Just how bad were theliberals in the sixties ? Worse than any could have imagined .
Former liberal turned Reagan Conservative , writer Author David Horowitz grew up in the sixties as a radical liberal activist and friend of radical Democrat Tom Hayden , future Demacrat Senator , 1996 Los Angeles Mayoral candidate against Richard Riordan , and husband of Jane Fonda .
As a friend of Mr . Hayden during the anti - Vietnam war era , David Horowitz reaveals in his book 'Radical Son ' that Tom Hayden actively ,literally , and personally trained the VietCong how to conduct Psychological warfare against our own U.S. troops in Vietnam . Had war been declared by Congress , Tom Hayden would have been tried for treason .
So how is it that Mr. Hayden could run for Los Angeles Mayor in 1996 and this not be revealed during the mayoral campaign ? This is anyone's guess .
So what is the point of this short but revealing expose' on Radical Democrat California Senator Tom Hayden , former husband of Jane Fonda ? For those who love America , be ever vigilant , and know your enemy . Do not be naive . These Psuedo-Americans ( friends of our enemies ) are out there now waging psychological warfare in election campaigns and off years , and they have not changed their stripes , as we have seen from Congressman Democrat Dick Gephardt's attack on President Bush and our men in uniform in Iraq . Thier constant carping and caterwalling against all good things Republican reveal themselves as nothing more than immature children in adult bodies who never learned to grow up out of the ME generation of the sixties . Thier mentors are such people as brain damaging drug use promoters such as David Crosby of Crosby Stills , Nash , and Young rock ' n ' Roll fame who was qouted on a ' rockumentary ' saying , " We wanted to take the people out of the fifties ..." in thier promotion of thier music and drug use .
David Crosby in recent times had been looking for a liver donor . You see , thel ost and fallen man destroyed his liver with alchoholism . Maybe this would not have happened had he left the 50's alone .
Remember the difference between a liberal and a Conservative . A liberal is an ideologue who believes in attaining his goal through any means ( 'any means to an end ') : lying , cheating , racebaiting , classwarfare , and the transfer of wealth These are typixcal Socialist - communist methods . A Conservative is one who wishes to work , achieve , worship God , and be with his friends .
Dear friends , be ever vigilant and courageous .
Love , cousinkoala

Yes, and with the help of disgrunlted conservatives who turned on Bush 41, the Dems under Clinton replenished the aging socialists throughout the bureaucracy and the courts with a new crop of career/lifetime appointed Liberals/Socialists Yep, something I won't ever forget.

"Please correct me if I'm wrong on some stuff. Johnson did the worst micro-managing of the air strike packages. Then towards the end, the North waited until Nixon resigned before its final offensive to the South."
Nixon "quit" the war months before he resigned. Once Nixon ordered US troops out he opened the door to the South.
Johnson was no better.
However both of them pretty much equally had about the same number of casulties.
Eishenhower put us in Viet Nam,
Kennedy began to escalate what Eishenhower started and
Johnson and Nixon did the rest.
All of them put politics in front of winning that war.
Early American advisors put there by Eisenhower were ordered NOT to put ammo in their guns/rifles.
It was up to the South Vietnamese to protect them if they came under fire.
Many people forget Eishenhower was president of a liberal college for a year
after he 1st retired from the military before re-activating for Truman.
It was Eishenhower who 1st had US troops wearing NATO berets in the early 50's to get France to join NATO.

"I thought the words after these were a link, they were in RED?"
Sorry about that.
The red was just to highlight the statement only.

"The baby boomers from the 60's said they would change the world ... They did that alright .. for the worse"
The 56,000 that died serving their country during Viet Nam DID make a difference.
Those who served their country then made a difference.
Those who supported them at home made a difference.
All for the better, not the worse.
Many of the same groups are still nmaking a difference for the better today.

