The "bring 'em on" tactic was central to the "Thunder Runs" through Baghdad to the international airport conducted by the Third Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, starting on April 5. These armor raids not only probed the Republican Guard strength within the city, but drew defenders out of their positions into killing zones, where our guys obliged them. The tactic was developed by the Army during the Korean War and was modeled on Panzer General Heinz Guderian's blitzkrieg in Poland and France. It's a risky tactic because the advancing column can be cut off and surrounded, but is designed to achieve surprise, fracture enemy lines and force fighting on our own terms when and where we have a comparative advantage in firepower and mobility. So let's "bring on" these fanatics to Iraq where we have the means to deal to defeat them. Dubya was right!
