Freepers call to action re. Terri Schindler-Schiavo. Make a complaint against Judge Greer:
Various ^ | August 28, 2003

Posted on 08/28/2003 5:20:42 AM PDT by Ragtime Cowgirl

Freepers, we may be able to help Terri:

I made some phone calls today and have the ULTIMATE PHONE CALL for registering a Complaint against Judge Greer. I can't reveal my sources but this is the phone number for a few pay grades above J. Greer.

Call the: Judicial Qualifications Commission at

#1-850-488-1581. I am complaining to them tomorrow that J. Greer isn't God, that he's been in the husband's corner since Day One, he doesn't care a wit about Terri's parents or her husband's attempt at medical neglect, and I'd like to know if Greer can be recalled or impeached.

HE SHOULD HAVE OR COULD HAVE HONORED GOV. BUSH'S REQUEST TO ASSIGN A GUARDIAN AD LITEM to represent Terri's interest instead of once again, taking the side of the husband. Judge Greer is from the Sixth Circuit Court, Pinellas County.

Oh, and ping everybody you can think of.

From summer:

"..do a separate thread asking people to call this phone number FV provided. This could get a guardian appointed if the judge is tossed off the case for BIAS."

8 Jeb Bush intervenes for Schindler-Schiavo -   WND | 8/26

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has asked a judge to delay setting a date for removal of a feeding tube sustaining the life of a brain-disabled woman, Terri Schindler-Schiavo.

In a letter, Bush asked Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George W. Greer yesterday to keep her alive until a court-appointed guardian can "independently investigate the circumstances of this case and provide the court with an unbiased view that considers the best interests of Mrs. Schiavo."

(WND article excerpts, cont.:) "On Friday, the Florida Supreme Court refused to intervene in the case, clearing the way for a Sept. 11 hearing in which Greer would set a date for removal of the feeding tube.

Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler of Gulf Port, Fla., have been locked in a decade-long legal battle with their son-in-law over the care and custody of their daughter, who suffered massive brain damage when she collapsed at her home 13 years ago under unexplained circumstances at the age of 26.

***The bitter dispute over Terri's lack of care became a major euthanasia battle five years ago when her husband Michael Schiavo petitioned the court for permission to have her feeding tube removed, claiming she is in a persistent vegetative state and would not want to be kept alive "artificially." The Schindlers and a number of doctors and therapists believe she could be rehabilitated, but the courts have consistently sided with Schiavo and his lawyer, right-to-die advocate George Felos.

Florida Judge Rejects Governor's Bid to Help Terri Schiavo
By Jeff Johnson
CNSNews.com Congressional Bureau Chief
August 27, 2003

Capitol Hill (CNSNews.com) - Florida Circuit Judge George Greer Tuesday rejected a plea from Governor Jeb Bush to appoint a guardian ad litem to represent the best interests of Terri Schindler Schiavo, a 39-year-old disabled woman who suffered a brain injury in 1990 under questionable circumstances. Bush had intervened Monday after receiving 27,000 email messages asking for his help on Terri's behalf.

"I read [Gov. Bush's letter] because it came from the governor and I respect his position," Greer told the Tampa Tribune. "Beyond that, it is going in the file."

As CNSNews.com previously reported, Bush wrote Greer Monday asking him not to remove the disabled woman's feeding tube until a new guardian ad litem could "independently investigate" her condition. In the letter, Bush referenced the "fine balance between Mrs. Schiavo's right to privacy and her right to life," which Bush noted are co-equal under the Constitution.

"To err on one side is to prolong her existence, perhaps against her wishes and to continue the debate," Bush wrote. "To err on the other is an irrevocable act that affords no remediation."

But Greer told the Associated Press that he no longer has a choice in the matter.

"Frankly, I think I'm operating under a mandate from the 2nd District Court of Appeals," Greer said, "and frankly I don't think I can stray from that mandate."

In that same interview, however, the judge contradicted his own assessment of the limitation on his authority by stating that he was "not inclined" to appoint a guardian ad litem.

Michael Schiavo called Gov. Bush's intervention on behalf of Terri "crazy."

"The governor has deliberately twisted the facts in this case in an apparent effort to kowtow to his right-to-life political supporters," Schiavo told Tampa Tribune reporter David Sommer. "This has nothing to do with him. He should stay out of it."

Schiavo - who, for five years, has been seeking judicial approval to end his wife's life by denying her nutrition and hydration - also accused Terri's parents of manipulating their Catholic faith to keep their daughter alive.

"I believe in God and so did (?) Terri," Schiavo said, speaking of his still living wife in the past tense, "but they are out to push it on people... suddenly they are on a religious kick."

Judge refuses motion for hearing to set 'death date'

Greer also denied a motion Tuesday to hold an immediate hearing to set a date for the removal of Terri's nutrition and hydration tube. The hearing will be held, as previously announced, on Sept. 11. At that hearing, Greer will also rule on whether Schiavo may legally prohibit Terri's priest from visiting her.

Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, had also petitioned the court Monday to prohibit doctors from caring for Terri's current fever, labored breathing, vomiting, diarrhea and a "substantial infection."

