who especially hurt today.

"Thank you."

Don't forget that shortly after 9/11 is when all the personal attacks started against him. During Operation Enduring Freedom we were told that Bush got us into a quagmire in Afghanistan and that he should have consulted the Russsians about the strength of the Afghan resistance.

It was Hillary Roundass Clinton who went to the Senate floor with the the newspaper headline that read "BUSH KNEW" demanding to know what President Bush knew and when did he know it.

It was shortly after that when the democrats started insinuating that the Bush Administration failed to connect the dots.

After that, it was Tom Daschle having his "pink tie rant" claiming GWB was politicizing the war over a bogus article by the Washington Post.

It's been the same from day one, The democrats have been consistantly undermining the efforts this President has made in this fight for our lives and freedom.

Actually, Savage (of all people)made your point over and over again tonight -- the Democrats have managed to convince a segment of our population that President Bush is the enemy NOT the terrorists! PATHETIC! [Savage was pro-Bush for a change -- how refreshing!]
