Should Schwarzenegger quit?

Not really. Nor do we think Republicans Tom McClintock and Peter Ueberroth should get out of the race. At least not yet.

Well, maybe Mr. Ueberroth should. His blandness and lack of energy will not do.

The Democrats already have their Gray candidate. What's more, Mr. Ueberroth doesn't seem to be much more specific than Arnold Schwarzenegger, the frontrunner among Republicans currently in the race. But, then again, Mr. Ueberroth's nonpartisan pitch overrides his token Republicanism. For example, he's the only Republican in the race to oppose Proposition 187, the 1994 initiative barring state benefits to illegal aliens. Does this country-club Republican think he'll get Latino voters away from Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante? Indeed, in this crazy election, Mr. Ueberroth could end up with more Democrats and independent voters than Republicans.

I've seen that article.

But you said: Perusing McClintocks donor roll, one would see a bunch of Indian Tribes that are also backing Bustamante for some strange reason.

I looked at the donor rolls on the Sec. of State's site and could not find any tribal donations.

And an Arnold win would also give lucky you a chance to experience "Arnold-shokku" once he shows his true spots

A vote for Arnold is an unprincipaled vote. He has no
familiarity with California politics, he sounds like
a RINO and he is a hypocrite. He made his fortune doing
violent movies featuring massive fire power and yet he is against the Second Amendment. The person that can help
the state is McClintock. If Bustamente wins, then let
Californians "reap the whirlwind".

Guess your too busy procuring your special interest tribal gaming contributions to notice that the word "is" wasn't used.

Amazing...how can McClintock supporters find any problem with your stance??? It makes no sense that they would take issue with your position.

It's like they want to turn you off, or turn you away...not increase the number in their fold.

Amazing. With their strategy and tactics one would think that the person with the fewest votes won, not the most.

Read the article. Even McClintock's people say the Indians will be supporting them.

The Sac Bee's Dan Weintraub has a good blog-entry on this issue. He thinks Arnold is sincere but very much subject to legitimate criticism:
Arnold's campaign money

Here is the Bee’s story on the flap over Arnold’s definition of “special interest.” I have a feeling that Arnold, in his own mind, is being sincere here, but if so, he is revealing an incredibly tin ear. To him, it’s ridiculous to suggest that he would ever “sell out” to a corporate interest or individual who contributes to his campaign. He doesn’t need the money, and he’s not “promising anything” in return for the checks. He is not personally asking for it, the way most politicians, and especially Gray Davis, are known to do.

What he apparently doesn’t see is that to the outside world, when you say you’re not going to take special interest money and then you do, you look like a hypocrite or a liar. And when you define “special interest” as the other guy’s donors, you just look silly.

It’s probably too late to fix this. He’s already collected hundreds of thousands of dollars and I doubt he is going to give it back. And some casual voters might even buy his explanation. But I think it’s going to be fodder for one of those famous ads….”Schwarzenegger said he wouldn’t take special interest money…..Then he took $100,000 from Big Bad Inc….If we can’t trust Arnold on the campaign trail, how can we trust him in the governor’s office?” You get my drift.

I'm not sure. That may partly be right, but I went to college with a guy who was Israeli/US dual citizen'd -- US because his parents were both US citizens and Israeli because he was Jewish, born IN Israel while his folks were overseas ... I'm not sure how it all works.

I coming more and more to feel that its just not stupidity, but a concentrated effort to divide.

Devil's advocates usually profess that which they want to destroy. Figure it out.

Posing? Ahnold is posing as a conservative when in fact he is a liberal to the core. Get real! If I could vote again in CA, it would be for McC--no one else! Can McC win? Lots of Freepers and the libpress say no, but he had a lot of votes last election and came close to beating Dumbhead Davis. Why are so many pessimistic about McC?

I do not belive a conservative can win a statewide office in CA

So then you think a moderate CAN win? Because you would be surprised to know that we have nominated whole bunches of em to various statewide offices in recent years, and the funny thing is that they have lost far worse than the conservatives.

In fact the closest race we've had in recent years was McClintock and he only lost by a fraction of a percent.

I would vote for Cruz before Arnold, because at least Cruz doesn't put an (R) in front of him, and the Dems will get all the blame when things get worse. And things will get worse if Cruz or Arnold wins. Only Tom has the core values and intelligence to keep this from being a total disaster for the Republican party. But if the Republican party wants to commit suicide, go for it. But don't expect me to help them terminate themselves.

Now that you've detailed Schwarzenegger's position on illegals can you do the same for Bustamante? Does he favor them, driver licenses, etc? I'd think so but don't know for sure... If Schwarzenegger fails then McClintock better win because if he doesn't then my guess is it's Bustamante and you still get the illegals plus all the other things Bustamante would support...

Do you have any predictions on turnout? This thing although in an off year type situation maybe huge and generate a lot of voter interest... My guess is you can throw patterns out the window in this election because of it's nature; Jungle primary type without a runoff.

Because he's expressing a willingness to vote for a lying RINO who will open the floodgates to higher taxes and illegal immigration.

Okay, a serios answer; because I listen to people. I listen to the youth. I listen to liberal work associates. I take my own sutle polls. McC leaves 'em cold. He is (undeservedly) ridiculed. The libs I work with fear the heck outta AS. Succinct enough?
