This is pathetic on Hannity and Colmes.

It is. These Dems sound absolutely hysterical.

Two weeks into the war they were chanting "Vietnam".

Now a few months into the reconstruction they are declaring it a failure..never mind it took 4 years to get Germany up and running after the war.

I predict that things will turn around in Iraq before the 2004 election and rob the Dems of their talking points.

And their attacks and constant criticisms with have provided the impetus and determination to make them eat their words.

Yah, interesting, Bush has almost said, "while I care about the economy, the economy be damned---there won't BE an economy if we get 2-3 more 9/11s, and it AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN ON MY WATCH."

If I read this right, he has signalled that this is his MAIN campaign reelection platform. Good for you, W!

So you think that throwing your vote away while this nation's men and women are putting their lives on the line is a laughing matter

No I do not. I'm laughing at your response. I know this may be a bit beyond you, but it is actually possible to go in and vote for a party different from the R, and still be voting my conscience that I voted for what I feel is the best track for this nation of states

If you haven't heard, there is still a war going on and soldiers are still getting killed.

Sadly yes there are. And keeping them there for an additional 10-12 years (latest PNAC estimates per Wolfowitz) isn't going to help the mortality rates. It also probably won't help the 'war on terror' very much

You're angry at Bush for not being conservative enough for you

No not really. I don't get angry about it anymore. I've taken more of a realist position that whoever is in office, they will do what it takes to get re-elected. Or is healthcare of the order to 800 billion dollars somehow a conservative move that slipped in when they changed the definition of 'conservative'?

It's too bad you can't put aside that anger long enough to cast your vote for the best person to continue this war on terror.

Well you know the best person to continue this war on terror is not going to be a Democrat, I'll give you that. To continue a neverending war? How can you honestly believe that somehow they're going to wipe out all terrorism? There's going to be someone that always hates this nation of states. What would be the best solution then? Well we could always stop them from getting in? No that would mean closing the borders and limiting immigration. And do we know President Bush's stance on that?

As I stated later, I agree. I think he was a good man at one time. However his post Presidential career does leave something to be desired

I thought you were outa here,,BTW noone called you evil. And the Pres was elected by millions of people all with unique ideas about why they voted for him,,,you really think there is one vision, one notion about what he "ought to do". I voted for him trusting in his decency, and now sorta trust him to lead. I assume he knows what he is doing and don't plan to sit around making every difference with him a deal breaker. I think grownups don't expect the pres to be their personal mirror.

Nora O'Donnell The president showed strength and steely resolve...but a shift in tone.. this speech was so different from the aircraft carrier speech.

I'm sorry .. but Nora O'Donnell is an idiot.

I know. I just don't get why Biden is saying "finally levelled with us".

I have listened to every speech this president has ever made and I didn't hear ONE thing different tonight than any other night in terms of our commitment.

Incorrect, in one sense. The Renaissance of Europe was, at the beginning, a rediscovery of the Near East, Greek and Roman worlds. In a sense, their accomplishments would not have been possible without their forebearers as well.

Like the Christians, the Muslims made great early advances. For a variety of reasons unconnected with their religion, the society was decimated by faction and quarrel.

I think if you were to examine the sciences you would see the great Arabic impact.

You see, a German isn't predisposed to anti-semitism. The Holocaust was the culmination of two thousands years of Christian anti-semitism. Yet, I don't believe that Christians are any more disposed to anti-semitism than Muslims are to terrorism.

I think you and I could have an interesting debate on this. Let's continue by e-mail, if you want. RW

P.S. I gather you are not for Howard Dean. :)

No, as I agree with neither. I agree with the Republican platform, it's just the candidates they have chosen of late seem to not follow that platform

This strange disconnect has existed in all religions and cultures. It's part of human nature. I suppose that is why we have any religion or government in the first place.

Another attack like 9/11 or bigger, heaven forbid, and there won't be a domestic program in the country worth discussing.

The terrorists have one thing right - they knew they couldn't take us on militarily but can only hurt us and hope to "take us down" financially.

How can you honestly believe that somehow they're going to wipe out all terrorism

That is what we thought about communism in the 1950s and 1960s during the Cold War. Look at where we are today.

Of course we will not defeat all terrorist groups in the world. That is impossible. But putting up a fight, for the sake of our morals and way of life, is worth it I believe.
