Chaos and cannibalism under Congo's bloody skies
Guardian ^

'The soldiers had red eyes, and they were singing and dancing. They slaughtered the priest, cut him to pieces, removed his heart and liver and cooked them. The rest of the group had to pay money or eat the human flesh to be allowed to leave. Another four men, three women and three children were killed.' Among the dead was a pregnant woman who was gutted.
In Congo for the past 50 years tales of cannibalism have been apocryphal. Today they are a norm - what better way to sow terror into the hearts of your enemies than to instil the fear that they could be eaten?

"i wish this was a joke. it's difficult to believe that these kinds of horrors exist. " you don't want "imperialist, christian america" to force its values on "diverse cultures" do you?
how un-demonRAT...let them be "one, with nature..."

"Can't we send the libs over there to reason with these people?"No need. The French are already there. They should have this straightened out in no time. < snicker >

Does this justify intervention in Africa?
Something about the way colonialism ended was terribly fouled up. I would argue that many African nations should again be subdued, and then, developed, educated, democratized, and then gradually released to a real independence.

I read the article you linked to, twice. Nothing there about a Catholic Priest.
Not that it's any less horrible. But still, what was wrong with the original title to the article?.

"Yes, we absolutely MUST NOT judge other cultures."
I wonder if other countries joked about the US when we practiced slavery?

Read it again slowly:
They slaughtered the priest, cut him to pieces, removed his heart and liver and cooked them.
Read the article, they killed him because they said he was
mocking them because he was wearing robes.
Read slowly.

Look DUDE you are really getting on my nerves. You were doing it the other night too and I was responding to you when that thread got pulled...you probably wouldn't have liked what I had to say either. Are you sure you are in the right place? This is FREE REPUBLIC...perhaps you were looking for that LIBERAL site I've heard about.
"I wonder if other countries joked about the US when we practiced slavery?" What in the h________ does that have to do with what I posted? Multiculturalism HAS been attempting to teach people that all cultures are equal. I wasn't joking.

Zimbabwe circles the drain as Liberia looks for the outside help that will be hated as it saves. From the amazing Kim du Toit's
"Let Africa Sink:" My favorite African story actually happened after I left the country. An American executive took a job over there, and on his very first day, the newspaper headlines read: "Three Headless Bodies Found".
The next day: "Three Heads Found".
The third day: "Heads Don't Match Bodies".

There was a real funny advert for the Toyota Tacoma on the local country and western station here.
Like one of those "repeat after me" language training drills:...
Sentence 1.... (high speed Spanish).. translation = The Tacoma drives over lizards the size of small children.
Sentence 2...(high speed spanish)...You grab its tail ...I'll grap its tit and we throw the alligator into the back of the Tacoma.
Sentence 3...(high speed spanish)...We will load our bikes in the Tacoma....you continue with your ritual cannibalism .
Followed by high speed blurb about the offer and interest rates..followed by "TEXT NOT AVAILABLE IN FRENCH"...
Too funny....Cracked me up....LOFLMAO

The article states protestant priest. Nowhere does it say a Catholic Priest was eaten. K?.

Thanks for the extended article.
Blair - "Two years ago Tony Blair told a wet-eyed Labour Party conference: 'I tell you if Rwanda happened again today as it did in 1993, when a million people were slaughtered in cold blood, we would have a moral duty to act there.' "
2 years ago? Prior to 911? Hmmm.... and according to the article the British are still contributing funds and meeting with these 'leaders'.
I wonder about the populations of these countries. With 4 million killed, how would the world community deal with this and in what kind of numbers of people......, while the war on terror is still occurring, and a few other countries need to be dealt with (North Korea, Syria, etc...)?
Moral duties are wonderful, but strategy and tactics need developing.
