Hey, political science major, was the concept of private property rights ever discussed in your indoctrination sessions... er, classes?

The issue of private property rights was discussed, as also was the issue of public health. Should restaurants abide by health codes? Since a restaurant is private property, should they be able to sell toilet water to customers? How about used toilet water??? What if the customers never know that rats are hanging around in the kitchen? I guess since it is private property, yet serving the public, the government should have no say in what happens inside.

Sigh.

You're not from around here, are you?

The public doesn't generally have access to the kitchen.

Get it?

The public does know, upon entering, whether the establishment is smoking or non-smoking.

I don't want the cook throwing stuff from the floor (or worse) into my soup, and I have no problem with the Health Department ensuring this doesn't happen.

I do have a problem, in a "free" society with somebody so stupid that he doesn't understand what a "smoking allowed" sign means.

How would a wet-behind-the-ears kid like you know what the f*%$ a bar is like, you freepin' puppy?

I'm 26, my best friend owns several, and I do drink at them. Therefore, I do know what bars are like.

You are talking about some fern strewn place that calls itself a bar.

Ummmm a bar is a bar. If it only sells beer and liquor and maybe some nuts, it's a bar. If I can sit down and BS with the bartender about life, it's a bar. If I can sit down and talk politics with the patrons, it's a bar. Need I go on?

Here's the news, sonny: people like you don't go into bars where working men hang out talking about nuts, bolts, sheetrock and plumblines.

People like me? Oh, so am I one of those uppity folk? Do you not take too kindly to 26 year olds who like to further their education coming into your bar? You know nothing about be besides the fact that I'm on FR, been a member for several years, have lived in San Diego, went to law school, was a political science major, from Texas, and what I look like on a picture taken down in New Orleans...and whatever else I've stated on here.

Little farts like you and your "smelly" remarks are about as much use in real life as that law degree. Stay away from real people or I predict you'll get the beating of your life in a real bar.

I stated facts about the night-life in San Diego, and all of a sudden they are "smelly"? And I'm going to get a beating? Like I said earlier, you don't know me, nor my fighting skills. I can stick to facts. You can't. It's pretty sad when that happens.

What "education" would that be?

Observing the lifestyle of "the masses?"

Sure is a lot of trouble to go to just to get people to stop bowling.

Lose, lost, loose, loss; four separate words with definite meanings, why is it so difficult here on FR to get them right?

Would it be alright if they allowed smoke in the kitchen, or would you prefer your steak boiled?

I'm 26, my best friend owns several, and I do drink at them. Therefore, I do know what bars are like.

Your best friend owns several bars? Why do I doubt that? Not that a lawyer would lie, maybe just prevaricate.

I'm 60, sonny, and been drinking in bars since I was fifteen. Most of the real bars in America were closed before you started high school, puppy.

Ummmm a bar is a bar. If it only sells beer and liquor and maybe some nuts, it's a bar. If I can sit down and BS with the bartender about life, it's a bar. If I can sit down and talk politics with the patrons, it's a bar. Need I go on?

A bar is atmosphere, numbnuts. A bar is neighborhood, for good or bad. If you think that a bar is a bar, then you've probably only been in the "several" that your friend owns.

Ever been in the Copper Kettle in San Antonio? Ever been in the Quarterdeck in Hyannis? Ever been in the Waverly in Bangor?

Three totally different bars, all with an atmosphere that practically guarantees you'd get your a$$ kicked if you mentioned "smelly" smoke.

Yes, people like you, junior. People like you who presume to think that every bar in America has the same clientele as the "bars" hoity little turds like you frequent. You're a lawyer, for God's sake! Do you think you even want to frequent the same bars as us toothless, roughhanded working geeks who make sure your life goes smoothly? I can assure you that you will not be welcomed by us hardworking, under-educated workers who you think engage in "smelly" habits.

I stated facts about the night-life in San Diego, and all of a sudden they are "smelly"? And I'm going to get a beating? Like I said earlier, you don't know me, nor my fighting skills. I can stick to facts. You can't. It's pretty sad when that happens.

You're the one who mentioned how nice it was not to have your clothes smell of smoke, cheese weasel. As for your fighting skills, junior, I've seen your picture and as a famous American once said, "That'll be the day!"

That is a hugh and siries question. I loose track sometimes on how people play lose and fast with grammer and speling.

What "education" would that be?

You seem to have contempt for people who go to school. That's sad. I graduated with a B.S. in Political Science, just completed my first year of law school, decided that it wasn't what I wanted, and am now getting my Master of Public Administration with a focus in health-care. I busted my butt to get to where I am. I'm paying my own way, and I'm proud of what I've completed.

I don't say this to look down on people. I say this to show that I do know how to research and that I'm not some young punk as some of the crowd on here like to say.

How did you come to that conclusion? Not acquiescing to your take on life equals contempt for people who go to school?

Who called you a "young punk?" And who's "the crowd."

I'm 60, sonny, and been drinking in bars since I was fifteen.

And does it surprise you that the overall cancer death rate for men 45 and over has dropped since 1970 except in lung cancer, which has risen in your age bracket?

The adjusted mortality rate from cancer of the respiratory system system per 100,000 population increased from 12.8 in 1950 to 28.4 in 1970 and 59.1 in 1991.

Are you content with the health expenditures and the lost productivity that are a result of lung cancer?

I live my own life with no complaints and don't run to teacher when the going gets heavy, sonny.

I can see where lost productivity would mean a great deal to a kid like you, but I belong to neither the company nor the state.

When I go, hacking and spitting into the twilight, my only hope is to be able to hack and spit on a statist on the way out the door.

But thanks for caring, teacher's pet.
