The very link you provided shows that he admitted to using drugs, if you read it carefully. He says that some guy gave him something like speed when he came to America, and told him he would lose weight. He didn't lose weight, he lost muscle tone, so he threw the pills away. (How do you admit that you lost muscle tone instead of weight if you are denying that you took the drug?) I got the impression that he understood and answered the question regarding drug usage to mean at the time of the interview, which he denied, by explaining that he'd been there and done that, and chose not to do it for the sake of his body. If you take just one line out of the paragraph, you don't get the whole answer, and the whole answer doesn't support your belief that he lied about it.

Moral standards have declined so much that this old interview would hardly raise an eyebrow in "liberated" CA, would it?
To: Maigrey; ambrose; Sabertooth
If that's the worst that is available, then I don't see a problem
But is it? That's the troubling question. As ambrose and Saber pointed out earlier here, the Dems' axe-man Bob Mulholland threw out some strip-club dirt at then-Senate candidate Herschensohn just before the '92 election. Could have helped bestow Barbara Boxer upon us. Point is, what if anything are Bob & Co. keeping on ice (about Arnold) until late in the game?

Now I just discovered that the world of bodybuilding in the 70s was sleazy and seedy. Who would have thunk it?? My illusions of it being a reputable and noble profession have been forever shattered. [/sarcasm off]
I hope Arnold doesn't bring his sleaze from 27 years ago into the fine institution of politics. Oh wait, his opponents just did.

you know what? I was doing the same things back in '77
I was raised at the tail end of the 'sexual revolution' where people who should have known better were teaching that 'if it feels good, do it'
I grew out of it. You would think you would not have to learn on your own that 'virtue is it's own reward' but it is amazing when you finally do.

How many Freepers are taking place in those polls bud?
What do you want me to do about it? Every Schwarznegger defender on this forum has stated they will vote for McClintock if he can get his numbers up.
Please look around before posting about premature support.

Conservatism is dead.I hope you're wrong. I hope its just the death of the religious right, typlifying those with whom I am disgusted.

Oh c'mon... he said that no ever even smoke a joint in his presence nor did drugs of any kind. The denial was emphatic as can be. Just like "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." Oh, but what did he mean by "sexual relations" the rats asked... Now we have to define what he meant by drugs. The Clintonification of the Free Republic. BLah.

Not a one of us would be surprised at an interview like that from Billy Bob - and I am not surprised at something like that from Arnold, though I doubt that the interview as published Wee Wee is not without editorial embellishments - poetic license, if you will.
To: churchillbuff
On homosexual issues, he will have some say, but not on abortion issues. He does not support redefining marriage to include same sex marriages. So I think the exposure in this area is rather minimal.
The recall is about the fiscal disaster the state is in. Arnold can win this election and set the state finances aright. Social issues are not on the front burner for this election, and no one could make any claims for a mandate in that area.
While some Calis might be swayed by Arnold's social stands, I very much doubt anyone on FR will be. Nor will any person who believes in the sanctity of unborn life, and the evil of homosexuality.

I think this will actually help him! He's running for Governor of CALIFORNIA, not POTUS.
Even during the 70s Sex Revolution, he was honest...candid. Smoked dope like everybody else. Obviously not homophobic, though very heterosexual, yet very gay-friendly. Fundamentalist athlete, yet gentle and sensitive. Oozes tolerance!
It could be a LANDSLIDE for Arnold!...but only here in the Hotel California, of course.
This wouldn't play well in Peoria....nahhhh....

It was 26 years ago! Hmm, I only have a hazy recollection about 1977. Something to do with Tai sticks, 40 ouncers and frat parties. Ah, misspent youth!
To: ambrose
Strange that you ignore his recent admission of marijuana use.

That's right; and he was an equal opportunity sex provider, something that all the libs who care about minorities should love. I really do not care what he did as far as this topic goes when he was 29. If he committed murder or rape, then I would care.... This should not hurt him.
To: Windcatcher
Did you miss the entire impeachment proceedings and the following of it here on FR? It was not about sex. It was about whether or not a woman could obtain her day in court, could present that court with testimony, and whether the testimony would be truthful. It first and foremost was a test of whether or not a woman could legitimately make the charge that she had been sexualy harrassed and solicited with the implied promise of a gain in job status, an illegal act in Arkansas and DC, and whether that case could follow the legal path to a court hearing even if the perp was the President of the US. Clinton denied her that. Get your facts straight. And remember, character counts. V's wife.
