Awaiting legitimate confirmation.... Don't hold your breath. Debka said this was an anti-air missile - but those are big, long-range suckers usually launched from platforms or trucks - something highly unlikely given the security around Rumsfeld's visit.

642 Debka-related informational posts on FR since June 1998.
Of the claims made, turned out roughly 12 % were substantiated or proven to be correct. Remainder: Bogus. Rates with the National Inquirer for accuracy. :-)

If they make another Men In Black, I understand that they will be using Debka as a source in addition to the tabloids.
Seriously, their accuracy is probably about right when compared to the validity of information circulating in intelligence agencies. Intelligence by nature is dicey.

Is an RPG much smaller in size?An RPG only has a range of a couple hundred yards or so - it could conceivably be used against a helicopter hovering near the ground. A shoulder-held SAM is conceivable, but less likely on approach, and you know there would be quite a few countermeasures in place with Rummy coming to town. And I can't see how anyone would be able to get an anti-air missile into launching position without being noticed and pulverized.

Sorry, but they've been caught flat-out lying many times, and some of their claims simply defy logic, tactics and/or geography. They are nowhere in the same league with intelligence agencies.

Wow. What is your source for such exact figures? If true, this definitely changes my own view of Debka.

I was under the impression that Baghdad airport was not even being used simply because of such possibilities. Any one know? I mean REALLY know.
