Freepers with knowledge of Terri's case, please add helpful tips for callers phoning in a complaint against Judge Greer - info on past decisions, known affiliations / opinions that could interfere with a life - death decision.

Please ping your ping lists, Florida Freepers.

Would appreciate help bumping this thread today.

Thank you!

I would also complain the way the judge came back the very next day and said Jeb Bush's request would not be honored. Would be put in the file same as everything else.

He didn't even consider it. He disrespected the people of Florida when he did this. He might as well be in cahoots with the ghoulish husband.

The Honorable(?) George W. Greer:

I just called the number to complain about Judge George Greer, and the woman at the judicial commission refused to take down my name and the nature of my complaint. She did not even ask if I were a FL resident, which I am not. She said that the commission has no authority to act in regard to a decision by a judge. The commission acts, she said, only if there is personal misbehavior by the judge. I asked if "bias" constituted "personal misbehavior," and she said that was an opinion outside the jurisdiction of the commission. The fact that I got through immediately led me to belive that not many calls have come to the commission office.

Once again, bureaucracy is there mainly for bureaucrats. But citizens mistakenly think bureaucrats are looking after the "little guys." The woman did say that the issue has generated a lot of "strong feelings" on both sides.

The call made no difference at all. It did not cost me anything to make the call, as I have a cell phone plan.

Poor Terri, this woman was born to trouble from the day she married that miserable wretch of a husband.

"I read [Gov. Bush's letter] because it came from the governor and I respect his position," Greer told the Tampa Tribune. "Beyond that, it is going in the file."

Who the hell does this guy think he is?

Thank you all for posting the updates on Terri's case. At the moment I'm so mad I don't trust myself to shoot off emails or call anyone.

A question for anyone who may know:

I have read these threads and it appears one side claims Terri is only "brain damaged" and she is alert and responding. There is also a claim that her parents believe she was the victim of an attempted murder by her husband. If this is the case(and I don't know that it is), has she, or why hasn't she, communicated in some way that he had tried to kill her?

I can't say I understand her mental and physical state, and I'm not sure anyone here really does either, so I am wondering if she has, or why she can't, communicate that to someone.

A potential tragedy is unfolding in Florida at this very moment that has the potential of becoming another major advance for the culture of death. A young disabled woman is in danger of being starved to death at the request of her husband, who already is living with another woman. Here's where to see what is about to happen without your help:
http://www.catholicpetitions.com/petitions.php?id=226

Please read about Terri Schiavo's dire situation and then sign a petition asking Gov. Jeb Bush and Florida's Attorney General Charlie Crist to intervene in her case and stop the court-ordered execution sought by her husband, who stands to gain financially from her death.

Urge a full investigation into how Terri suffered brain damage as well as how she yet could recover from it.

Support for Terri at CatholicPetitions.com already made a difference with Gov. Bush, who cited the many emails he has received as why he asked Judge George Greer to appoint a guardian and take no action in regard to her life. Unfortunately, the judge rejected Gov. Bush's appeal Wednesday. Terri's final hearing -- to decide whether she is starved to death or allowed to live and likely recover --was set for Sept 11 in an apparent effort to obscure her expected death sentence on newscasts and front pages dominated by remembrances of the terrorist tragedy.

While Terri's lawyers still seek ways to stop the ominous precedent-setting court-ordered execution, her plight goes virtually unnoticed across America. Your help is needed not only to pray for her protection and sign the petition for guard her life but to make the public aware of this tragic miscarriage of justice. Here's where to act:
http://www.catholicpetitions.com/petitions.php?id=226

Terri suffered a collapse in 1990 that deprived her of oxygen for several minutes, causing the brain damage. She receives nutrition and hydration by a feeding tube, but is allowed no other life-support measures by her husband. A Florida court recently ruled he may remove her feeding tube despite medical evidence that (1) Terri is able to communicate and respond to commands, and (2) foul play may have been involved in her collapse.

What's more, 13 physicians say Terri can recover with proper therapy!

Husband Michael, however, has denied her this therapy. He even has not allowed her the comfort of a visit by her Catholic priest, thus denying Terri the sacrament.

Don't allow Terri Schiavo to be executed under these circumstances! Stand up for the helpless and demand action! Help make the outcry to Gov. Bush and Attorney General Crist loud enough to mandate action on Terri's behalf. Act now while there's still time! Here's where to make your voice heard:

Larry Cirignano, Esq.
http://www.CatholicVote.Org

P.S. This isn't just a Florida issue endangering one woman. Americans must realize if such convenient killing is allowed, one day soon they, too, might be helpless in need of someone to fight for their lives.

