Link to report by Sara Foster, World Net Daily, with anti-euthanasia author and attorney Wesley Smith.

Smith pulls no punches in stating his opinions.

What connections does Judge Greer have to the Hospice where he has sent Terri?
It seems that the sister of one of Greer's fellow judges sits on the board of that Hospice, which may have some ethical lapses of its own (diverting non-profit funds to for-profit division)

From: Board members of Hospice of the Florida $uncoast,

Martha Lenderman (Chair)

(Sister of Judge John Lenderman ... bench buddy to Judge Greer in the Terri Schiavo case who always rules in favor of the hospice efforts to end Terri Schiavo's life)

Why is it that the C.E.O. of the hospice, LABYAK, DENIES Ever Giving Charitable Donations to For-Profit one moment, and then admits to it the next day? The article reports: "Hospice donations diverted, suit says" C.E.O. LABYAK ADMITS diverting Medicaid money into the For-Profit Subsidiary! Yet, Labyak denies that even that is wrong! [2/25/2003].

RC,

I inadvertently posted the below information/ commentary at this morning at 5:12 AM. Plese excuse my oversight, as I had actually intended it for this thread.

The next set of power brokers that are politically responsive only when boxed into a corner are the Roman Catholic Bishops of Florida.

It is their individual and collective responsibility to oppose the fundamental concepts woven into the developing governmental support and encouragement of euthanasia.

Ironically, they've gathered to chant for the lifting of a death sentence imposed upon a murderer condemned to die by a Florida court.

Compare the weak and evasive comments given thus far about Terri's fight for life, with their vigorous demand that Governor Bush act to spare a convicted killer Paul Hill.

If only Terri had committed a felonious crime instead of perhaps being the victim of the same, these pious pretenders would be chained to her bed protesting Greer's inhuman death decree.

Urge your circle of contacts, and their circle of contacts to focus every ounce of their considerable clout in the direction of these identity-challenged potentates. Urge them to speak against government's intent to use Terri as a foundation for the institutionalizing of euthanasia as public policy.

Government argues the aged and infirmed ( not illegal aliens ) are a burden. Government tells us we need to rid ourselves of the responsibility for providing care for those who rose to defend America in its time of need.

Government is asking that we give it the ultimate control over every American Citizen ( less the millions of illegal aliens leaching from us on a daily basis ). Government wants us to close our eyes to the very real fact that Terri, and all like her are creations of God.

We stood by and permitted government to presume His Will once already, when we ceded our authority to a public policy ending life in the womb.

Now we are witnessing a compounding of this grievous error, with a further attempt by government to arbitrarily assume control over who will be permitted to live beyond the womb, and when they will have God Almighty's gift of life stolen from them by the pen of men in black robes .

Demand they join with Governor Jeb Bush. Tell them they're obliged to renounce the slow death by starvation decreed by a goose-stepping Hitlerite pig ( you might be the wiser to chose the term 'judge' ).

Below is a letter I strongly urge you to urge your contacts to copy and email to John Paul II, as written by Thomas A. Droleskey, a journalist with the Seattle Catholic

----------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Holy Father,

You have raised your office in the past twenty-five years against the horror of abortion. You have spoken out against other crimes against innocent human life. You have made it a point to intervene directly in the cases of convicted criminals who have been sentenced to death after due process of law, pleading with governors and presidents to commute death sentences in individual cases, including that of the now executed Timothy McVeigh in 2001. However, Your Holiness has not once intervened in the case of a person being starved and dehydrated to death by a family member.

Although you spoke in general terms about the immorality of the withdrawal of food and water prior to Hugh Finn's murder in 1998, you did not plead with the then Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, James Gilmore, to intervene to save his life. You never mentioned the name of Hugh Finn, as you have mentioned the names of men and women who have been convicted of heinous crimes.

Please, Your Holiness, intervene in the case of Terri Schiavo. Be concerned only about the fact that Terri Schiavo's only 'crime' has been her inability to speak in her own behalf. She has parents and family members and friends who love her; devoted to providing her with the care she may need if only they are allowed by the court to give her that loving care.

Terri Schiavo needs the help of her spiritual father on earth in her time of need. I plead with Your Holiness to extend your protective hand to her.

/s/

This judge is a dork. On a better planet, they'd be attempting to indict Mr. Schiavo for attempted murder by court order or some such...

Isn't it pretty amazing that she has lived as long as she has? I mean 13 years is a long time under those conditions.

I watched the videos on the site, and it makes me sick with disgust that anyone would even consider starvation for this woman.

BTTT for this woman's life!

If Greer does issue this order, I don't understand how that would not be considered some sort of homicide?!?! This woman is perfectly capable of living her life, and is responsive to others, yet he wants to issue an order to remove the tube & kill her (no other word for it, really)?

I wish the parents could have the husband (whom I'm guessing put her into this state) removed as legal guardian, and somehow file on behalf of their daughter for divorce from this guy.

I am actually speechless at this whole situation.....

This is a repeat of a question I asked on a different thread, but I'm suffering from freeping impatience waiting for an answer, so excuse the repost:

I've been lurking on these threads, and I keep feeling conflicted.

