NEA to target Republicans in 2004

Back in 1984, when I wrote "NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education," my goal was to awaken conservatives and Republicans to the fact that the National Education Association had become a radical, leftist political organization using the Democrat Party to achieve its goals. For years, they had been using their extensive local influence to elect liberals and leftists to school boards, municipal governments, state legislatures, and the U.S. Congress.

Back in 1967, five years after the NEA had become a labor union, the NEA's executive secretary, Sam Lambert, made it very clear that the NEA was determined to become a powerful political machine rather than merely an organization of teachers devoted to improving education. He declared:

NEA will become a political power second to no other special interest group ... NEA will organize this profession from top to bottom into logical operational units that can move swiftly and effectively and with power unmatched by any other organized group in the nation.

And, indeed, his prediction became reality with the help of Uniserv, the association's full-time, unionized, political cadre.

Without the support of the NEA, it is doubtful that Bill Clinton would have been elected president in 1992, and re-elected for a second term. But they had the terrible taste of defeat in 2000 when George W. Bush won over Al Gore by just a few votes in Florida. They are now determined to never let that happen again. And so, they are gearing up for 2004.

The NEA is planning to target 16 states where the Democrat nominee for the presidency has a good chance of upsetting George W. Bush. The NEA is also planning to upset Republicans in 45 House races by recruiting candidates who they believe can win. This was spelled out to the delegates at their latest convention in New Orleans during the July 4 weekend.

Although about 30 percent of NEA members are Republicans, the delegates at the convention were, for the most part, the most radically leftist leaders of the organization. And they are pushing the leftist agenda, which includes full-day pre-kindergarten, gay rights in curriculum development and teacher hiring, comprehensive sexual health education, support for Title IX quota policies, national socialized medicine, multiculturalism, statehood for the District of Columbia, an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, etc.

And they are still anti-homeschooling, anti-vouchers and tuition tax credits, anti-English as the official language, pro-family planning – otherwise known as abortion – anti-school prayer, including moments of silence, pro joining the International Court of Justice. The NEA has always been a strong supporter of the United Nations and world government. It was instrumental in creating UNESCO as a future "World Board of Education." In 1946, Joy Elmer Morgan, editor of the NEA Journal, wrote:

In the struggle to establish an adequate world government, the teacher has many parts to play. He must begin with his own attitude and knowledge and purpose. He can do much to prepare the hearts and minds of children for global understanding and cooperation ... At the very top of all the agencies which will assure the coming of world government must stand the school, the teacher and the organized profession.

And while 57 years later, world government is still to be achieved in a conflict-ridden, discredited United Nations, the NEA is still betting on its becoming reality. Schools downplay patriotism as politically incorrect, nativist and exclusionary.

But perhaps the most dangerous of the NEA's latest policies is that concerning early childhood education. Their resolution on the subject reads:

The National Education Association supports early childhood education programs in public schools for children from birth [you read correctly!] through age eight. The Association also believes that early childhood education programs should include a full continuum of services for parents /guardians, and children, including child care, child development [including drugging with Ritalin and other mind-altering drugs], developmentally appropriate and diversity-based curricula [no doubt including the gay-rights agenda], special education [as a result of the deliberate dumbing-down process], and appropriate bias-free screening devices.

Naturally, all of this at taxpayer expense. The last thing any of us should want is for those behaviorist educator-psychologists to get hold of America's defenseless infants so they can be brainwashed as early as possible and turned into intellectual cripples before they can even speak their own language.

That resolution alone should make us all aware of the brave new world being planned by these malevolent utopians who call themselves educators. Neither the Nazis nor communists could have done better!

Nineteen years ago, it was obvious that the NEA would go from bad to worse. Their membership has increased greatly by including cafeteria workers, janitors, etc. And their budget for political mischief has grown enormously. Their defeat in 2000 has made them redouble their efforts to regain control of the two houses of Congress and the White House. Undoubtedly, the homeschool movement put a crimp in the NEA's political power. Thus, conservatives must do everything they can to make sure that the NEA monster is kept in its cage in 2004.

