What I cannot comprehend is who on earth is giving $300,000 to Peter Ueberroth?
To: ambrose
I don't see how Bustamante is that much worse than Ahnold. I really don't. Both will raise our taxes
Once again I see someone saying straightfacedly that Schwarzenegger WILL raise taxes, as if there were no dispute about this.
*sigh* Look, I suppose it's possible, but in order to believe so, you must discount as a lie just about every statement AS has made on the subject. He hasn't lied to me yet, and neither has McClintock. I don't think either of 'em would raise taxes (except in that earthquake scenario, perhaps?).

How frequently is the rino term used? Constantly. To borrow a religious term from our paleo brethern - Amen.
What is even funnier are those who can't distinguish between "rhino" and "RINO." I've had years of listening to stupid accusations based on the inability of certain FReepers to spell.

Nice we're carrying on that fine CA Republican tradition of destroying one another while the most inept and corrupt Democrats on earth are busy winning elections. Arnold AND Mclintock both are against raising taxes Bustemonte has already said that's what he would do and Davis already has.Mclintock AND Arnold both support prop187 and oppose giving drivers licenses to illeagals. We know where Davis and Buste stand here as well. Both Mclintock and Arnold would cut spending.both Mclintock and Arnold suport prop13 Buste would increase property taxes on COMERCIAL property anyone think that'll bring buisiness back to the state?Arnold aint Reagan but niether is Mclintock and niether one is Bustemonte.

He was just on Hardball and hint at the poll but did not mention it.

I hear ya. But these polls are kaakaa, imo,, besides Tom is over the 10% limit and should rise as his message gets out.
Hey, I wish the last debate was Sept 10 or 15th instead, then whoever is sucking wind can drop out.. but I don;t control the media, candidates or their darn schedules, just my lowly keyboard.
Consider Tom as Arnie's backup until a couple of week out, at least.
To drop out now makes no sense, especially before any forums or debates, and is a line that doesn;t bear repeating, imo..

Myself, I am doing minimal posting until some candidates actually present position on issues, etc.
Very wise, especially since none of the major candidates are campaigning very heavily right now. (Watch this sentence be misinterpreted by at least some to mean that their favorite candidate is not campaigning at all.) September is going to tell the tale of this recall.

"Um, I saw the same thing during the Riordan-Simon "debates" on this forum last year. The Riordan folks were happy to denigrate and slam the Simon folks, and vice versa. Just an observation."
Yeah. Great. And an all too typical outcome: While Simon's people denigrate Riordan's supporters, Davis winds up winning.
That is what I'm talking about. All this energy spent, to win the sarcasm contest, on some internet site.
What about a close look at HOW TO WIN THIS ELECTION?
I live in CA. I want my car tax reduced, my work-comp system fixed. Practicle, current stuff.
I'm not interested much in some refined political ideology debate, if it means losing today, hoping for some greater future victory.

Don't you know the Arnold supported a Kiddie Kare initative on last Novembers ballot the will cost us a minimum of 1/2 a billion and probably twice that. I thought FReepers were opposed to cradle to grave tax supported BS like that...
To: NormsRevenge
I am praying for either
1) McClintock sprints into a (sustained) lead over AS, somehow without breaking The 11th Commandment all to heck, AND WINS; or
2) AS stays substantially ahead all the way ... and WINS ... and takes McClintock on as Budget Czar and Axe-Man Extraordinaire ... and thereafter, McClintock is Gov for 8 years!
I'm cringing in fear, however, of either
3) simply losing the recall itself (on Davis); or
4) having Busta win BECAUSE A.S. AND T.M. had roughly even levels of support and both stayed in until the end, polling 20-something % each ... gah.

Don't worry. The LA times will show Bustamove or whatever his name is at 95% to Ahnold's 16 next week.

"See my post #100 about polling."
My response is to expect my side to be more expert and effective at using polls, media manipulation, given the circumstances.

Ummm, Ambrose, before you give the governorship to Arnold and start castigating people who may choose to vote for him, there are a couple of small hurdles we should clear first. (A) Recall Davis. In the event the recall passes, (B) defeat Bustamante. The entire well-oiled Dem machine in this state is gearing up to either defeat the recall and, in the event it does pass, to elect Bustamante. While there is all this intramural warfare going on between McClintock supporters and other Republicans and Conservatives, we have all lost sight of the ball.

Prop 49 -- on which, in the spirit of full disclosure, I point out I voted No -- was endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, California Taxpayers Union, California Chamber of Commerce and Rep. Christopher Cox. It was
opposed by the NOW gang, the Cal. Federation of Teachers and other union hack groups, The City of Berkeley ... well, you get the idea.
That the one you mean?

There is a higher calling than defeating Democrats--namely, implementing conservative policy and causing prosperity. Everyone seems to have lost sight of the end for the means.
