Hillary: She's Now Open to 2004 Prez Bid

New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has subtly but carefully altered her stance on running for president in 2004.

Senator Clinton has made some revealing statements while on her book tour in Europe that indicate she is moving to a 2004 run.

During her trip to London this weekend, Mrs. Clinton hinted during a television interview that a 2004 run "might happen."

Appearing Friday on BBC Channel 4's "Richard and Judy Show," Mrs. Clinton was pressed on whether she might challenge President Bush as early as next year.

"You never know what might happen," she told the TV duo, after first dismissing as "rumors" reports that she was considering a run in 2004.

The day before, Mrs. Clinton was challenged by BCC radio interviewer Martha Kearney, who complained that the top Democrat's often-repeated answer that she has "no intention" of running for president in either 2004 or 2008 "doesn't really rule anything out, does it?"

"Well, but it is as close as I can come," Mrs. Clinton responded.

In previous interviews with American reporters, the former first lady had been unequivocal about not running in 2004. "Absolutely, I'd say no," she told ABC's Barbara Walters, who asked last month if she'd accept a draft.

Pressed on her plans for 2008, Mrs. Clinton dispensed with her usual "no intention" denial altogether, telling Kearney, "Well, 2008 is a long - you know, you cover politics - that's an eternity in American politics. But I think that the role I'm playing, trying to bring attention to issues, trying to get people to focus on what's at stake, is a very appropriate role for me."

Just three weeks ago, when asked by ABC's Barbara Walters if she might run in 2004, Mrs. Clinton's denial was rock solid.

But sinking poll numbers for President Bush, continuing weakness in the U.S. economy, and the failure of a clear Democratic front-runner to emerge -- all may be factors leading Mrs. Clinton to re-think her plans for 2004.

contributing to Dean will only help Hillary as it's money to the left. If Hillary wants the nomination it's hers. Dean might be the "beat Bush up" candidate and then he becomes Attorney General so he can rid us of Ashcroft.

Hillary has been behind the sinking polls of President Bush with the help of her friendly media propaganda machine for the very purpose of running for President. I have said this all along.

These and similar questions will never be answered. Why? Because the liberal media will never ask her. Her questions will be softball...and Bush's will be the fastest, hardest ever.

But in a country where Ann Coulter sells as much books as Hillary and where Ann is considerably to the right of Bush, I like Bush's chances

Still, don't underestimate Hillary.

The women voters will split on voting for a woman and voting for a leader.

Any woman who values the life of her family wants Bush at the helm at least until this terrorist threat is over. It's going to take at least 5 more years of constant danger before anyone in this country can even THINK about someone other than Bush.

She is the best candidate for the democrats because if she
wins, they control WH and SCOTUS nominations plus bully
pulpit. If she loses ,which is highly likely, then the party
can purge itself of the Clinton influence and leadership
which is the Republican party's best voter scare/ funraiser
tool.

You are right, don't mis-underestimate. Still it would be disasterous for our country. Eight years of Hillary and we could be headed for martial law, the country would be so polarized.

Think they will do something like a Dean/Clinton, Kerry/Clinton, etc ticket?

I don't think dhe will run for vise Pres. I am just guessing. The Dems just don't have anyone worth running IMO. I HC will be at the top of the ticket.

I don't worry about Florida since 2002, but SD, IA, WI, MI, PA, WV, CA, NM, LA, CO. The time is ripe for another massive wave of Dem voter fraud.

Doesn't this scare anyone here? I am confused that FReepers would feel like this is something to celebrate. Would someone please explain this to me? Hillary and her cartel are capable of everything, including stealing, lying, killing, bribing her way into the ultimate power of POTUS.

Please help me understand this. For the first time tonight, I imagined, for real, the thought of a President Hillary, and real terror ran through me. I would rather be celebratory like many of you, so please, what am I missing?

She will run.

It won't matter what she does. No chance to win in 2004 or later.
