Retired Gen Meigs said on MSNBC that he thinks the relative sophistication of the bomb leaves out the common man revenge factor, points to the Baathists or AQ.I see no one's talking about the elephant in the room--the Palestinians, who have used car bombs for years.

Agreed. This isn't local insurgents.

Nadler is the reason I turned the channel.
Why FNC is interviewing Nadler and discussing whether we were correct to go to war in Iraq. It's a little late in the game to be discussing that particular topic.

I don't think the terrorists targeted this building because it housed UN employees. They go for soft targets, with lots of people, maximum access maximum death. That's what the terrorists do in Israel - go after hotels. Al Queda did the same thing in Kenya, other places.
The war on terrorism continues, and getting Bin Laden is essential. I hope we have not lost that focus, I believe that is so vital.

I think the warning was meant for the UN, though, as a way to get them to do something about US policy maybe. By fair means or foul.

all terrorists are like wasps from the same nest. It is fruitless and pointless to try to figure out which wasp stung us and which wasp did not. Destroy the nest and every wasp you find in the nest. That a good analogy!
To: carton253
If you can't figure out which wasp, then how can you find the correct nest?
To: dennisw
I'm hoping you're right and that it was a suicide bomber (rather than remote detonation). At least there will be one less terrorist.

I don't know yet, but round up the usual suspects...

Huge explosion rocks area around United Nations headquarters in Baghdad
Tuesday, August 19, 2003
(08-19) 06:19 PDT BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) --
A huge explosion on Tuesday rocked a hotel housing the U.N. headquarters, injuring a number of people and severely damaging the building, a spokesman said.
The force of the blast, which knocked out windows up to a mile away from the scene, destroyed several cars, including one that was on fire.
The U.N. spokesman in Baghdad, Salim Lone, informed U.N. headquarters in New York that a number of people were hurt in the explosion, but no one was killed as far as he knew.
Lone said the explosion destroyed a significant part of the Canal Hotel in northeast Baghdad, U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said in New York.
U.S. Black Hawk helicopters could be seen flying toward the scene of the explosion. Black smoke rose hundreds of feet into the air.
U.S. military officials could not confirm what had happened.
United Nations weapons inspectors worked out of the hotel during the period before the war.
"My house shook like it did during the bombing at the start of the war," a resident in the area around the hotel said.

I gave up on Fox.....they have Jerry Nadler on .......They should've stapled his mouth shut instead of his stomach.

FNC is interviewing Nadler and discussing whether we were correct to go to war in Iraq. It's a little late in the game to be discussing that particular topic.Democrats don't even wait until all the bodies are evacuated before they start using the event to make points. Hillary did the same thing during the blackout last week. They just have no shame whatsoever.

...make that UN do gooder typesI'm sorry for any injuries and/or loss of life that has occurred, but that phrase is still an oxymoron.
To: Peach
I wonder if this will change the minds of some of the obstructionists in the UN about getting involved in Iraq. Specifically the French and Germans etc.
