Sequoia Crushes SUV In National Park

SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. -- A 200-foot-tall giant sequoia tree fell along Sequoia National Park's main road, crushing a vehicle into a several-foot high pile of crumpled metal, park officials said Monday.

The tree, believed to be approximately 1,000 years old, fell Sunday at about 5:15 p.m. along the Generals Highway several miles east of the Giant Forest Museum, said park spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet.

No one was injured but the Jeep Grand Cherokee was destroyed, Picavet said.

I bet the auto owner voted for Clinton.

Why would you say that?

Bad day for SUVs in the National Park. Second sequoia crushing today, unless I missed some threads.

I guess that answered the old question of "if a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound ?"

Guess for the enviro-whackos this is a mixed-blessing. We lost a tree, but at least it took an SUV with it.

Heard this story on Rush today. He prefaced it by playing the SUV theme song "In A Yugo". It's old, but it still makes me laugh out loud!

Nobody mentioned that the SUV was backed right up to the tree with the motor running... (just kidding)

Rush made the soccer-mom reference and now a lot of people think only liberals drive SUVs, or are soccer moms.

;-)

We're going to have to outlaw those Sequoias. It's for the children, you know.

Glad no one was injured.