"Given the imminence of the ward's death, further treatment (other than comfort care) for the ward's infection and other medical problems is unnecessary, unwarranted, inappropriate and futile," Felos said in an emergency motion, adding that Terri, "should be put back in hospice and receive comfort care and die in a peaceful setting."

Greer denied that motion, as well.

Michael Schiavo is using "privacy" as an excuse for denying Terri every contact from the outside world, even flowers. "One sign of the case's nastiness is the Schindlers' complaint that Schiavo limits their visits with their daughter. They also say he has refused to allow doctors to examine her, refused her antibiotics and needed dental work, refused to replace a broken wheelchair so she could be taken outdoors and refused the delivery of flowers from a friend to her room on her birthday."

"Her teeth are fine; she doesn't eat," Michael Schiavo said. "Why take her to a gynecologist? She was supposed to die months ago. I don't want her room filled with flowers from strangers or right-to-life activists. Even though she is vegetative she has a right to privacy."

I thought Gov Bush very eloquently made his case here, in this part:

To err on one side is to prolong her existence, perhaps against her wishes, and continue the debate. To err on the other is an irrevocable act that affords no remediation.

That is one thing that floors me .. This Judge should have long ago appointed an independent Guardian Ad Litem and not left her husband as her sole guardian .. especially since there are questions about her husband with abuse and the fractured bones that were reveled in xrays of Terry.

Everything I have read .. this Judge seems hell bent on having her killed

I know that Mr. Schiavo has tried to ban Terri's mother and family and priest from seeing her.

But, I don't know how a court could prevent doctors from ordering therapy, speach therapy (which is often actually swallowing therapy) and most especially oral nutrition.

Judge Greer has been with the husband since day one. A guardian ad litem would have been fair for Terri and her parents. Her parents love her but they are treated as the enemy. I'm ashamed this is happening in Pinellas County.

Judge Greer will not appoint a guardian ad litem. I have phone numbers from the phone book for the Clearwater Courthouse and all the guardianship phone numbers. He husband held a presser today and was very flippant about Jeb's letter and called the emailers a "bunch of right to lifers."

Hubby is looking a little nervous but with a pal like Judge Greer who is no Judge Moore, Terri has until the September 11 hearing to decide the date her starvation begins.

Here are the phone numbers: courthouse - 727-464-3000, guardianship numbers: 727-582-7563, 727-582-7771, and 727-464-8700. We can at least call as friends of Terri and voice our concerns.

I'm having a little trouble with the forgiveness, too. I think the key is that the forgiveness ISN'T tolerance.

I should add that really, Greece is a Christian state, following in the footsteps of Russia and Byzantium.

The clergy are paid by the state, and the church calls a lot of the shots.

Nationalism is a tremendous sin and one that church-states fall prey to easily. Greece and Russia have not been perfect in that regard.

Otoh, they are Orthodox states and thus hold the values of Orthodox Christianity to be critical. Orthodox Christianity was prolife before the term was coined. We have a deeply, *strongly* - held belief in the idea of every person being created in His image, and many believe us to be semi-pelagian because of this, a criticism I can very well understand.

Like every church, we have our weaknesses but being merciful to others is a very strong tenet of our doctrine. Once a month in our parish, we collect 1-2 thousand dollars at church for some food bank, prolife group, or even a family in need. I just delivered $1600 to a friend at work for her daughter-in-law whose husband was killed. (Collected at church in one afternoon after service.)
Thus the disabled tend to fare very well in traditionally Orthodox countries, though I freely admit missionaries of other faiths often do not.

But I am looking for a place for my children to grow up and be safe. So I have to set a priority. There is a good chance that we would face discrimination there as Americans ( not Greek), but in contrast to the discrimination here of the disabled, I don't see a need to ponder it much.

Look at the title though. It needs to be updated with URGENT and not aimed at Judge Greer. It's still a CALL TO ACTION but it's called PART 2.

IF WE DON'T FOCUS ON PUBLIC AWARENESS instead of "complain about Judge Greer", it's not going to get us any further.

Do you like the title: CALL TO ACTION PART 2: PUBLIC AWARENESS FOR TERRI SCHINDLER-SCHIAVO URGENT (that title would work better at this time).

Is our objective at this time to complain about Judge Greer or to improve public awareness?

One of my all-time heroes is Corrie ten Boom. She and her family hid Jews during WWII and were a part of the Dutch underground. Her story is told in "The Hiding Place" and I fully recommend it and any other book by Tante Corrie (Tante means Aunt...and it's fun to say!) After speaking in a church one day, she looked up to see a former Nazi officer who had been one of the guards at one of the concentration camps she had been in, Ravensbruuk, I believe. He was holding his hand out to hers. She recognized him...she didn't want to shake his hand and prayed very quickly. God gave her the strength to shake the hand of her former captor. She had this to say about forgiveness....

Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart. Corrie Ten Boom (1892 - 1983)

Tomorrow's Sunday, church-day for a lot of folks. Have you taken this up with the pastors? Churches should be holding Terri up for prayer. If each of us brought it to the attention of our individual churches, maybe each pastor could mass email affilitated churches and even seminaries. What's going on is nothing less than demonic. Jesus said '...this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.'!! (Please read: http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Mat/Mat017.html#21 ). This calls for spiritual warfare. It is time to call on ALL Christians, because, this attack is ultimately going to be directed at them, since they are the ones least likely to go along with this and the other nefarious plans of the NWO:

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I've been in an out of this thread, but it's not because I don't care. The past couple of months, every time I post something to tear down strongholds, the devil throws something new in my path to slow me down. Isabel was only the latest. (We were incredibly blessed there. God had to have put a shield of protection around us. So many others were not so fortunate.)

I think a lot of Christians are still asleep, and most have probably never heard of this case. It is the duty of the watchmen to sound the alarm. Make the preachers aware. If the churches won't stand up against this, we shouldn't be funding them with our dollars. There are other ways to spread the gospel (which is the only hope for this world), than by pumping monies into dead churches.

Is there an informative flyer we could print and pass out to neighbors and elsewhere? When the media is complicit with the powers-to-be, we have to be the mouthpieces and messengers. We'll have to be the mouthpieces more and more, on this and other issues, and should expect to be challenged on this as well.

MarMema, that's an incredible church you belong to. And THAT is exactly the kind of fasting God was talking about:

(in part...)
Isa 58:6 [Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Isa 58:7 [Is it] not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.

Isa 58:9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I [am]. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
(the rest here: http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Isa/Isa058.html#6 ). Some would call it 'appeasing the gods', but it is really being pleasing to God, and worthy of his favor.

Sure. FReepmail me your e-mail address, please. BTW, the word that keeps coming up here....choice. From VES's website (Voluntary Euthanasia Society - UK) We want to make back-street suicides and 'mercy killings' a thing of the past. Sound familiar?? It should. It's the banner under which the immoral, murderous abomination of abortion was ridden into the US. It's the same people. And some in the '60s said Roe would never happen. Well, it did. And this will too, without a tremendous amount of public outcry.

Have you seen this? The link is below the text.

Those who have signed the misnamed "Living Will" have already chosen death, however, unknowingly. "The Will," as the Washington Post's B.D. Colen (no closet pro-lifer) writes, "would authorize the murder of virtually anyone who filled out a Will, lost consciousness for a period of time, and would in some way be incapacitated upon regaining consciousness."

In The National Law Journal, attorney Seymour Levine observes, "The living will is a written instrument by which an individual declares in advance what his wishes are regarding medical treatment if he is not capable of speaking for himself." "To reinforce the lesson that patients' wishes are to be heeded, many have signed living wills," Bowen Hosford, another lawyer, notes in Making Your Medical Decisions.

"Choice" is the banner of the euthanasia movement, as it is of others seeking to kill the unwanted and the inconvenient. But is it a flag whose colors are false?

Despite her clearly expressed but unwritten desire for treatment, Mrs. Wanglie is a prime euthanasia target and her danger of dying from medical murder is anything but abstract.

Mrs. Wanglie entered a coma while in a Minnesota hospital last May when medical staff failed to resuscitate her in time to prevent it. The following month the Hennepin County Medical Center began its campaign to pull the plug on the life of this 87 year-old daughter of a Lutheran minister, who believes, as does CURE, that "Only He Who gave life has the right to take it." It is time to say that even doctors who think they're God are not.

I regret Mrs. Wanglie did not have the opportunity to sign a Life Support Directive (as thousands have done). When a media that spends hours of airtime and pages of print to promote the "living will" will not spare a minute or a word reporting on its opposite, the Life Support Directive, it is not surprising. And when hospitals encourage staff to witness "living wills" but forbid them to witness the Life Support Directives the question of choice or con gains further urgency.

I've sat in courtrooms where the lives of those living in coma (as my Dad did from February, 1981 through September, 1990) were tossed on the human garbage heap on the hear-say "evidence" of casual acquaintances based on off-hand remarks that would have been judged ludicrous had something more valuable than human life, say property, been at stake.

But Helga's husband, Oliver, a retired attorney experienced in testimony, recounts that his wife of more than half a century expressly told him, "If anything happens to me, I want everything done."

Yet despite the clear evidence of Mrs. Wanglie and the consistent objections of Mr. Wanglie and of the couple's adult children, David and Ruth, doctors at Hennepin County Medical Center remain determined to continue their efforts to bring about her death. So much for "choice." So much for "patients' rights."

I have alerted many media who have said they have been overruled about talking about it.
Why is that?

Well, now that's downright interesting. As I said, I haven't been able to be on this thread full time, and have not read all the posts. I googled VES (spelled out) with Rockefeller and came up with the following very interesting chapter of a book. Most interesting about the state of Florida trying to implement this in 1968! I guess I missed this. Was this passed after that time, or is this the precedent that they need to get this enacted? Please explain....

Because people have to be shocked into "seeing" ugly things. People like stunts. The jell-o campaign was unpopular (privately touted as "brilliant" by a PR person) but it would have been news-worthy simply because of the sheer display....

In a world of instant gratification, most people have to be slapped with an issue before they will show even the slightest bit of concern. As I was told..."Most people just want to sit on the couch and drink a coke while the world goes to hell." (paraphrased)
