Saudi official's son tortured pregnant girl in UK

A pregnant teenager was tortured and kept captive in a luxury apartment by the son of a former top Saudi official, a court has heard.

English language student Sammy Shadukhi, 22, who has been jailed for five years, imprisoned the 17-year-old girl in his riverside home, whipped her regularly and subjected her to a string of so-called "punishments" over one month.

She told the two-week trial that her ordeal began almost from the moment he invited her into his waterfront apartment in Rotherhithe, south London, in January last year.

She recalled that sometimes he bound her hand and foot, dumped her in the bath and then, despite her obvious pregnancy, straddled her stomach to push her beneath the water. "Then he would start drowning me," she said.

At times, Shadukhi also forced the teenager's head into a bucket of hot water, telling her: "This is the last day of your life. You don't deserve to live. I have got to get rid of you."

Afterwards, he would throw her on to the bed and "start strangling me". The teenager also recalled being repeatedly forced to stand for up to ten hours at a time through the night.

"He never let me sleep the whole night ... he would never have pity on me."

Having threatened to "slaughter her like a sheep", the "terrified" teenager had no choice but escape - and almost killed herself in the process.

She clambered from a second-floor window and eased herself on to a drainpipe - then slipped and fell 60 feet to the foreshore of the River Thames, breaking her back, leg and ankle and knocked herself unconscious for several hours.

Inner London Crown Court was told that had the tide been in, she would undoubtedly have drowned. Her eventual cries for help were heard by Shadukhi's neighbours and she was airlifted to hospital.

The girl spent weeks recovering and fearful that her unborn child had been damaged by the fall, terminated her pregnancy at five months.

Sentencing Shadukhi, Judge Jonathan van der Werff told him: "You kept her under your control at all times and you subjected her to various sorts of torture ... tying her up with wire and Sellotape and keeping her like that for long periods.

"It was a terrible time for her, a period of her life she will never be able to forget ... she even had her pregnancy terminated."

He went on: "You made threats to kill ... holding a knife to her throat and causing an injury that was still visible a month later.

"You threatened to slaughter her like a sheep. She believed you. That was the main reason that she eventually tried to escape."

"I recommend that, when you have served your sentence, you be deported. It is quite evident that behaviour like yours, if repeated, will be grossly detrimental to the best interests of this country and the people living here."

The court heard that Shadukhi's unnamed "affluent" father had recently retired from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of the Interior.

Shadukhi was convicted of sample counts of false imprisonment, making threats to kill and causing actual bodily harm.

He was found not guilty of rape and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and formally cleared by the judge of unlawful wounding and a second actual bodily harm charge after the jury failed to reach verdicts.

Kidnapping, Assault and torture ... he could see a few weeks in jail. However, if he had hurt the girl while she was robbing him; then he'd be in real trouble.

He SHOULD be CASTRATED and then SHOT. His wealthy relatives will buy his freedom, bring him home to Saudi and protect him while he tortures other women. Of course in Saudi that's legal.

Attention!!!!!
Notice to all gold diggers and foolish romantic infidels...

Regard all men from Saudi Arabia as cockroaches...
Rich cockroaches, but cockroaches nonetheless...
Until PROVEN otherwise --- conduct yourself accordingly.

Approach them at your own risk...

This is normal behavior for Saudi Arabian men in Saudi Arabia.

And I thought that the British were keen on embracing Multi-Culturalism.

Mr Shadukhi's statement in his defense: "why all this fuss over a 17 year old infidel?"

And what would Saddam do if his own daughter was treated in similar manner?

This sort of behavior needs to get daddy blacklisted from entering any civilized country. This kid was not supporting himself while he engaged in these activities -- daddy paid for the whole thing. Perhaps these jetsetting parents would pay a little more attention to the activities of their rotten little dependents, if it would infringe on their own recreational activities.

Should've been 10 years, agreed, but I'm sure some very heavy duty strings were pulled, especially in the CITY, the FO and Number 10.

And I doubt he serves his term in England. He'll get shipped out to Saudi where he'll serve under some form of "house" arrest.

She killed her kid because her child "might" have been damaged.

No nice people in this story.

...And encouraged...And expected. That's the horrible part of this -- the Saudis probably can't understand why this is illegal. They treat animals better than women. It also explains a bit why terrorism is rampant among Middle Easterners -- no regard for human life (except for male Arabs).

The NOW Gang and similar groups should absolutely shut up about the state of women in this country: they should start campaigning in places where they can really make a difference.

What, you doubt the cooperation of our friends and allies.

Hm, don't you trust the administration is levelling with us about the Saudis. Shame on you, DU troll, what's your agenda.

Outrageous. We should all pray that we, or our loved ones, are never the victim of a crime in England, if this is a sample of English justice.

Wonder what the compostion of the jury was?

Did sympathisers thwart others who may have been inclined to a stiffer sentence?