I am not sure what you mean. I will try to clarify. The people who considered themselves socialists admired the Communists for being the real socialists. Therefore, the ideal of the Left was the Communist police state from the Great Depression on.

You are right about the seeds for the sixties being planted in the 30's and I will vouch that the protestors, etc, in the 60's were nothing more than tools for those hard core communists who set in here during the great depression. They used them and the dumb asses didn't know. I was there, I saw it up close. They also used the blacks as foot soldiers. What I don't know and have always wondered is whether the 60s led into the mess we are in as a natural progression of the creation of a welfare state or whether there is a central organized revolution going on. I really don't know. It seems so paranoid to suggest but I wonder about it alot.

And another thing about the 60's. The mass of protesting pot smoking free loving radicals was small,,most of us were in college, going to professional school, having babies, making plans for a future. The big protesting proband just made alot of noise and had an admiring press. Hillary got covered giving that infantile speech at Radcliffe while the same year noone was coveriing the decent kids working thru college, making parents proud, being good people. We were anonynomous as far as the press went. The military was savaged, made fun of all whilst dying in Asia. I went and spend a while in New York working and met these protesting types,,they were vain, hard, mean and hateful all the while singing free love songs. And I met decent good black people trying to make life better being used, and I mean used, by radicals who were more racist than any I ever met in the deep south. They were used to hate this country and to burn it down while the radicals purred in satisfaction because they didn't have any guts or courage. I really hated them then and now.

What I don't know and have always wondered is whether the 60s led into the mess we are in as a natural progression of the creation of a welfare state or whether there is a central organized revolution going on. I was touched by your two posts. Although I was born in 1953 in Canada, I have had lots of experience with 60s activists, first through contact with Americans who moved to Canada in the late 60s and early 70s, then from living in the U.S. for a few years, and also from working in educational institutions. Everything you stated I agree with; as to whether or not it is the result of centrally planned actions, that is a question that has interested me for a long time. The best-expressed short explanation of the phenomenon (IMHO of course) is here:
The Hive
I don't endorse everything that these two writers do -- I'm not a Catholic, I favor American support for Israel, and I think conservative politicians have to make some compromises with the welfare state. However, their analysis of the nature of the contemporary Western left is excellent, and makes for great reading.

Thanks,,very interesting site! What were your experiences with our citizens who fled to Canada? What were they like? I am curious as I have never read a word about what happened to those people and what they were like.

The liberals in the 60s were "anti-establishment".
40 years later, these liberals ARE the "establishment".

We know from the Venona intercepts (see the Yale book) that the Communist Part members were active agents working against the US. That does not shock me. An ideology is going to have a working plan. The Communists were good at destroying anyone who was aware of their tactics and agenda. I am glad they made an enemy out of Ronald Reagan.
If someone goes over what Reagan endured in Hollywood, when he stayed up all night with a gun to protect his family, then that person will see how dangerous the Reds were and are.
Reagan was inspired to go into politics because of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" with Jimmy Stewart. It is still a great film.
At my midwestern college we had a student body president who dressed as a Marxist all week long and then cleaned up for alumni days, etc. It was a riot to see what a phony he was. The college has preserved a part of the campus marred by the scribblings of the 1960's activists, as a holy shrine, so they do not get my money.
It was easy for progressive types to give in to the radicals. The progressives and the spineless conservatives got rewarded for their silence.

The Communists were intimidating Hollywood via a union. The actors were so frightened that they went to work through a drainage sewer rather than pass through the angry crowd of Marxists. Reagan, as union president and patriot, insisted on going through the front gate, sitting up and not hiding.
His life was threatened. He stayed up at night with a gun to guard his family, because of the threats. He really stood alone against the radicals. That is why he did so much to end the rule of the Evil Empire.
I hope I have the details right. Others should add or correct where they can.

The legislators who passed those programs in the 60s were way too old to be hippies...many were even too old to have fought in WWII.
...not to defend 60s/70s lefties.
