When advantageous, political coalitions and alliances with non-Chicano groups may be considered. A
careful analysis must precede the decision to enter into a coalition. One significant factor is the community's
attitude toward coalitions. Another factor is the formulation of a mechanism for the distribution of power that
ensures maximum participation in decision making: i.e., formulation of demands and planning of tactics. When no

Ah, logic.
How is it possible, exactly, to sever ties with a group that doesn't exist? Oh, I get it! He's talking about *other* Mexican groups without mentioning any names!
It's heartening to see, however, that "most MECHAS" have severed ties to "any group with sexist, anti-Semitic or homophobic agendas," isn't it? Interestingly, the author himself admits that at least part of MECHA is not only racist, but sexist and homophobic!
This will, no doubt, cause the egalitarian fanatics on the left to yawn. They love the dirtbag proles too much to expect anything from them.
In my youth we called it the Fourth Estate. Did one get inserted when I wasn't looking?

"MEChA emphasizes the fact that our current disadvantaged, economic and political, situation is primarily due to us losing the Mexican-American War that ended in 1848 with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo and the subsequent confiscation of our vast land by the English speaking invaders. This knowledge awakens our student's minds to the true reality of our situation which than provides the necessary impetus to struggle harder and become better people. Our students than realize the great value of what was taken from us . . . not only our land but our language and our culture as well.

Yeah, they're just a harmless, much-maligned student group, much like the Young Republicans. They don't sound a bit like they aspire to be MexiPali terrorists. MexiCaliNaziBoy is REALLY just n honest politician trying to do what's best for California. And Casto is a great guy. And Arnold is a Nazi, NOT harmless MeChA. And Hamas is a group of freedom fighters.
There are great similarities between the political and economic condition of the Palestinians in occupied Palestine and that of La Raza in the southwest United States. Fortunately, the struggle for equality by La Raza has not reached the level of violence that is now being experienced in the Holy Land and hopefully it never will. Some ominous signs, however, are manifesting themselves in Los Angeles County that may be a harbinger of things to come. Widespread areas in southern California have recently experienced ambushes, shootings and assassinations of police officers by young disaffected Raza youths who are routinely harassed by special police units like the now disbanded CRASH units of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The similarities are many. The primary one of course is the fact that both La Raza and the Palestinians have been displaced by invaders that have utilized military means to conquer and occupy our territories. The takeover of our respective lands by foreign elements occurred 100 years apart. For La Raza it happened in 1848 when Mexico lost the southwest at the end of the Mexican American War and the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidlago. For the Palestinians it occurred in 1948 when the Zionist Jewish People's Council gathered at the Tel Aviv Museum and signed the "Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel" on the day in which the British Mandate over a Palestine expired. The effects of the occupation policies over time , 153 years for La Raza de Aztlan and 53 years for the Palestinians, have been eerily similar.
