If these outages continue into the evening, I fear terrorists may take advantage of the situation.Especially if they could plan ahead for it. Nahhhhh, that would indicate they caused it...

No air conditioning, Wall Street down, and just wait until the riots start (and they undoubtedly will). Scary, scary times!
And this is the last thing the economy needs right now.

I don't know. I'm sure Ann Arbor and Detroit are connected since they are 25-30 miles apart.
What doesn't make sense. Ann Arbor is down. Lansing is down. Not sure about Flint, but Livingston County is up. We're between Lansing and Detroit, and just north of Ann Arbor.
Okemos(Lansing Suburb 10 miles east) is up too. Lansing uses the "Board of Water and Light". Okemos I'm not sure, but East Lansing also uses BWL.
Livingston County uses DTE Edison - as does Detroit.

They may have already done that with TWA 800 - and they might have thought they didn't get enough bang for the buck.

Pittsburgh International has four runways and 108 gates which are being tapped for diverted flights I can hear all types of air traffic, here west of Pittsburgh. Much more than usual for an afternoon.

"Any word on what happening in MyAssItItches home of Sen Kennedy."
The problem started when Teddy turned on his 200 megawatt bar blender.
Idiot CBS reporter gal trying to stir up hysteria. Things are so bad that "You can hear honking behind me." Honking, in NYC? I never thought I'd see the day that that happened...

there was an explosion or fire in a Con Ed plant and that alone is sufficent to cause this? Are you a power grid expert? No? I didn't think so. Those who are say it's entirely possible and, in fact, designed that way.

I work in a Network Operations Center and we are seeing massive outages all over multiple networks across the country. With the Blaster worm going full force, the internet may be slowed down immensely if backup power supplies cut off routing points.

My husband (who lost power in his Englewood NJ office and is sitting in traffic coming home as I type) just called his parents in Oil City - no power.

Did anyone hear the caller just on HANNITY that mentioned a plane crash? Sean quickly put him on hold. News blackout? I wonder how much damage a private plane flying into a power plant like the one on Manhattan would do.