Dr. Samuel L. Blumenfeld is the author of eight books on education, including: "Is Public Education Necessary?" "NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education," "The Whole Language/OBE Fraud" and "Homeschooling: A Parents Guide to Teaching Children." His books are available on Amazon.com. Back issues of his incisive newsletter, The Blumenfeld Education Letter, are available online.

This is good news, actually. From my experience, the NEA manages to screw up everything they touch.

Yet they continue (I mean, the union bosses continue) to hold the power. And the taxpayer must dance to this tune.

I recommend the aforementioned book "NEA: Trojan Horse in American Education". The book was a real eye opener. As Americans we often take too much for granted and our freedoms allow us to be born optomists and unsuspecting of those who wish the demise of our "American Way". Three things have made a major impact IMO on society's apparent fall from grace. The NEA is a front runner in that they target our impressionable youth. With stay-at-home moms mocked into non-existence, the NEA has been emboldened to socialize/poison our children knowing many of their actions would fall below most parents "radar". The second nefarious influence has been the Warren/Marshall Courts which behind the scenes set many of the abusing legal precidents into motion through their modernizing views of what the Founding Fathers "meant" when the Constitution was forged. The final piece of the puzzle came in the form of the ACLU whose organization of trial lawyers (with coffers overflowing from tobacco claims) and "pocketed" Federal Judges took advantage of the Supreme Court's ambiguous precidents to set the HARD LEFT LIBERAL's agenda into motion. Our American way-of-life softened us into ignoring the subtle "warning signs"... if something didn't affect our immediate life we turned a blind eye to it. We have lost our ability to distinguish evil until it is fast upon us. Every compromise made on our morals has only emboldened those who wish us harm. The church has stood silent, infiltrated from within by those who undermined it's strength, spreading moral relativism as the "little leaven" that ruins the whole loaf. America is asleep and the wolves have thrown off their sheep's clothing...sad but sobering.

It depends on the district. Mom was a public school teacher and never joined a union but some places it is required for employment.

Discipline a student once for fighting, improper language, or any number of unacceptable behaviors; have the parents come to school and blame the teacher and you realize why there will never be non-union teachers.

Complete lack of parental support or accountability of their parenting skills in many families today. Add in all the politics and as teacher you quickly realize why you mark repub on that union application.

Allowing these groups to teach our kids is the definiton of 'child abuse!' I don't see how any parent can let these guys be responsible for his children. I would definitely home school, to avoid my children's being poisoned by these commies.

What I find interesting is that someone would have the gall to try to take some credit for "Enlightening" us to the fact that the NEA is a pro rat anti American operation. It's kind of like trying to take credit for having coined the word "Friday".

I believe teachers may request that the portion of their dues that goes to PACs be refunded to them. Hitting NEA in the purse would help.

T, Exactly so. Hopefully we will awaken from our drunken "euphoria" in time. Peace and love, George.

What ever happened to the lawsuit from Mark Levin - Landmark Legal - he went after them and said he was able to prove the NEA was using funds from their members to support democrat candiates - against the wishes of some members. Also .. the NEA is not a "political" group - and therefore does not have to account for its funds. Mark sued to get this changed.

Anybody know what happened - or is this waiting for court time ..??

I haven't heard any results for I am on a contract job away from home but last I heard, Washington state teachers were suing the NEA for using dues for political funding against their wishes or without their consent. (fingers crossed)

No, most, even the principal, were non-union. (Rural fly-over country.)

Wife and I once did that. We were each reimbursed 15 bucks of the couple thousand they take.

But you know, I don't mind the NEA now that the slickster is history. I once taught in a native village. One high school student started swearing at me and started talking about not having to be white mans dog. The kid wouldn't exit the room, so I gently lifted him by the arm out of his seat and of course he swung at me. Once I had him out in the hall he settled down. Next day, half the dysfunctional village was ready to sue me or at least have my certification revoked. The respectable people in the village wouldn't go against their relatives. THE NEA UNION WAS ALL I HAD FOR HELP & PROTECTION.

I might not agree with the NEA and we're still reg repubs; but teachers today need the nea more than ever and most realize that. I don't hound the wife about quitting the NEA anymore; lesson learned.
