WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Democrats accused President Bush on Saturday of refusing to recognize that his fiscal policies are weakening the economy.
"President Bush's misguided economic policies of huge tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and spiraling budget deficits have been a failure," U.S. Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama said in delivering the Democrats' weekly radio address.

"He has not created jobs, he has not provided small businesses with adequate incentives to invest in new workers, and he has not exercised discipline in balancing the budget," Davis said. Pot, kettle, black.

"
...he has not exercised discipline in balancing the budget."
Democrats would criticize the president even if his policies where a rousing success, but this part of the statement I can't argue with.
To: MatthewViti
is that his economic policies have caused deep deficits and widespread job loss that continue to weaken our economy, not improve it," Davis said. Davis is clever enough to not say California deficits, while implying it, ie that the California deficits are all Bush's fault. That is clever, because he has an exit strategy if called upon it. He can just say that he was kibbitzing about federal deficits for the fun of it, because thinking about anything related to California, is a total downer. I understand.

Where is it in the US Constitution stated that the President is responsible for creating jobs? I do know that in the US Constitution, Congress is responsible for fiscal items, which is why I pay such damned high taxes.

If I recall, Bush wanted a 676(?) Billion dollar tax cut, they whittled it down to 350 Billion and then the dems insisted on another 40 Billion 'Tax cut' for the non-paying populace. Bush wanted a budget with a 4% increase...what happened?
To: Batrachian
Democrats would criticize the president even if his policies where a rousing success, but this part of the statement I can't argue with. I'm trying to think of something more overrated than balancing the federal budget... Hmmmm...
Nope, can't do it.

I assume you're a Florida resident. I'd love to see a comparison of the taxes paid by Florida resident and California residents.
The California income tax rate goes up to 9.3%
The California sales tax ranges from 7.75% to 8.75%
The California car registration tax is 2% of the value of the car - I will be paying over $600 for my new Chevy Avalanche in October.
The California property tax is 1% of the assessed value of the property, but cannot increase by more than 2%/year (Prop 13).
Can you provide comparable info on Florida?
Thanks!!

Well I am in central Florida on the space coast. We have no state income tax and my county sales tax is 6%. My property tax is kinda high because I have two shops on my property along with my house. ($1800 a year) and my truck tag cost me $37 this year. Hope this helps.

Maybe because he has to clean up the mess and the fraud left by blowjob bill!
