Of course, Mayor Doofus stood in the middle of the bridge to shake people's hands and get some face time, but only served to block foot traffic and got heckled for it, from what I understand. If I had had the chance, I would have cursed at him. I was one of the lucky ones, since my job is very close to my home, I was frustrated with mayor doofus for not giving, on the minimum, best and worst case scenario's for time, or at least saying, he wouldn't know when the power would come back on.
Instead we got a lot of jibe, starting with the 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 hours, to later on, "as soon as possible" and lets thank new yorkers stuff.

Well, I was fortunate enough to have been home when it happened, so I just hung out on the deck and read until dark.
But today, no shops, restaurants or newsstands are open. For some reason, the Post Office has decided not to deliver mail, and my newspaper delivery jackasses couldn't even be bothered to leave the newspapers with the doorman -- they just never showed up. Oh, and the phones in our building went out at 8:20 this morning and haven't been restored yet. Screw RCN. I'm going back to Verizon.
So while most people were pissy yesterday, today is my day to be that way.

Bloomberg around 4:45pm yesterday was on the radio saying power would be back up in the City in a few hours.

The truth hurts, doesn't it?
Things are bad all around this whole big world, and not just for us pampered, insular and fat Americans who've generally never had it so good, in case you had not noticed. Quit complaining.

A sad situation yesterday, indeed, but perhaps unfortunately now many more people truly know how nearly 2/3rds of the Earth's population actually lives out their lives every day in squalor, confusion and frustration, day-in and day-out.With all due respect, as a happy new yorker. What the hell difference does it make to me those 2/3rds people. They don't have power, fine, they probably don't miss not having it either. I'm not them, and our economy is not based on them. I'm sure someone, somewhere yesterday in some 3rd world country also got hit by a car, what, I'm supposed to compare there plight to mine? Its supposed to matter to me?
How 2/3rds of the world is doing, has no relevance to most of the people on this board unless it has a direct affect. Those people over there in the 3rd world, did not have an effect, the people in north america, did.

Count your many blessings, brother, count your blessings. We have been graced what with the inalienable right to be fat, comfortable, air conditioned, perrier-ed up, with 500 cable channels and 17 brands of toilet paper. Count your blessings is all i'm saying, when lining this disaster up with the rest of the world.
These things sometimes happen for a deeper, instructive reason. It is what it is. New Yorkers did well. Take away something from it. Deeper.
This is why the TV show "Survivor" would be such a joke of a show in about 75% of the world. it's a legitimate perspective you don't want to hear. Fine. I'm thankful. That's all for now. :-)

Why isn't Hillary in there, sleeves rolled up, working to solve the problem? She's waiting for Chuckie Schumer to do something and then claim credit for it...
