Media has DNC talking points up already on the news at the top of the hour -- focus is the cost and how it will be hard for Congress to support the request for additional money -- only a passing word on the speech and why the need for the money.

"I wonder if Maddie will throw herself in front of a nuke to try to stop it like she did with the dude from N. Korea?"

I wish there was a film of her when she ran after Arafat upon his walking out on a Mid-East peace talk. She ordered the gates closed so he couldn't get out. I never saw anymore so intent on spending time with a terrorist.

To those who think that the President will be in trouble from Democrat and media attacks, I would urge them to consider the following.

Poll after poll shows that over half the American people like George Bush. It is not a common thing in politics. But president Bush connects with people. Everyone but the left likes him. I will readily admit the left hates hin. Yhe left is about 1/3 of the voters. The right and center are 2/3 of the voters. That two thirds likes George Bush.

With that said consider this.

When I say someone you don't like is a rotton dirty blank blank, you will tend to say "Right on!". When I say someone you DO LIKE and ADMIRE is a rotton dirty blank blank, what is your reaction?

The answer to that question will tell you why attacks on Dubya will fail.

MEGA FREEPER DITTOS!!!! Jimmaae is a wimp, a whining, self-serving almost blatantly treasonist wimp, globally undermining the US and any administration, whenever he can .... always attempting to call attention to his alleged diplomatic "skills" and seeking the spotlight. I put him in the same category as Klintoon and Jesse Jackson.

GREAT post! I see you have it on your homepage, too. Well done. You really need to write for a newspaper.

I thought President Bush's words, which you so carefully captured, needed repeating. They are words many of us on FR have been saying for months (perhaps Bush is a Freeper?):

"We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength; they are invited by the perception of weakness. And the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people is to engage the enemy where he lives and plans. We are fighting that enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan today so that we do not meet him again on our own streets, in our own cities."

A highlight was handing a very old man who is a carpenter some clean bottled water. The sparkle in his eyes said it all!!!! They are very eagerly accepting their freedom and very busy in rebuilding their country. They (The local Afghani's) are very happy at being FREE!!!!:-)

Over a bottle of water?? ... Wow, that just shows how this country takes things for granted.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and thank you for serving our country so proudly

God Bless you and God Bless our military

Thank you for your vivid, chilling portrayal of the scene where so much death occurred and your story of the old man.

Perhaps if we had a venue for these stories (of course without any reference to specific coordinates, etc.) it would go a long way in helping all of us to visualize what you - in our stead - are experiencing.

My daughter just said, "it shows what kind of a world we live in with the carping about this five month old war when WWII took four years."

Again, thank you and all of our military personnel for the outstanding job you're all doing.

I love the DVR. I have two...one in the living room and one in the bedroom. You can record two programs at the same time and watch a recorded . . . . Deleting a program you've recorded is just as easy. There's no trouble using it at all.

You need to get out more!!!

;)

Kissinger is giving the speech very high marks on FNC now.

Kissinger: "The US isn't going to cut and run. We will leave Iraq a better place than we found it and it will be an example to the rest of the region. We will do this with international support or alone if necessary".

Kissinger: The hope of the terrorists is to shake the confidence of the American people.

The Rats are doing a good job of that, with the media as a willing accomplice.

This strange disconnect has existed in all religions and cultures.

No it doesn't. Jews actions and Judaism don't seem particularly disconnected to me. Christianity has had a few blips ... but Islam? Islam is all blip and no screen.

Weren't Jimmy Carter and Jesse Jackson pretty much soul mates during his administration? Or at least shown on TV together several times? I don't know for sure I was just a young thang back then....

Yah, interesting, Bush has almost said, "while I care about the economy, the economy be damned---there won't BE an economy if we get 2-3 more 9/11s, and it AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN ON MY WATCH."

Oh you bet, and you can tell he is thinking this by all the actions he has taken since 911 to control our borders and make all these tremendous immigration reforms, to ensure security within our country. Thank God we no longer have hundreds of thousands of people entering our country illegally, and I feel much safer....

Given your record for being spot-on, what is your reaction to Fineman's report that Howard Dean will take on the President in a response speech? Yes, that will increase his stature relative to the other Dems, but is it a mistake in the long run? Personally, I think it's another one of those moments during which Karl Rove will have the VCR's recording. However, given your thesis that Dean will do what he must do to get the nomination and worry about the general when it comes, does it not make good tactical sense for him to do this?

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Kissinger: In 1995 and beyond, Clinton gave a speech before (missed who) and detailed the WMD that Saddam Hussein had that we were sure about. Everyone knew he had them.

...We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength - they are invited by the perception of weakness...

HOW many times did we see Clinton stand before the American people and say something wishy-washy when we were attacked? He'd wag his finger and say something like this "We will not allow this to go on, and I MEAN it!!" A**hole!!!!

There is going to be a lot more commentary on this speech tomorrow---which is great for Bush. Also, when he speaks at the UN later this month, I think he will hit it out of the park again.
