Mark Steyn's "We're Winning This War!!""The story of the summer is that the American people refused to be panicked by the media, the Democrats and the Europeans. Indeed, the awesome divide between the postmodern sophists and everybody else is the real legacy of 11 September. As the day itself recedes into the past, the splinter it opened up in the settled international order gets wider and wider to the point where 9/11 is a fault line through reality itself. Depending on which side you stand, success is failure, victory is disaster. The other day Caroline Hawley, the BBCs gal in Baghdad, declared, Saddam must be gloating in his hiding place over the irony that the United States, which toppled him in the name of fighting terror, has now had to concede that Iraq has become a battlefield in the war on terror a magnet for Muslim militants who want to wage war on America.
America has now had to concede? Wheres she been the last three months? As Bush himself said, apropos Saudi and Syrian terrorists minded to take a vacation in the Sunni Triangle, Bring em on. I mentioned some weeks back my compatriot David Warrens assertion that in Iraq Washington had carefully hung up its flypaper, an image that has since caught on and is rather more accurate than Miss Hawleys. But hers will do: would you rather Muslim militants attempted to blow up civilians in Boston and Dallas or instead tried to take on the worlds best-armed soldiers in Tikrit and Ramadi? Its not a tough call. And does Miss Hawley really think Saddam is gloating right now?"

I gotta admit that I originally thought the "Bring 'em on" crack by Dubyuh was an amateur-hour ad lib slip-up, but the more I think about it, it has turned out to be more than false bravado. America's incursion into Iraq has brought the theater of battle to the terrorists, and the more willing to come to Iraq and fall on their swords against the studs we've got over there, the better. As Steyn points out, it beats the heck outta fighting these suicidal cretins within the borders of the United States.

I gotta admit that I originally thought the "Bring 'em on" crack by Dubya was an amateur-hour ad lib slip-up, but the more I think about it, it has turned out to be more than false bravado. The "bring 'em on" tactic was central to the "Thunder Runs" through Baghdad to the international airport conducted by the Third Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, starting on April 5. These armor raids not only probed the Republican Guard strength within the city, but drew defenders out of their positions into killing zones, where our guys obliged them. The tactic was developed by the Army during the Korean War and was modeled on Panzer General Heinz Guderian's blitzkrieg in Poland and France. It's a risky tactic because the advancing column can be cut off and surrounded, but is designed to achieve surprise, fracture enemy lines and force fighting on our own terms when and where we have a comparative advantage in firepower and mobility. So let's "bring on" these fanatics to Iraq where we have the means to deal to defeat them. Dubya was right!

Ghost Writers in Disguise
Ghost Riders in the Sky: Words and Music by Stan Jones circa 1949
Parody by LonePalm
An old tired hack went writing out one dark and stormy night
Upon the web he rested as he cruised another site.
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed Dems he saw
A 'plowin' through their ragged lies and up a logic flaw.
Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost writers in disguise.
Their friends were still on fire and their whines began to peal.
Their scorn wuz black and swiny and their hot breath made you reel.
A bolt of fear went through him as they blundered through their lies
For he saw the writers comin' hard and he heard their mournful cries
Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost writers in disguise.
Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, and arm pits soaked with sweat
They're writin' hard to reach that herd but they ain't got them yet
They've got to write forever crap that no one else will buy
On PCs snortin' fire, as they write on, hear their cry
Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost writers in disguise.
As the writers moped on by him, he heard one call his name
"If you want to save your soul from hell a' writin' to your shame."
"Then writer change your ways today or with us you will write"
"A-tryin' to reach the Demo herd, Theyll never get it right."
Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost writers in disguise.
Ghost writers in disguise.
Rest In Peace Johnny Cash. Because youre fine, I wrote the line.
This one is for Johnny Cash and is a take off on my favorite Cash song. The video of this one will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

Great job, Reagan79...is it penned to a particular tune?!
The First time I saw you, you were in black at the Memphis fair
For all those people you touched,
there was excitement and anticipation in the air
You sang your new songs like "Meet me in heaven"
and how could I forget "I've been everywhere"
You're Johnny Cash, you even spent time in the Starkville City jail
Sometimes my brother and I would sit around and pick Folsom Prison Blues
And when I lost that pretty girl
You helped me put on my dancing shoes
But most of all your gospel songs comforted my soul
A constant reminder He washed all my sins away
Especially when you sang "The old account was settled long ago"
Your conversion story always reminded me of being on my knees
and I thank you on those days I felt alone,
I could always listen to "I walk the Line" and "One Piece at a Time"
Remember the times you brought the gospel alive singing,
"He turned the water into wine"
So for the songs you penned and sang
All the great ones about rebellion, forgiveness, heartbreak, and shame
I tip my hat to the man in black,
A man who didn't forget about the downtrodden and locked away
Whether you were in prison or Unchained.

"What's the Truth?!"
(To be sung to Johnny Cash's "What is Truth?")
Rush Limbaugh's talkin' on the Rad-ee-oh...
Sayin', "Where did our sense of Justice go?
Slick sure seems to be inventin' new ways...
Of keepin' the Truth from gettin' airplay!!"
Said, "They're crooks, you see, and their motives're Vile!!"
Still, the Medyuh says, "Bill's OUR Flower Child!!"
Country, can't you see thru these Lyin' Boys?
We gotta FIGHT to be heard o'er their LeftWing Noise!!
While the Lonely Voice of Youth cries..."What's the Truth?!"
My little boy of five, playin' in the yard,
Looks up and says, "Daddy, who's Ken Starr?" [yeah, it's an old song, circa 4/99...I'll fix it.]
"Son, he's trackin' bad men who Cheat and Lie!!"
Little man of five says, "Slick Ain't Right!!"
Young men of seventeen killin' kids at school,
As Courts outlaw the Golden Rule...
No prayer in school, teachers puttin' Faith down,
While Slick Willie jokes, "Let's pass a Joint aroun'!"
Can you blame the Voice of Youth fer askin' "What's the Truth?!"
EX-Prez'dent's sittin' on the Witness Stand,
The man with the Book says, "Raise yer hand...
Repeat after me, 'I solemnly swear...' "
Yet the Nation said, "We just don't care."
'Cuz although Clinton solemnly swore,
Nobody really trusted Slick no more.
Culture's got so sleazy that America's unaware...
That EX-Prez'dent sold China missiles that're aimed at Bel Air!!
Still the RightWing's called uncouth fer askin', "What's the Truth?!"
Young girl internin' with the White House Sleaze...
Doin' Bill's job while on her knees!!
FReepers protest in the Public Square,
While fightin' 'gainst this Lib'ral Nightmare!!
Yeah, these young'uns that yer callin' "WILD"...
Are gonna be yer Leaders in a little while!!
The Whole World's Wakin' to FReedom today,
And I solemnly swear that it'll be OUR way!!
We gotta help our Voiceless Youth find, "What is True?!"
'Cuz the future needs more Youth askin', "What's the Truth?!!"
A little Johnny Cash never hurt anyone...MUD

"I haven't a clue what this fellow is talking about." I believe he's simply saying that we've gotta confront the enemies of America and it's best that we confront them on their turf instead of involving innocents over here. Plus, we've got our best folks over in Iraq and if the suicidal anti-liberty zealots wanna congregate there to battle, then, "Bring 'em on!!"