The doctor who said it looked like foul play said her scan indicated strangulation. However, in that case she'd have had some pretty obvious neck trauma, right?

Maybe the nurses could help me out - could someone be strangled, strangled until there was massive damage, and not have obvious neck trauma (black and blues, swelling, etc.)???

God finds a way to bring some good out of this situation, as painful as it is. Because of Terri's story a lot of people are becoming aware and informed of the legal issues at stake and that's a good thing.

Large sums of money do have a way of bringing out the worst in some people, making them become heartless. I think the laws need to be changed in this country. As it presently stands, it's pretty easy for a guardian to gut the estate of someone in Terri's situation. There was a case in California where a son murdered his parents and thereby became guardian of his ailing grandmother. Within a year or two he gutted her $300,000 estate, buying himself lots of goodies. Later he was caught and convicted for murder but his actions as guardian were technically legal.

It's not just this judge who favors the guardian. It tends to be the case everywhere. Once a person gets appointed guardian they have tremendous latitude. A person can even make a living as a professional guardian, paid by the system to act as guardian for people with no relatives. I'm sure many guardians are ethical and conscientious but the system as it presently stands is ripe for abuse.

Theoretically when the money runs out the husband would have to start paying his lawyer out of his own pocket and apparently this is a very expensive lawyer. The husband might have to start paying for Terri's hospice and hospital care, as well.

Judge delays ruling on pulling brain-damaged woman's feeding tube

By MITCH STACY
Associated Press Writer

CLEARWATER, Fla. --
A judge on Thursday postponed issuing an order removing a feeding tube keeping a brain-damaged woman alive after her parents argued that she first should be given the chance to learn to eat.

Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George W. Greer now says he will rule sometime next week on claims by Terri Schiavo's parents that she has a legal right to therapy that could help her take food by mouth after the feeding tube is withdrawn.

"We dodged the bullet again - for another week," said her father, Bob Schindler.

Schindler and his wife, Mary, have been battling their daughter's husband, Michael Schiavo, in court for years as he has sought permission to remove the feeding tube so she can die. Terri Schiavo has been in what doctors call a "persistent vegetative state" since a 1990 heart attack.

Doctors have said she would live 10 to 14 days after the feeding tube is removed.

Greer and Florida's appellate courts have consistently sided with Michael Schiavo, who contends his wife had said she would not want to be kept alive artificially.

The Schindlers, however, believe their daughter tries to communicate with them and could recover with therapy, despite court-appointed doctors saying her condition is irreversible.

During the Thursday hearing, the Schindlers' attorney, Pat Anderson, introduced affidavits from two speech pathologists who said they believe that with therapy Terri Schiavo might be taught to swallow and communicate. They came to those conclusions after reviewing video and audio tapes of Terri Schiavo made last year.

Anderson also questioned whether Terri Schiavo would have chosen to not receive therapy that could improve her condition or help her eat.

"It has been scandalous what has happened in this guardianship," Anderson told Greer. "She has been treated as if she's already dead and never had the chance to get better."

But Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, noted that court-appointed doctors previously determined Terri has no cognitive function, so she can't communicate. And, he said, part of any food and water taken by mouth would go into her lungs, causing pneumonia and other problems.

Felos accused Anderson of rehashing matters that have already been litigated to force delays in the case.

"This is a frivolous action, your honor, to delay the implementation of this court's order and the mandate," he said.

Terri Schiavo was 26 in 1990 when she suddenly collapsed in her home after her heart stopped from what doctors believe was a potassium imbalance. She now lives in a Pinellas County hospice and has been in poor health lately.

Michael Schiavo first filed a petition to have the feeding tube removed in 1998, and the Schindlers have been battling him in court ever since.

In recent days, attorneys for the Schindlers have unsuccessfully tried to get Greer kicked off the case and have asked Pinellas State Attorney Bernie McCabe to investigate claims that Michael Schiavo had mistreated his wife since she has lived in a nursing home and hospice.

Felos called those claims "the most rank and despicable form of propaganda."

Michael Schiavo did not attend the hearing. Felos said he had work and other commitments.

The Schindlers have claimed that Michael Schiavo stands to benefit financially if his wife dies. In 1992 he won a malpractice award of more than $1 million against doctors who misdiagnosed Terri, more than $700,000 of which was set aside for her care.

But Felos said the money for her care is nearly gone. He said Michael Schiavo, who has fathered a child with a woman to whom he is engaged, has continued to fight the Schindlers only because he wants to see his wife's wishes carried out.

Hello Ragtime - sorry to say I've not read ANY info, like I usually try to do, before I talk.

I'm just very dismayed this is now apparently left up to polls via the internet for life or death, apparently. I've not read of this case before now and it sounds pathetic that it's a poll 'vote.'

God help us all. We live in very strange times.

PS, personally, I don't believe in polls via the internet; way too much tainting available. But, then again, I don't believe in any kind of random poll.

Let's all pray this woman gets her to where her Maker wants her to be.
