"There are no true atheists, If you are master of your own fate, then you are placing yourself as a god...therefore monotheist...
"

Zavien has spoken, eh? Sorry, but there are many, many atheists. Am I master of my own fate? Not really. I could be killed today by a drunken driver or by a virus. I'm subject to all the laws of nature. I worship nothing, except perhaps our Constitutional principles, and worship is the wrong word for that.

Please don't presume to tell me what I think. It's unbecoming to you.

Thank you for showing me more than one. I am so relieved to see two among the many hundreds of others.

Now that I can whole-heartedly second!

Not without reason, either - by this logic, your local police are perfectly able to suppress your First Amendment right to free speech, freedom of religion, and so forth, since the First Amendment is only binding upon Congress, and not them.

Well, they would have their own constitutions to answer to.

My views on the 14th amendment are known, but I'll accept for the sake of argument it was intended somehow or another to refer to the BOR even though it makes no mention of it. We're still left with the actual words of the amendment - "privileges and immunities", "life, liberty, and property", "equal protection". Now the 1st amendment, on its face, is applicable only to Congress. That much is indisputable. The only way it can go on to apply to the states is through the filter provided by the aforementioned words from the 14th.

IOW, in order to make the case that Moore's actions are unconstitutional, one would have to show that he abridged anyone's privileges or immunities, or denied anyone life, liberty, or property without due process of law, or deprived anyone of the equal protection of the laws. Good luck.

"Tell me which of your 3 items listed are unConstitutional vs the ones that are Constitutional."

What we are seeing here before our very eyes are the dying throes of the United States government acknowleding God as having any authority over it - whatsoever.

God will be completely sanitized from our government. Further, citizens (government employees first, of course) will be severly castigated (perhaps imprisoned) for espousing thier "Neofascist" views openly and in public and will be held in great contempt for speaking out the religious beliefs.

Just trace the historical decline of Christianity in America over the past 100 years and you will see the inevitable conclusions.

"In God We Trust" hasn't meant anything in this nation for decades. That empty motto (as far as the U.S. Government is concerned) will be forever removed from it's currency. I look for this step to be next (within five years).

I seriesly question why/how anyone could find the 10 Commandments "offensive". Actually, I do not believe anyone does. I believe such is only a liar's claim.

No one has, nor can they site a statute, citing any law about this case...
1st Admendment clearly states, Congress shall not make any law...So, how can a law be make against this, or for it?

All the judge has to do it put up a book case full of different religous texts. That way, he can keep his statue, and still acknowledge his God as well as everyone elses, too. That way, he wouldn't be establishimng any one religion, as the pagan courts claim he is.

No one has the right to break the law and say they are doing it for there religious faith, they would be the ones subject to arrest.

Muhammad Ali went to Jail: Was it religion protected?
Animals have rights on our country so people are not allowed to do whatever they please to an animal.

Even though I totally thing your wrong as 2 men sleeping together for being an atheist I respect you as a person and would be offended if you brought your idea to the fore-front as our country was never founded on anything or anybody that did not acknowledge a higher power than just another human being

...whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government,...

Then by God we'd better get busy to abolish it!

Our government is too big for its britches and needs some surgery.

Granted, but it is the principle that I am looking at here.

There is no violation of the Constitituion, though the courts claim there is.

So, your being offended is far, far more important than what any others (the majority)?

So, because you are offended - we, the many believers are to tear down anything that offends you? Why should we? By your very effort to get us to do so, you state that our feelings are of no concern to you - only your minority view should be listened to.

We choose between respecting our God and honoring your feelings. I'm afraid you just come in second. Especially since you show no concern for our rights to religious freedom, religious expression. You claim control over all public property? Why you and not us? We too have control over private property - as much as you do.

You choose as a power play to make others jump though hoops to please you. You wish to dictate how we live. Why should we allow you to take control over the lives of other Americans?

You have the freedom to believe what you wish, you have the freedom to go where you wish, and you have the freedom to ignore what you wish, you have the freedom to pray where you wish. You do not have the freedom to take away from others those same rights.

hmmm...again what you woship/idolize what ever, is your god...Many Pastors have said, what ever you put your time and money into can be a god...so, it's a matter of perception.

Some say nature, that can be a "god"...Sorry you haven't come to know my God, the creator of this universe, sorry you feel you have to avoid him. He does love you, that's why he sent Jesus, so that you can have fellowship with Him in eternity.

Jesus; was he a liar, lunatic, or Lord?

The USSC is not a "higher Court" when it comes to a state matter!

Then why did Moore appeal to them for help when his own state wouldn't grant him the stay?

(No slam, just truly curious.)

Easier than you think. Judge Moore used the platform of the courthouse to promote his own personal beliefs, thus enjoying the liberty to do so, and yet denied an atheist organization the same liberty when they sought to place a display - a sculpture or picture of an atom, according to the trial court record - representing their own beliefs in the same courthouse rotunda. Thus, Judge Moore has promoted his beliefs, yet denied the freedom of others to do the exact same thing.

No more divine right of kings, please - Judge Moore does not have special liberties unavailable to everyone else. Such is the clear and explicit meaning of "equal protection under the law".

"godless athesist - why do you have the right to put your religion in place of others religion? You need to get your godless religion to your private property.

Remember, what you do privately is your business but public funds should not be required to pay for it, public places should not have to promote your religion.

So, get out of public buildings the same as you expect others to do.
"

Actually, there are no symbols for atheism, so there's nothing in the courtroom to symbolize it. I'm not putting anything having do to with atheism anywhere. I'm not in a position of authority to do anything of the sort. I'm just me, you see.

A monument to the Old Testament 10 Commandments is something quite different. It is a direct symbol of two religions, Judaism and Christianity. I didn't put it there, nor would I. I have nothing to put anywhere.

This question is moot, really, since the entire court in Alabama says that Moore's gotta get rid of this thing. My suggestion is that he put it on his front lawn. He's the one who likes it.