Please alert everyone you know -- for their sake as well as Terri's.

Tell them to make their stand at:

In the State of Florida, USA, the politicians and Judges revere a turtle egg  more than a human being created in God's image and likeness.  Florida Law Chapter 370, US Fish and Wildlife Service.  Terri doesn't stand a chance in FL. May the Lord help her and her family.

Mess with a turtle egg and get a yr. in jail and a $50K fine, abort a child, get paid $750.00, I think the judges and the US congress should address this issue. And we wonder why there is NO respect for HUMAN life created in God's image.  Humans should be protected under the guarantees of the 5th and 14th amendments to the US Constitution.  OK, every in the pool and flap your fins and keep your offspring buried in the sand; we're turtles now.

DEFINITIONS

SEC. 3. For the purposes of this Act-

(8) The term ‘‘fish or wildlife’’ means any member of the animal kingdom, including without limitation any mammal, fish, bird (including any migratory, nonmigratory, or endangered bird for which protection is also afforded by treaty or other international agreement), amphibian, reptile, mollusk, crustacean, arthropod or other invertebrate, and includes any part, product, egg, or offspring thereof, or the dead body or parts thereof.

But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for EVERY careless word they have spoken."--Jesus (Matt. 12:36)

Health insurance companies will love Judge Greer's ***brand-spanking new*** definition of "vegetative state." He has added the requirement that a patient prove over and over that she is not vegetative.

Think of all the disabled people who can be taken off of life-support. What a savings to the insurance companies!!! They must think Greer is wonderful!!

As others have pointed out, Not Dead Yet has shown concern for Terri's plight and has filed a brief.
BRIEF OF AMICI CURIAE NOT DEAD YET ET AL. IN SUPPORT OF APPELLANTS AND REQUESTING REVERSAL

On Appeal from the Final Judgment Entered in the Sixth Judicial Circuit The Honorable George W. Greer, Presiding Judge [excerpt]
The issue for the trial court was therefore not that Ms. Schiavo lacked any voluntary action. Rather, the court believed Ms. Schiavo had not demonstrated sufficient actions to prove "cognitive function" because her actions were not "consistent" or "reproducible." This is simply not the definition the Florida Legislature and the U.S. Supreme Court have ascribed to "persistent vegetative state." "Voluntary action ... of any kind" does not require the person repeat the same action "consistently." The trial court committed a clear error of law by adding this new requirement.

There is an inherent danger in imposing such subjective criteria to this important threshold determination. The trial court's new requirement of "consistent" and "reproducible" action begs the question how much "action" Ms. Schiavo would have to exhibit to prove she is not in a persistent vegetative state (and concomitantly not cede her right to maintain life support). Would three voluntary "actions" be enough? Would ten? Moreover, how would courts determine whether such actions are "consistent"? How much variance, if any, would be allowed?

It is glaringly obvious that her "husband" wants her dead as quickly as possible.

And it is also pretty apparant to me that his reasons for wanting her dead have nothing to do with her "right to privacy" etc.

He is obviously afraid she is going to recover and if (God willing) she does, she is going to have a lot to say about this guy.

My first time posting here so please be patient. Have been a lurker for many years. Do a google search for Legal Status of Assisted Suicide/Euthanasia in the United States. You will find euthanasia is prohibited in Florida under the general homicide laws. Don't know if it would help to research it further Also, if anything does happen to Terri is there a way to follow the money trail? Monies paid to Greer, Hospice,etc.. Someone is getting paid off big time if Michael was actually awarded $9 million. Wanted to try and help Terri in some way..so I registered today just to help keep this thread bumped. Fran

We will call Monday as we have a long trip to evaluate King Vanity for a new wheelchair seating system tommarrow.

Teri is in our prayer without a doubt daily.

Hope she can get medical care for the other issues popping up.

If she gets a new chair I would like to suggest a quickie tilt in space. The vendors here are pushing Solaris brand wheelchairs and they are crap.

We have used quickie for decades and tried a few other brands only to send them back.

My son requires his teeth to be cleaned yearly and he is tube fed. Her husband is an idiot.

I WILL do it! Thank you for the phone #, and I'm still looking for a link between Greer, Bushnell, and the Hospice. They are too dirty to begin with, and all decisions have been made in the Hospice/Husband's favor. There is much more to this decision than just Terri, and I feel like the business potential for "processing" people like Terri would be a potential goldmine.

Hubby's attorney, George Felos, was once the Chairman of the Board for Terri's Hospice, and that taints everything any of the Hospice medical workers say about Terri. If Hospice had Felos (hubby's attorney) on their payroll, who else is on it? Why is Greer so admant that Terri must die?
