[history]
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- On a chilly morning in June, a team of scientists using underwater microphones picked up a series of strangely high-pitched ticking and chirping noises, similar to what a dolphin or Beluga whale would make. Trouble is, they were miles from the ocean, on Lake Champlain.

Be nice if somebody who doesn't make money from the perpetutation of the myth chimed in.

They have just now deciphered his message - "Don't vote for Dean. He's a wacko"

Be nice if somebody who doesn't make money from the perpetutation of the myth chimed in Ohm you mean someone like Animal Voice - the scientific research company that was hired by Dicovery Channel to do a Sound scan of the lake, and is now reporting it's findings.
They are not "perpetuating" the myth, they are reporting that their scans indicated that there is something in the lake that has the ability to emit Bio-sonar.
They are making no claims that it is "champ", they readily admit that they have to do furthur analysis of their findings before they can report exactly what they heard and try to identify what made the sound.

I've seen a wake there, going against the normal flow of waves. As in the above account, it disappeared when a boat went to investigate.

Ohm...you mean the Discovery Channel that will be selling advertising for the airing of their documentary on "Champ"?

Last time I checked that is how things work in this world. You want to research something, you hire someone to do the research. Then you have to pay them to do the research. Advertising on the special on the research pays for the research.
Discovery shows are quite interesting, and if this one goes the way most of their research into things like this go - they will basically debunk the existance of the monster.

Champ is actually the Loch Ness monster. There is an underground tunnel that links Lake Champlain and Loch Ness and Champy/Nessy goes back and forth between the two.
